- Hi all. This is a short video on my intro to Stoicism for Programmers. Stoicism is a well documented and defined school of thought I could never properly do justice. I kept it as short as I can. :)

As an experienced programmer, everything BigBox talks about is right on. It's clear he knows what he's talking about and dropping very precious gems of knowledge. Another on-point video, my dude!

Whenever I want to zen mode from programming this guy is on time always
I also love that it’s clean and to the point in 1-5 minutes.

Anyone can log a journal. As bigboxSWE said, re-reading is the key and the most challenging part!
As an aspiring Stoic and a developer, this is spot on! Ty for helping us out man, your videos help me a lot!
Thanks BigBocc ❤ this was relatable. I always fluctuate between overwhelm and the mindset you outlined here. It tends to happen accidentally though 😅
vim users never fail to mention that they use it
:wq
The share amount of good advice from this channel does astonish me.
Journaling absolutely works. Have been keeping few journals for years.
Totally recommend to try
I'm not surprised your channel has grown like crazy since your first video. Great work man!
you really changed my mindset about programming . I was literally on a pathway to quit it just beacuse of wrong self-believes and approach to it. I love your content keep on going with what you are doing.
Thank you for your time as well
Clear and powerful message. Above all the mind is our most powerful asset. Danke sehr
Agree with you 100%, these days I feel calm and relax and eager to learn new things despites of difficulties. Staying calm and focusing on things that we can control is what Stoicism taught me ..
Your video on how to get out of tutorial hell was best thing happened to me this year. After that i have made multiple projects and has been improving consistently. Thank You
Jesus why is this channel always ON POINT❤
Short, precise, on point and enjoyable. ❤ Love from Pakistan.
Thank you for YOUR time, BigBox. Great video as always.
bigbox, your videos rock. thank you.
My new favorite channel ❤❤❤
I love ur videos man keep it going
Love your videos buddy, I wish you'd do longerform content so I have longer videos of your's to play while I work :)
other matters in life took to me stoicism and their practices, i listen and read about them quite often. I love the idea of focusing on what you can control, makes life easier
Awesome video really love this channel, maybe I will start my journal in nvim. I wanted to write it with a pen, but I broke my dominant hand, so better start now than latter! Stay healthy guys we are not alone :).
That's very relatable, another great video chadbox.
Need more youtubers like you . Hats off man ⚡
Love this channel
I wonder how this brother is always coming up whenever we need the correct advice at correct time!!! Thanks a lot bro!! keep going!!
Thank you. I needed this today.
Man, this video is gold!
thanks, i really need this right now
ChadBox always delivering when we least expect.
you're the programming therapist for us!
I am one of the Indian(Telugu) people learning programming........I am still at basics.......the guy you mentioned in the "very reasonable" is one of the most funny artist in our telugu film industry........I don't know how you found it but I laughed my ass off dude(literally)........I came for the philosphy but found something more than that......I feel less worried after that laughter about not getting past few road-blocks.......
Instead of using dots use enter on your keyboard ;)
0:46 I know you're just making a humorous analogy here.
But the terminology for the reflection of light elevates it into a truly poetic one.
Hey BigBox, love your videos! I was wondering, what font are you using for your vim journal? it looks amazing.
Stoicism and all it's principles helps me tackling the difficulties face everyday.
Thank you. Very true...
needed this
This was deep. ♥️
I fuck with your channel deeply! In first 5 sec you made me cry
Thank you BigBoxus Aurelius
big box is a based self-improvement bro, I had a feeling you were one of us :)
This is actually a flex on non-vim users
"Hello, Lord"🗿
good take on the topic, recommend doing shorts, youll reach more people who struggle to learn programming. like me ;P
Dude how do you find so many cool images for your videos, seriously? I've made a short video like this but it took me forever to find good images and I couldn't even find it for a few parts, do you search in a specific website? Pls help out this fellow programming student who wants to share some wisdom about the job market, btw your channel is awesome
this guy is a G
i love you bro
casual bigbox W!
Bro has no enemies
I couldn't agree more, the only thing we can really change is how we react
Hey this video is for me!)
Yeah , stay calm, ignore what you can't do and when you tell him to throw the trash or wash the dishes he says he doesn't have time
fine by me
"Your greatest asset is your mind" - who quoted this?
69k subs LETS GOOOOO
That Meditite Thumbnail made me click the vid ;)
I didn't know making CZcams videos shorter than 10 minutes was even possible any more...
BixBox, can you please make video about solving problem in projects? I really need it
Would doing the journaling part work better on a real journal book? Or do you think doing it on the .readme work better?
Depends on the individual. Stepping away from the screen and journaling with pen and paper to be beneficial.
Alternatively, it’s easier to edit or fix errors in a .readme
@@blackfi12e622 Thanks!
I’ve found something on the computer is much easier to reflect because if I want to go back to my previous writings by searching for key words. But I also do that as a work log to help track my progress on stuff.
You understand us
hey hey bbSWE's uploaded
big, What do you think about the MIT courses for programming with Python?
.-.
here i am trying to land a job when i didn't get industry internships, nor did i really find a specialization of cs to work on and get projects out of during college

Mind Pooooooowweeer. Need more imagination and coffee. LoL😅
How u know Sunil bro?
tolllywood assemble!!
Bro literally had to flex that he uses vim in 1 minute video about stoicism
I think considering to stop torturing yourself is also a good option. If no job at least working on private projects can be fun from time to time.
For suuuuuuuuure. I like to hustler personally, but I know my limit and we all need to be kinder to ourselves
@@cody_codes_youtube Im noticing more and more that i can barely be as consistent because im not "passionate" about anything, for me its only a job. For personal projects is where the fun is.
@@mihajlocolic01 that’s your answer! Your job is your job. Follow the enjoyment. Don’t kill yourself for an employer, man.
@@cody_codes_youtube Last project i made was a discord bot to automate posting something i'm interested or "passionate" about i guess, and it's working quite well so far i'm pleased with it. Also learnt some basic web scraping with it.
Or just be depressed like every normal programmer.
I guess you are a telugu guy 😁
holy shit! I was shocked to see telugu memes for a sec
One of the recept Fireship videos got The Bramhanandam 😃
That is the craze of Bramhanandam 💥
hahaha - not telugu unfortunately :) but very close, bit more northern
I am sorry but stoicism is not a silver bullet for managing psychological well being of programmers - it encourages numbing emotions and feelings, which regardless of how painful they might be, they demand a time and place to be felt as part of a healthy psychological well being.
what
Indian memes 😂
Are all programmers living the same life
ok so listen I'll write a few points and if more than half of them are true then I might be right
1. You were a gamer and switched to programming
2. You were once in tutorial hell or are there right now
3. You have only two phases - superiority complex or - imposter syndrome
4. You love cats
5. On some days you love programming on others you puke at the thought of writing code
6. You are jacked (because strong mind requires strong vessel) or on the way to become jacked
7. You watch anime
8. You would rather stay at home than go out (introvert)
9. You are a stoic or at least try to be one
10. You use some sort of note taking to keep organized (like zettlekasten)
do you ever plan on doing project videos?
therapy at its best 🤌
