This Lugo slander is ridiculous. He is absolutely deserving and I’m tired of these nation media types overlooking all the players that don’t play in NY, LA, Chicago or Philly. Ken would have Jackson Holliday in the all star game if he could stay on the Orioles’ roster.

He’s right though. Seth Lugo for example should absolutely be an Allstar this year but he has no business being the Allstar starter I don’t care how good he’s been.
Absolutely wrong. If you’re the best pitcher in the league, and Lugo is by far, you deserve to be an All Star and in his case a starter. Putting people on a team because of their name is why so many players become so vastly overrated during their careers and in retrospect aren’t thought of as much of a star. It’s also why so many players are overlooked for how good they are or were. 50 years of watching baseball proves that.

Fan of Ken’s, but I couldn’t disagree more and I’m a 66 year fan of the game. I want to see the most deserving players based on performance. Fill the roster with the older guys, but priority to those having the best season.
To deny a guy like Seth Lugo the start because he isn't as well known despite the fact that he is having a Cy Young worthy first half is crass and I expect better of you Ken.

To me, an Allstar not only performs well but also has good character. Manny Machado definitely does not check all of the boxes. I do not want my child looking up to a player like that!

Jays have a lot of valuable assets. They could get really good 2-3 years from now with top-line prospects by moving these players that other teams will pay a premium to receive.
Try largely OVER-valued assets. Hence their nickname "Paper-Tiger," as they flounder in last place in the AL East, 7 games below .500.

@@1TightMinute - Because it keeps more deserving players from being selected. Organizations that assemble crappy teams don't need to be represented. Maybe the shame of that would motivate them to take their team's performance more seriously, which would be better for their fans.

Like who’s really going to get snubbed, Alex verdugo? They want the entire nation tuning in so they are going to have someone that is from everyone’s team so that they want to watch. This isn't NBA, it isn't a sport where you can be an All-Star just because you promote youself well, you should be an All-Star cuz you do well April through July, not because you can tweet the most interesting thing or more of an influencer, a no name can become a star with the oppotunity to be an All-Star and shine on this big platform, just like Elias Diaz who did turned some heads last year, that's the spirit.
