It is a ratta maar kind of answer, not a technically correct answer. Technically correct answer is that the phase difference between induced current and voltage is high in rotor in induction motor that leads to less torque. In slip ring induction motor, addition of high resistance at start reduces the phase angle and that enables production of more torque at start.
Torque is nothing but angular force.
