I don’t understand how people are saying they’re bad friends for this. If anything they’re really thoughtful. Amy is a very reserved person, and this is something she loves to do.
Agreed. They know how modest she is, and went with what she said. A lot of shows go the other way around, forcing the crazy stuff on somebody that said they didn't want it. Then when she said that she did actually want it, they were willing to go out and do that. They had no control over how quickly she passed out, but they were willing to lie to her and tell her that she had the crazy time she said she wanted.

Lol. Friends. I wonder what that's like. I wanted to book a private party at a Laser Tag joint, complete with pizza delivery later. 2 of my friends said I couldnt/shouldn't plan my own party. I told them what I wanted, told them the venue, and even explained how the process worked
They proceeded to book a boring back room (waaay in the back) at an Olive Garden. They said a laser tag party was stupid for "our" age. I showed up because to do otherwise would have been rude, after their effort, but.....🖓.

It was a dull disappointment to me.
Mad respect to Penny and Bernadette for their original bachelorette party, actually. They couldn't know what Amy wanted since she didn't tell them -- and they couldn't guess that her "don't want it" and "I promised Sheldon" meant "yes please" -- and they went with her wishes. They knew her well enough to know she would love quilting. And not only that, but they didn't complain about it, they probably found it boring as all hell but they put on a happy face and pretended to have fun. No criticism for her tastes. Shows how they've grown since the wedding dress accident. I really appreciate what they did for Amy.

I'm glad you still like it. I loved the first few seasons but then it changed. It still has its funny moments though, that's why I still watch the occasional clip on CZcams even though I stopped watching the actual show years ago.

That's one of the biggest clichés in TV sitcoms -- making someone think there won't be a party, and then SURPRISE! There IS a party after all! I'm glad TBBT's writers didn't succumb to such a worn-out trope.
No doubt the show has some parallels to _Friends,_ but the characterizations are still uniquely TBBT. The male characters are still just as geeky as ever; they've just learned to adapt their personalities to the women in their lives (who, with the exception of Penny, are just as geeky as their boyfriends/husbands.)
My CBS affiliates air new TBBT episodes on Thursdays and reruns from previous seasons on other weekdays, and I can't say that I see that much of a difference.
Jhillst Ah right cause the alternative was so much better? They literally took her to a random pub for her bacherlorette party. The cliche at least makes it seem like they are friends and care about each other.
The way they did it just makes me dislike Penny and Bernadette for being such terrible friends that they didnt organise a proper party for their friend.
I liked it because it helped Penny and Bernadette realize Amy had a wild side they weren't aware of. Amy is typically presented as a very stoic, career-driven woman with little sexual desire or fantasy, so her friends planned her party accordingly. Until now, her wild side was kept hidden from everyone except the home audience (e.g., the scene in which she imagines Sheldon as a train conductor) and Sheldon himself.

My bachelorette party was pizza, wings and movies at home. It was fantastic.
I had a girls night in. Order in from a local diner, a couple presents, Father of the Bride, my MOH made us a great drink, sleepover.
Partially because of Covid restrictions, partially me have the alcohol tolerance of a squirrel, partially what I like.

Bernadette asking James Maslow if they do body shots is extremely underrated.
The show is either ending with sheldon being married, or after Raj gets married as well so they live happy ever after. The quality of the show just started dropping after Bernadette had the first kid and everyone started getting married. Hopefully it'll end with a big bang with sheldon's wedding and call it good.
I loved this show, I loved watching it with my parents. After my dad died, my life for the show did too. I want it to end peacefully not be dragged across the road until every last bit is scraped off.

this is why the writer strike is so justified. These actors are superb of course, so talented! But the writers provide the content and the story line for them to take it to the next level.
