  • In today's video we drag a 1988 Chevy 1500 pick-up truck out of the woods where it has been sitting for 18 years! This truck was my wife's Grandfather's truck and when it died we pulled it to this location so he could keep his eye on it till the day he passed away. Just six years later he passed away just 100 yards away in his house.
I pretty much know that this truck is DOA because I had attempted to fix this truck just before we parked it. I believe the driver's side rear cylinder exploded causing major damage.
I was assessed by my dear friend Hoarse in the making of this video.
My future plans for this truck is to get it running and not do a full restoration. Maybe a spray and run paint job. Make the inside very nice and clean.
    Thanks for watching.

4.3 every time. The computer and trans are waiting for one.

I have that same truck spent 2 years restoring it the old 4.3 still runs great after 300,000 miles. Once that engine wears out I’m gonna put a 454 in it

I have a 4.3 to put in it but once I get it where is dependable again I want to put on a 350.

@@ThezNutzGarage that’s a smart way to do it the 350 should bolt right up to the same transmission

You can't go wrong with a 350 carbureted manual set up. For authenticity and originality, though, you can't beat the king of compact truck motors, the good all reliable, 4.3 L.

I bought another 4.3 engine and I am hoping to get it installed in the fall. Going to try to get it fixed over the winter months. I need to do the clean up video here in the next month.
      Thanks for the great comment.

I say 350 CI and whatever manual goes to it. My buddy’s dad had a Chevy with the 350 and a manual in it and it was so cool. I don’t remember if it was 4 or 5 gears or whatever. But it’d be the simplest and cheapest option. No screwing around with expensive and complicated ass fuel injection and computer BS lol

I tried that but it didn’t work. I just learned how to replace the lock cylinder. I also got some new tools.
