So much of this video is so adorable! Willow is such a sweet lil old lady now! She has gotten a little less plump, but love that in between her deep naps, she is active and is a great, adorable WHEEKER! Love how Lyra seems to be comparing herself to the sweeper. In fact, she is camoflagued by it! Meanwhile @5:52, I burst out laughing as you moved the hammock to clean WITH Willow in it. I had to watch 3 times. So cute! I also love Willow's reaction when you say, here's a snack piggies, and you put down an empty bowl. WHATTTTT HOOMAN? WHERE IS THE...oh, wait the food is on my head now. LOL Lastly, it is so funny to see the familiar TEAMS on your computer. Me too! So many home meetings now with telework...
Awh thank you so much! I love reading your comments they always make me smile! Yes, Willow is a touch lighter these days, we keep a close eye on her weight. Haha yes, she's quite content to be shifted around inside the hammock like that - its too cosy not to! 😃 And yes Teams, I didn't know it even existed before!!!

Do they need to be able to graze on grass? I live in an apartment without a garden, and if I were TI give them grass I was planing on getting some downstairs at the entrance of the apartments, another thing is, what’s the recommended size for a hutch?

Aw, this is so cute. I love how Lyra and Willow are such good friends now, and it's always fun to watch guineas demolishing veggies. And man, that cage, they pretty much live in a mansion.

TIP: you can put a security camera (or any camera really) in the pets' room so you can check on them from your spot in the house, or even if you are just at work and want to check-in!

I have 2 male guinea pigs, my abyssinian, is about 3 and half, my other one is over a year and is short hair. I have to keep them separate, but side by side, because they were fighting and biting each other. I love watching video clips about guinea pigs .Thank you. God bless.
I would just suggest giving them lots of fresh grass and Timothy hay. Also letting them out a lot to walk around even outside if it's nice out. Getting more than one piggy is also best. Hope my tips are useful! :)

Hey I know I am seeing this video a bit late, but I just wanted to say that I love the way your cage is set up and think your guinea pigs are super cute. This video was very interesting! I just wanted to make a slight suggestion: I knew someone with a piggy who choked on celery because it was in too large of pieces. I would simply suggest cutting them into really small pieces.

I’ve really enjoyed working from home and all the extra time I’ve gotten with my boys. We have a closer bond than any of my previous piggies. I love checking in on them during the day too!

I have two female piggies that I got for my little girl about 2 weeks ago. We named them Rosie and Margie! They are super cute and we just love them to death! I’ve always wanted guinea pigs! They are really sweet little companions. We are trying to be the best piggy parents, so watching your channel has been super helpful! Thank you for all of your amazing content. Another fun video Sarah, thanks for showing us your routine, it looks so tidy there!! Mine love Kale too and Radishes, and also the tops of my strawberries. There is a lot of advice against high-calcium vegetables but mine either have babies or are pregrnant so they need it. Unfortunately there is a huge squeaking session every time I rattle a bag, so I try to hide the sound but they always hear!! They don't like aubergine or courgette or fresh herbs and they seem to prefer tap water to filtered!

Finally got my two 4 month old sow guinea girls, ten days ago, and love them! So glad I got them, and they have caused absolutely no problems with being in the bedroom! But have brought joy to our lives! Will make sure to watch your videos, especially ones on taming etc.

Quite similar to my routine, mak a pot of coffee, cut up the veggies for the girls. They greet me as soon as I enter the room. Bubbles can slide the door open now and they will put up an ear scratch cause they know food is coming: fill the hay rack, check the water bottle and give them pellets and veggies. Then petting produces purring.

Hi I will be having my Grandaughter s Guinea pigs soon as her mum is having breathing issues. I've had piggies in the past but it's good to see how ideas for keeping them has changed over time. I have a house rabbit as well so I hope they will be ok in roam time, I won't house them together as I know their requirements are different. Your videos are very informative, it's good that people take animal welfare more seriously nowadays. Thank you.

I loved seeing your daily routine! Mine is similar, except that I split the veggies and give them morning and evening. I’m also at home and have the time to stop by and pick them up and try to tame them. (I’ve had one piggie for about two months and he’s 8 months old. Just this week I’ve added a three week old little guy. (He was separated from his mom and sisters, so he was ready to go a bit younger than usual.) Both of our boys were born because owners mistakenly believed they had same sex guinea pigs! I’m new to piggies so I’m watching videos daily to learn everything there is to know. (Might I mention that my husband brought our first little boy home as a surprise. 😳 At first I thought I would be rehoming him, but I got attached. I made a C&C cage- 6’x2’. I sewed sets of fleece cage liners and pads. I ordered space houses. I went hog wild LOL. I even have plans to drive an hour to my mother’s house this week and we will sew more fleece liners together. On top of all of this, I’m hoping the boys will bond, as one is between teen and adult and the other is a baby. I’ve seen adult/baby bondings go VERY well here on You Tube. Thank you again for your daily routine! It was very helpful!

I must say, I’m not sure how your video ended up being the start of my day, along with my favorite cup of coffee, but it did, and it was just what I needed! I love your piggy videos, and I took notes how you care for them through the day/evening, as I am due to get two six week old sows in October. Seems far away, but it will be here before I know it! Haven’t had guineas since my teenage years, which feels a lifetime ago, and lots has changed in the guinea pig community, it seems. I will be housing them in my bedroom, do you have any tips for this new owner to be? Love your pigs, and your videos, and look forward to the next one. Now to go feast on more video’s you’ve already done!

I am actually making a mini series of videos for new owners. My best advice would be to use feeding time as an opportunity to bond with them, and once settled, say after a week or so, handle them lots and have laptime with them most days to help with taming and their confidence around you 😊

Almost my exact morning routine down to need for coffee and granola! I worry I don't feed my piggies enough especially fresh food (they often tell me they don't get enough by wheeking to beg for snacks even if they were just fed!) good to see I'm doing basically the same as someone else including the sort of stuff I feed them.
Oh yes, coffee is a must! Piggies are expert wheeking machines! Glad the video was useful! :D

I made a fleece liner with your tutorial and it turned out great! The only problem is that my piggies have learned how to burrow and poop underneath the liner. Is there anything I can do to stop them from doing this?

My 13 yr old daughter and I got her dad to agree to letting her agree to getting her first piggy! Realizing she will need two. I really appreciate youryour video’s and we will definitely look into breeders instead of pet stores. My biggest worry is the smell because we have a small apartment. Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment! Yes they can eat all usual grasses - if its something more obscure you can always google and make sure though, there are great websites with safe and unsafe food lists - Guinea Lynx is a great example 😃

DO you have any tips on taming Guinea Pigs, so that they actually don't mind lap time? I don't have any yet - am talking with my local GP rescue. We are currently weighing up options of having them indoors all year, then going out in the run when suitable. Or - keeping them outside from Apri-Oct, and bringing them in during the colder months. Any advice on that, too? We have a cat, so when they are indoors, it will have to be an safe and secure enclosure with a lid!

Hi nice videos in the caribbean here its a bit more different usually due to the pandemic we dont get much timothy hay actually but their is an alternative we use alot of forage and coconut husk which is good for the teeth as well but what i would like to know do u like have a menu checked so u know what to feed them each day, am getting so much about what to feed when to feed l sometimes buy produce for them and idk if i should knowing i give them that 2-3 times for the week already i get so confuse cause i care for them so much

Everyday veggies for us are assorted bell peppers, lettuces, small amount of celery, coriander, cucumber, occasional tomatoes, carrots, then very rarely other fruits :)

Hi! I'm planning on getting guinea pigs quite soon and If anyone could answer this question I'd be very helpful! What do I do if my guinea pigs just start fighting? Especially if they are new. I wanna make sure I am prepared to get some so if anyone could answer this then it would be very helpful! Thanks in advance.
This is very rare if you are getting them as babies and even rarer if you adopt a pre-bonded pair from a rescue 😊 If you have to bond them then research introducing guinea pigs and follow the steps, neutral territory etc. If you are worried about them fighting randomly then this can happen and you may need to separate them if they hurt each other. I would recommend looking up guinea pig dominance behaviours so you can recognise what behaviours are normal and when they escalate!

i have a question, please go easy on me, I'm a first time guinea pig owner.
So, when I first adopted my guinea pig, we had paired him with a friend who was a male as well, and both had been neutered. A week into their new life, I noticed that Gigi, my first pig, had begun to fight Kiki, our partner pig. We separated them, reintroduced, and things were seemingly well. We had to give Kiki to a new home because Gigi tried to tear his ear off, and we were scared for both of their safety. We tried separation, but Kiki couldn't be alone, and Gigi isn't a very social guinea pig. He loves people, but hates other piggies. What's up with him? He is usually so sweet and loving, but when we try playdates, new friends, and even a new "roommate", he always attempts to hurt them. Gigi is so, SO snuggly. I"m so confused.
Awh, sometimes guinea pigs can be just very dominant characters that don't want to share anything with others! If he is neutered though a female piggie may work, if there are rescues which do piggie dating near you they could help him find a friend 🤗

Gigi has been very calm and playful since we rehomed Kiki, and is doing well. While I am looking into a new cage mate, Gigi is seemingly solitary. Like I said, he loves people, but doesn't seem too interested in finding a new friend, but that IS a priority in his care.

How often u clean piggies cage in a day?? Their poop etc. And one thing more they also pass urine on the flee bedding? How u clean bedding??
I sweep maybe 3 times a day and clean out the litter tray once everyday :) Yes they pee on the fleece - I put waterproof pads under beds etc and I wash the fleece pads and liners in the washing machine, inside old pillowcases to stop the hair getting out. I have a video on litter training which gives a better idea of what I do :)

I don’t know if I’m right but I remember someone say you should not put the hay in a place where they can sit on it because they pee on it and then eat it and that’s not healthy or sth?
Some people think that yes, but personally I think they benefit from big piles of hay - and I don't think they would really eat soiled on hay, I keep it topped up so it's nice and fresh :)
