    I was lucky enough to have been sponsored by Soundstream back in the late 90s in there prime! Had 4, 15” SPL subs in a wall in my 86’ mercury cougar! Had 2, Chrome Class A 10.0s running the subs and the class AB Reference 1000 on my mids and high running stereo! It was a monster for SPL! I competed with USAC and earned the 501-1000 watt world record for a year in 1998 with 157dB on the dash legal SPL!! It was an amazing system that would produce 162+ SPL with the windows down!! I still have my presentation book with pics!! Not sure what happened to Soundstream after the early 2000s but they used to be elite!!

    The decorative cover on the Human Reign is a type of epoxy resin very similar or possibly the same as used for large collectible figurines. I believe that amp is actually a slightly modified Rubicon 804 under the shroud. The Tarantula...Legendary.

    @williamallen6255 Před 6 lety +1

    I always wanted a pair of the Trans, and at least one of the Reigns..Were always out of reach for me to foot the bill. Still some of my all time favorite amps..other than those old and Rare Surf board Sansui amps,..Zapco had a couple I always wanted to try as well S. Boards.Absolutely still very clean amps for sure/ well taken care of and stored nicely

    You have no idea. The old school original Reference series from back in the day was built a lot better. When Soundstream was built in the US. A lot of us were upset when they sold out and went over seas, they aren't built like they used to be...

    (Human Reign) Not crowded inside due to power supply and audio output transistors located on reverse side of circuit board. (Same as reference series)

      If power and decibel level ie: how fucking loud it can go, are your main priorities then you are part of the reason why shitty amps with fantastically inflated specs exist. There's a huge difference between quality of sound and how fucking loud it will go. True audiophiles want superb sound quality first then power. Audiotards only care about a ridiculous, unnecessary amount of power to make their subs thump and their tweeters screech like fucking hyenas.

    I helped my brother set up a soundstream tarantula (original model, 2000x1) to a cv stroker 18, but the capacitors we used slid down the brass mounting ring and shorted the input. Amp now goes into protect. Anyone still do work on these old beasts?

      @vintagestereobuff7005 Před 7 lety +1

      I agree with you that peak power ratings are "shit". R.M.S. ratings are to tell how much power an amp can produce with A (meaning one) sine wave of a given single frequency. I listen to music, not sine waves of one frequency. From what I've witnessed on you tube dyno tests of amps, many high quality amps don't put out much more "dynamic power" or "music power" than their R.M.S. ratings.This seems to be especially true of amps with tightly regulated power supplies. This shouldn't really be any problem if the buyer just figures out how much dynamic power he needs and buys an amp with at least that much R.M.S. power. Even if the R.M.S. rating is higher than the speaker can handle it shouldn't be a problem if you are listening to music. But a 20 second burp at 40hz might just send the woofer up in smoke, shorting the coil and possibly cooking the output transistors.

      @Assimilator702 Před 6 lety
