This does actually *really* nicely encapsulate the type of videos that dominated CZcams for certain time periods. Obviously, early on we have individually-produced pieces of content, how the website was always intended before sponsors and corporations (understandably) wanted to take advantage of the platform, thus we give rise to music videos, and then as the Robots began to take over the world with greater and greater ease, even the music videos are infiltrated, and then succumb, to the overwhelming might of kiddie videos with extremely unreasonable numbers attached to them.
Shoutouts to Evolution of Dance, man. The fact that, in essence, a completely random talent show clip filmed by a random dude with a camcorder was able to hold the early CZcams crown for so long is just fantastic. I'll miss that level of Internet innocence dearly.

I heard that it might get recommended with the Kids music videos. And the reason it wasn't on the list in the 2000s, is because the initial hype around that was in '05 while the official music video was uploaded in '09. By that time people already heard it enough 😂

I have been on CZcams since 2012, and it feels like it "died" in 2022, I miss the old CZcams, where there were fewer restrictions, people made videos for the sake of viewers, not for money, without super video editing, etc. :(

I see the Me at the Zoo video now has 360M views and the Good Times!!! video has 2.6M views as of Aug 11 2024 those were the first 2 videos to be uploaded to CZcams from Jawad and Zubazpants i still go back and watch those for the nostalgia as I was still in elementary school when those were uploaded in 2005.
If ever you need a perfect illustration of how record labels dominate when it comes to using money and very little in the way of originality to sell the same music for years on end rather than taking a risk on new talent. The way CZcams started to the years and years of just the same few music videos being the most watched things on CZcams shows it perfectly.
Not only do they crush talented new musicians who haven’t got a prayer when it’s easier just to work Ed Sheeran to death, all the talented content creators making videos are being drowned out by them too.
It’s the boomers running the music industry who back in the day had the luxury of being able to make it due to talent that have closed the door for any hopefuls with talent ever being heard because it’s far cheaper and less risky to put out music by the same artists over and again and do collabs.
I could spend all year banging on about this but it is an absolute scandal and now it seems it’s not just killing it for talented musicians who should be breaking through, but it’s also killing CZcams content creation too.
Never underestimate how many time a kid will watch babyshark during a long car trip.😂
What shocks me the most is that Crazy Frog was released in 2005, it was never in the top views and I see it coming out of nowhere and soon it has more views than the Gangnam style.
