the better question would be, is a convertible better than a laptop PLUS a tablet?

      LoL
One is more weight and better battery bc two devices... if the brand has a good ecosystem it can be a good experience.
The other is 2 in 1, not perfect but less money and one device.

I was eyeing both options for my wife for studying, at the end, I found out that I can get a decent refurbished 17" Hp Laptop 7th gen i7, AND a new Galaxy Tab S6 8gb ram 256 gb storage with the Stylus pen included for the price of a new 11th gen i7 Lenovo Flex 5 2in1 15" laptop.
So, simply put both of us will be getting good devices that suit us both, instead of just one of us getting a device that is actually too heavy to be used as a tablet for writing stuff while maintaining the Os for no real extra benefit (you can read, write with a pen and edit documents on Galaxy tablets much easier and smoother than on windows touch-enabled laptops.

Also the fact that 2 in 1 laptops are heavier, bulkier and having less battery life doesnt make them great tablets.
They are neither good laptops nor good tablets but a mixture (hotchpotch)of both which does the functions of neither properly.
Ps they are cheaper than the sum of individual costs of both laptops and tablets combined together

If I have been choosing tablet, I would choose something with Windows/some linux distribution - which means Windows and which means MS Surface. My productivity on Android is zero.
And with a phone and Windows 11 coming, Android tablet has zero value for me.

You can choose between 2-in-1: Convertible or Detachable.
Convertibles do not take away from laptop experience, and Detachable do not detract from tablet experience.
So 2-in-1 laptops are always better than non 2-in-1 laptops in almost every scenario. And 2-in-1 costs the same as Clamshell laptops, they're not more expensive.

This isn't really as true as one would think. Many 2 in 1 laptops have Intel Evo certifications and long battery lives, on par with a tablet. Most are also super thin and marginally heavier than a large tablet. So a 2 in 1 laptop is really just a Windows tablet that has access to the full versions of apps dumbed down for Android.

I'm an Architect that needs a tablet's portability that can run full-functioning windows based software (Bluebeam & Autocad) for site meetings.
The intent is to use it for taking surveyed data and mark-ups on & viewing PDFs of drawings during meetings (similar to how we use a clipboard).
The software is typically high clocked, single core intensive but having multi cores is useful for multi-tasking (like a 10700k equivelent).
    16gb RAM and 256/512GB storage
Typical site usage would be around 2-3hrs @ a time.
It would need to be bright enough to be used in direct sunlight.. as well as not overheat while doing so.
A 2-buttoned stylus that mimics mouse usage would be perfect.

Obviously dude, laptops are more powerful.
Stop relying on Antutu because it does not test benchmarks of computer CPU.
Just to clear your doubts, a computer CPU can run emulators to handle mobile apps, but the reverse is not possible.
Talk to me when tablets are able to run apps like Premier Pro, Final Cut, Logic X, FL Studio, etc...

@@am.Shub2770 if you want to compare pc hardware the surface pro uses laptop hardware yet it's a tablet, but the price is comparable to an actual laptop.
