I always thought that 30 million dollars was a bit much for a musical, so I actually looked for the price of a Broadway musical, which I assume that Hidgens would agree to nothing less than Broadway. The average price for a Broadway musical is 8-12 million dollars, and with the pitch he gives, I assume that Workin' Boys would be on the cheaper side. Trail To Oregon and Hatchetfield are now connected:
In Trail to Oregon, Jack Bauer (I don't know if that's spelt correctly) straight up swallows snake venom then becomes high as fuck and sees the audience. He refers to us as the watcher with a thousand eyes. What does Blinky apparently have? a thousand eyes. This could mean that Blinky has been around since 1800s and has been watching Jeff and his many characters become insane over and over again
Thank you for coming to my Headcannon TED talk :)
ah i get it

And maybe Craphole is connected to the Black And White because he can hear animals talking
i also thought of this!!! thank you!!!
To add onto this, I think the Hatchetfield musicals and TTO are connected somehow. I forget which song it was since my playlist was on shuffle, but in a TTO song, Craphole sings something about “ring-a-ling-ding” and I haven’t seen every Starkid musical, but I only ever heard Chris Kringle sing those exact words. Also both musicals deal with musical(s) with different endings and stuff like that, idk. Just a little theory of mine.
I now we know that one of the monsters is literally a mouthface

Bad news, Bill is no longer the most morally sound person in Hatchetfield. Good news, we have our first Hatchrtfield stories with happy-ish endings!
I still think Bill is the most morally sound...well besides the Good General and his Peeps
But otherwise Bill is good
Yeah blinky was doing a similar thing to him that wiggly did to everyone else I think
I don’t think anything after the roller coaster can be held against him because of Blinky, and it shows he really loves Alice that he was able to overcome it. But the drop in morality comes more from things like his initial ignoring of her wanting to be a playwright and his eagerness to have her break up with Deb, even if it meant Deb had to cheat on her. We knew he wasn’t fond of Deb, but what looked like legitimate but incorrect concern in TGWDLM is revealed here to be a lot deeper and less founded.
@@aidancurry218 yeah I see what you mean

I think all the Hatchetfield shows are about someone's worst fears coming true. In TGWDLM, it was Paul's, because he doesn't like musicals and his life became one, and most of his friends were killed or apotheosisized because of it. In Black Friday, it was General McNamara's because he had to face the fact that the country he loves is actually not so great as he watches the world he has sworn to protect fall apart. In The Hatchetfield Ape Man, it was Lucy's fiance's worst fear because he knew what was going on, but she fell in love with someone else, then he died. Plus, she was right all along about there being an Ape Man. And in WatcherWorld, it was Alice's worst fear because she had to deal with her dad, who basically confirmed that he didn't like her and tried to kill her, all while having to sit through something both disturbing and childish instead of being able to prevent Deb cheating on her (and she had to face her fear of heights).

Bill helping Alice down the stairs and asking about her at as shes having a panic attach is some of the best writing I've ever seen. And Cory and Mariahs acting is just phenomanal in that scene.
(SPOILERS) It may sound silly but I think I could write a whole essay on Watcher World specifically when it comes to Alice's relationship to Bill.
I usually find these daddy-daughter relationships in genre stuff insufferable; you can feel the mean spirited bullshit of the middle-aged man writing it. The daughters are generally either helpless victims or given heavy handed "respect yo' father spoilt little girl" arcs, often both in the worst circumstances.
Here, Alice saves herself as much as her Dad saves her and the reconciliation isn't capped with her being shamed or greatly humbled, but simply throwing her Dad a bone because she knows he deserves it.
I kinda love it personally because while the narrative acknowledges Alice's flaws, it doesn't necessarily shame her for them which I appreciate.

When Alice is explaining her play to Bill he was just being so encouraging like sounds great even when all she had said was that there was a girl. When she said that there was a vampire he was all like sounds scary, but when she said that it was a comedy he said sounds funny and Bill was such a good dad at that moment
bill seems like a good dad overall. She’s just being immature about the divorce
@@somnodaur8064 I'm sorry, I don't think it's immature to be upset that you got ripped away from everything you knew by a man who keeps infantilizing you. Add to that, Bill refuses to accept what she wants to do with her life until he uses it to distract her. All "good parent" points earned by that moment are nullified when you realize that he is the reason they're up there. He asks why she doesn't tell him stuff but he belittles what she does tell him. The Alice he has in his head is no longer accurate to how his daughter actually thinks now. Instead of learning who his daughter is now, he tries to force her back to the way she was. This is what happens a lot with homophobic/transphobic parents. Their child isn't the way they want them to be so they think they can just fix it at the expense of the child. I don't think he's malicious, I just think that he needs to be willing to accept that who his daughter dates is not his choice. He should talk to her about what is and isn't a healthy relationship and have an open conversation with her is he really wants to do something. Separating her from that person is just going to make things worse. Then they become star-crossed lovers and it becomes us vs them. This is going to leave Alice with issues with authority if it hasn't already. I know this because I've seen it over and over and over again with my friends parents while living in the suburban midwest.
@@Galfuria_to be clear, Bill isn't homophobic, he just hates Deb, the girlfriend, specifically. At least in the apotheosis universe. That doesn't make his behavior any better, I just thought it was important for context.

When Snigglett says “I don’t want to do this anymore,” to us, the watchers with a thousand eyes, and Snigglox, “says Blinky, “Blinky commands it” it’s like Blinky demands that Snigglett stays in the Black and White (as another commenter mentions, it is the script. black in on a white page.). Okay, but when Blinky was said to be watching with a thousand eyes, I freaked the hell out.
In Trail To Oregon, y'all remember when Jack Bauer swallowed some snake venom and saw the audience? He described them as "the watchers with a thousand eyes". Could Trail To Oregon possibly linked to this Hatchetfield universe? And keep in mind that the audience, "the watchers" were described as taking pleasure in seeing the family's pain. What does Blinky do? He takes pleasure in Alice and Bill's fight, in their pain, *in their familial problems*.
So this being has been around since roughly the 1800s based off of Trail to Oregon. Also, Blinky must be tied into Wiggly somehow, as Drowsy Town and The Sniggles make a reappearance. Personally, I'm going to agree with another person's headcanon that they're boyfriends, but it's just interesting to note.
TL;DR: We were Blinky the whole time.
Also on the cortine call of TGWLM Emma talks to the public "why are you claping?"/ "someone help me". So maybe when they are in a death moment (same as in Oregon) they can see us.
Wait... if we were blinky the whole time... WERE WE WIGGLY'S SIGNIFICANT OTHER ALL ALONG?

1:47:00 So Matt improvised the underscoring throughout the whole show?? The talent in this company I am constantly amazed! Like he fully brought in character motifs and themes from other shows. I was sitting there thinking that the music was so clever and it was all improvised???!!!
Matt is so goddamn underrated it's not even funny
Exactly!!! Lord, when bits of Not Your Seed came in during Watcherworld I lost my sh*t. And when Hidgens is telling Lucy to marry him or die, and Matt plays Join Us -or- and Die? Brilliant. And how could I forget the iconic chords of Show Stoppin' Number whenever Hidgens' love of theatre/ Workin' Boys came up! And (!!!) when he wasn't expertly referencing past music, the music that was completely improvised was always spot on for the scene all on its own! Gosh, he's incredible.
Okay I need to mention more things.
- The music from TGWDLM's "Okay" scene being used at 1:08:45 which is so perfectly fitting (edit: corrected TGWDLM's spelling)
- How that "aliens invading minds" melody, the one at the start of both The Ape-Man and Watcherworld, pops up everywhere
- Finishing with Inevitable! (!!!) (!!!!!)
@@weesalikesmilktea4829 the scoring that i especially noticed was the use of ‘not your seed’ through the watcher world story but ESPECIALLY near the end when things are starting to patch up in a bittersweet way the motif from the like ‘why does it hurt to love you’ breakdown from the original song started playing!! blew my entire mind! it’s so perfect bc the og song felt like alice regaining and bit of herself for a moment during that breakdown and now it’s used in a similar way here when they’ve broken the spell of Blinky for eachother. story telling through scores is so incredibly under appreciated
Ted loved “A Show Stopping Number” so much that in this one, (I don’t know how the hatchetfeild time thing works), he’s now working with proffessor hidgens to make it a reality and I think that’s beautiful and I love it.
I think its an alternate reality
In the Ape Man timeline, TGWDLM never happened, but since all characters seem to essentially retain their personality traits, it's perfectly possible that Ted got to know Hidgens some other way (might have been thru Paul and Emma dating, but also Hatchetfield is both a shithole town and an island, so it's not surprising if, among locals, everyone knows everyone), heard his pitch and vowed to help him produce the show no matter what, being such a fan of it
"Fuckin go for it"
Jon laughing every time Robert rolls off camera is everything

They already made the second reference in twisted

Ted's nerdy little brother has to be hot chocolate boy, otherwise we riot.
The nerdy guy who works at cineplex?
Either option would be great
I think it’s hot chocolate boy because did you notice how at the end of black Friday ted, Charlotte and HCboy were all holding hands, maybe in that universe ted and Charlotte are married and he’s really close to his brother. He would still have the same brother in other universes but maybe in ape man he doesn’t have the same job and isn’t married. In watcher bill and teds relationship seems to be the same so it is safe to assume he works at the same place with bill and Paul as he did in TGWDLM. Which would mean HC boy could be his brither

Ya know I get that Bill and Alice have problems, but damn does Alice grind your gears as a character. She is being played perfectly but it seems every single show with Corey I feel bad for him. Divorced dad, kid doesn’t like him, wife stolen by lobsters, one-sided romance with McDoon, or he is a rejected tally-wacker.
His daughter doesn't like him because he's a bad father. The few things she tells him he critiques and gives her flack for. He's mad because she is a fully formed human and not exactly what he wants her to be.
@@Galfuria_this. Like, yeah Alice COULD'VE HAD a bit more communication with her dad, but so many problems in their relationship also came from Bill.
Just one example is when she said "[losing friends, losing her gf, moving to fcking Clivesdale😡], none of this is my fault." Bill agreed with her saying "you're right, none of it is your fault", and Alice SMILED, like finally maybe her dad is acknowledging how he fcked up sometimes. But no, he just went on to blame her mom and not taking any of the blame, and she went back to being even more disappointed with him.
I've once read a post saying "some divorced parents hate their ex more than they love their kids" and i think that scene showed exactly this.
@@kullaratt.9336 Exactly. Rule of thumb: any parents who can have their mind warped to not just kill their kid but to ALMOST SMASH THEIR FACE IN WITH A MALLET is not a good dad.
I understand the argument of "he was under the spell of the lords in black" but when Tom was under a very similar spell, he became obsessed with giving his son everything he wants. It just shows the type of person they are and why Bill really isn't a good dad. He's not trying to make Alice happy, he's trying to make himself happy by feeling better than his ex-wife.
It's also really interesting to compare Alice and Bills relationship to Stephanie and her dad (I can't remember his name). Both dads care more about what the world thinks of them than what their kid does, Stephanie's dad is just more honest about it.
I don't think can compare Bill and Tom here.
The motives where completely different. Wiggly was warping peoples mind to want him, and to want to bring him into the world. Blinky was just doing this for his own entertainment.
We would also have to presume that Watcher World would be a place where Blinky's influence is strongest. In TGWDLM, being near the meteor was enough to start converting the titular character, and that meteor is later connected to Pokey.
And lastly, Tom wasn't near his son in the height of his madness.
@@leotamer5 yeah, but even in the car ride over to Watcher World and before the meteor in TGWDLM, Bill still never cared about what Alice wants. He wants to make himself happy and wants her to stay the same as when she was a child after forcing her to go through major life changes.
