Thank you for the review. I just picked up one of these from TEMU for $17.99. I will be using it as a studio monitor controller from an 8 channel mixing board for my speakers and headphones, in an internet radio studio, not recording. All of the good things you said about this unit will suffice my need of use. I'm glad i found this. Most active studio monitor controllers are on the expensive side.

I just got mine recently, and here are some of the pros and cons. If you want to use it as a usb connector for your recording, it does it's job really well, but since the design is simplistic and minimalistic and its only features are gain and volume control I would suggest to pair it with a multi-channel audio mixer or a soundcard that has vocal effects on it like reverb.

Thank you for the very informative video! I especially perked up for the gain, frequency and phase response measurements. I'm thinking they probably put a dent into my hope of it being able to serve as a super low budget interface for basic loudspeaker measurements? Or maybe there's a chance it can be compensated with a calibration curve? Since reference and measurement would be run through the same chip, relative level and phase measurements might not be off the table either? So many questions. Looking forward to part 2!

Good review. I worked in electronics for 40 years. It would seem like a schematic of the thing could help to make some changes to the design to fix the shortcomings. Possibly add decoupling caps to the A2D section (Try to understand where the noise is coming from), add an external power connector, tweak a cap/resistor value or two, if that can be done, to give more gain. Beef up the step up voltage circuit to provide a higher voltage for the mic. This isn't rocket science.

Nice video, I have a question for you about the Loop Back. I do video interviews and use Streamyard (It's like Zoom) to do so. I use a Behringer Q502 mixer (which I love) but I have an issue when both me and my guest speak at the same time. One of us is muffled and I cannot figure out how to solve it. I'm assuming it's because the guest's voice is coming from Streamyard, through my mixer and then back to Streamyard. If I had this device, according to what I'm understanding from your video, I could stop the guest's voice from going back to Streamyard, but I can still hear them? In other words, only my voice would be going back to Streamyard. (I call it a reverse mix-minus,) Is that what the Loop Back thing does?

Hi Chris, thanks for the great review, i have a noticed that little buzz noise in the background, is that something that can be fixed in post? I wanna get one for using it only for some talkhead videos. I am plannimg to use to for an XLR dynamic mic (fduce sl40- gain:-54db).
    Cheers

Hi Chris could I bring my big analog mixer into the line inputs to go to computer, you can get rid of all the noise and breathing in on your voice over with the basic noise reduction on in obs, the expander and limiter is extremely good too.. 44.1khz is standard for my radio ads 48 is a bonus.

Hi! Id like to know if it can be powerd with a usb phone charger (an iPhone charger for example) and use it as a stand alone mixer/preamp. I need a cheap but decent preamp to conect a sm57 to guitar pedals, so that the noise floor isnt to high when playing sax. Thanks in advance and congratulations for the great review and testing.

Hello Sir, I want to know if i use this mixer with my studio monitor speaker by using 2 trs cable and plugging it into the main output port of audio interface, Will it improve the audio output quality as compared to directly connecting it to the PC.

You mentioned a wish for the 3.5mm plugin power to be in the 5v to 10v range. Are there any devices which provide that much voltage?
Most of the devices that I've tested are in the 3v to 5v range. My Behringer 302 mixer, provides about 4.5v, which seems to be enough for every electret mic that I've tried.

It's a pity that the Teyun falls down on certain aspects of its performance. There aren't many USB mini mixers that offer two XLR inputs.

The outputs are not meant to directly drive speakers. They are meant to go into the input of a power amplifier.

The Teyun Q-12 does not need a driver. You need to isolate your problem.
