Dislikes 78! There should not be a dislike button for ignorant people. This man is a genius and has never read a note in his life because he is blind. He has a supernatural gift. To those who criticize, don't; until you have walked a mile in another man's shoes.
Nobuyuki plays the melancholy passages w. such heart-rending beauty - its very touching - and the interaction between the pianist and orchestra is just perfectly balanced...
Music's soul shines. This is a complete dedication; nothing distracts Tsujee from the life of and in each sound. The embodied cognition meets his sensitive and kind nature. Magic. He should also play Schubert.

I think a special thanks should go to his teacher. my former teacher has a blind piano student, the effort you have to make is tremendous lot. You need put his hand on your hand and get familiar with every single jump on the score. Bravo, to you Nobuyuki! and to your teacher!!

Difficult to imagine how he learns a piece in the first place; does he start with a braille type score? - that would be awfully slow you would think as he would have to use his fingers to read the score! Or perhaps he somehow learns the whole thing first before going near a piano? Or is his musical brain so good that - like Mozart - he can picture the score on hearing a piece played?
lsbrother It seems that he has a God given talent to play any combination of notes once after listening to any sounds, even very very complicated ones. There is a CZcams clip how he learns a new piece with his professor. It was astonishing to see how he could do that.

There is Braille music. I had a good friend once who was a sensational pianist and unsighted.I helped to transcribe some of the music for her (very slow work back then) but in addition to that, she had perfect pitch, a memory that was nothing short of miraculouss and could play almost anything after hearing it a few times.That was a while ago. By now there must be complete libraries of braille music.

He calls these "scores for the ears." The notes for each hand are recorded on separate tapes. This is possible because Nobu has extraordinary hearing and perfect pitch. But then the technique and the interpretation -- that's all up to Nobu himself.
+Bill Elsner In Nobu's very younger days, mom found something unusual when he listened Chopin's Polonaise played by Bunin. She tried other pianists, however, Nobu did not feel fun. Once more when he listened Stanislav Bunin's playing, his mom found Nobu so excited to move his body! Then his family determined to give him a music study. I read this article in his book in Japan.

It sounds an incredibly laborious process - other pianists record each hand separately along with voice instructions as to the score markings - forte, pedal etc etc. Then he has to listen to the tapes - bit by bit presumably - and memorise and try it out at same time. I don't think many people would have the patience - but I suppose he has no choice. Isn't possible these days to convert a score into a MIDI recording and a digital piano play it?

このコンクールから10年後に、辻井さんのピアコン１番、生演奏で聴きました。出だしの１音から素晴らしかった✨ 主題のメロディーが切なくて、胸が締め付けられるようでした。
辻井さんの生演奏は「いつまでも聴いていたい！」「終わって欲しくない！」と思ってしまいます。特に協奏曲は最終楽章に入ると「ああ、もうすぐ終わってしまうのか…」って。時間がたつのがはやい

本日、第18回ショパンコンクールが終わりました。殆どのファイナリストのコンチェルトを聴きましたが‥‥どの演奏者も、あらゆる点において辻井さんのこの演奏には遠く及ばないと、個人的に強く感じました。
好みもあるでしょうが、改めて聴くと、本当に｢非の打ち所が無い｣(指揮者のコンロン氏の評価)素晴らしいコンチェルトです。聴く度に心を揺さぶられます。
辻井君の演奏、今までソロばかり聴いてきました。コンチェルトも、柔らかみがあって、もれなく良い!

ほんとに素晴らしい演奏。特に4：53あたりのメロディの演奏。美しいと思う。まるでポップスを聴いているような粋に感じる奏法。なぜかポップス系のピアニストのリチャード・クレイダーマンを思い出した。一人でにやにやしてしまった。

辻井さんの活動を見ていると、日本が狭くかんじられます。日本人の島国根性、排他性、ときどき嫌になります。辻井さんは、世界の檜舞台に立つべき人だと思います。親御さんの支えもあるし、どちらかというと、モーツァルト的な天才の部類に属するピアニストといって良いのではないでしょうか。お父様とお母様が御健在で何よりでした。そういう環境でないと、出来ないこともあります。もっともっと極めてください。今のままでも十分良いですけど。
