I will never forget riding in my sisters ‘79 Trans Am (white with the orange-red phoenix) back in the early 80’s when I was around 11 or 12. Will never forget the view from the inside of the shaker. It has to be one of the moments that defines a person or at least a young boy. 48 now and still loves cars. Especially the 6.6L Trans Am of the late 70’s. We owe Pontiac quite a bit for being one of just a few American auto makers to keep the performance edge alive through horrible oil embargos that I still remember. Thx for posting!
I had a 77 black and gold. What a great car. It sounded and handled amazingly. That 78 has been reworked so the sounds are a bit enhanced. I loved how they drove with that wide-track road feel. Sure miss it even today. The M5 came kinda close even for a 4 door. The GT-R is a lot more mechanical and of course more horsepower than the 77 even thought of having.
I was lucky in the 70s and early 80s. Several of my friends had T/As. So I had hundreds of hours in these cars. Nothing like them. 70 - 72 are the best out of all of them.
If you bought the TA cut the plastic (metal) out of the hood scoop. My brother did this and you could hear the carb when the widows were open, very cool 😎
Nineteen hundred and seventy eight. Back when politically correct was not a thing and a well tuned car like this let you know you were damned blessed to be driving it. :-)

Beautiful. Congrats! So much talk about horsepower numbers, 0-60, etc., but it's the feel of the car, and how it makes you feel, which counts most.
They don't make Trans am like that anymore badass ride
You should put an original Trans Am steering wheel back on it.
Always loved the sound my Pontiac 400 made.
