#EDH #shorts #Commander - Hry
How poetic this combo spans the three block releases of Mirrodin/Phyrexia.
That's...actually really cool
“Perfection is both the process and the destination” -Phyrexians dropping bars
It was free real estate for improvement
Curse those Phyrexian bastards for compleating my boy Venser's corpse like that...
Man they just melted him on memnarch.
You can tell they were PISSED he freed Karn
Given how his journal works, he deserves it.
This might be the most flavorful combo considering the cards.
There is beauty in death. Sometimes you just let stuff die. The end of a story is so much better than the shambling of a corpse
poetic
Yet another dross scorpion combo. I like it with liquidmetal torque/coating and goblin welder.
Venser out here being a shadow superfriends commander
Any commander can be a superfriends commander if you have enough money or enough determination to play a bad deck
It can be done also in Sultai with Intruder Alarm and the green beast (i dont remember the name) that says "Tap, sacrifice a creature: Proliferate"
Plaguemaw Beast for anyone wondering. 👌🏾
Dross Scorpion prices just spiked bc of this lol...great combo though
...is that...planeswalker venser?!
yup
@@drunkenbugsuck I looked it up. He was reanimated by the phyrexians. Crazy
I found this combo as soon as he was spoiled actually. Feel like he'd be a really strong commander, specifically with all the new Proliforate cards.
I just hope new MTG players remember YOU CHOOSE who gets counters. I can see an opponent lying to someone e that they get poison counters at the sane time they do and loses the game.
Yes, tokens do in fact go to the graveyard first.
Has that always been the case?
with scheming aspirant on field opponents will drain for two and you'll gain two life each time you proliferate
evil combo. I love it.
And Jace the Perfected Mind just got a lot better
If you have this combo, Ichormoon Gauntlet, and any Planeswalker, congratulations on compleating Dialga.
The combo is lent very reliable with so many pieces needed but it’s flavor is on point.
Had a feel blue and black was gonna be one of the nastier decks out of phyrexia💯💧💀
"whenever" is scary
Posted this combo the day venser was spoiled
Poor Tom Brady
Though it may not be in the Dimir colors you can do a similar combo with the new Vencer tainted observer, and Ashnod's altar
Venser made a sliver....it was able to tap into the hive mind. We might get a phyrexian sliver
Hmm... Toxic, flying, trampling, slivers with +7/+7.
@@The_Dying_Rose i am still holding out hope for a sliver planeswalker. "after getting thrown to the reaches of the multiverse, it had awoken something impossible, a spark. although it no longer had a queen to guide it, it no longer needed one. Venser's sliver knew that the time had come. Once a mear construct, now the last hope for a race that was almost snuffed out."
And then Phyrexian eldrazi slivers!
@@BaronSengir1008 we now know what happened to venser! They ruined my boy!!
The fact that phyrexia is using Vencers soulless corpse is crazy lol
Finally! We broke Dross Scorpion
I don’t think that works as dross scorpion says when a creature is put into the grave yard and I don’t think creature tokens trigger into grave abilities do they?
they do. they just cease to exist after
Perfect! I NEEDED that untap
There is just one thing… Token don’t get put into the graveyard which is why I think this combo would not work. Dross Scorpion is worded ‘whenever…. is put into the graveyard….’
God this new set is looking sweet!
This is going into my infect deck tonight!
On flavor combo pieces, nice 👍
I was already the reason that my playgroup kills dross scorpion, time to give them even more reasons.
Looks like i need a new Venser, sad to see this is how he ended up but glad to see the ability as my proliferate deck is all about putting out golems through golem foundry and now gives me an excuse to add black to the deck
I was already thinking about doing something like this, I'm probably gonna stuff it with a bunch of planeswalkers and stall and simply win with value.
this is how u win with the millennium calender
i play in the three pre-release of each cards and i have the 3 cards -sigma look-
NONONO NOT VENSER NOOOOO
Building a pyrexian deck rn and this is def getting added ty sir
I actually just pulled Venser yesterday
Saving this!
CZcams must want me to play Bolas Superfreinds, because the colors and some of the cards I am seeing would work perfectly in that commander deck.
But the token would never actually hit the graveyard, so dross scorpion's ability wouldn't trigger. When a token is sacrificed or destroyed, and leaves the battlefield, it ceases to exist. It doesn't hit graveyard or exile.
Suprised I had to scroll far to see this
@@RaikaTempest surprised I didn't have to scroll further to see this. Tokens do go to the graveyard, they're removed from it as a state based effect, so they do trigger dross scorpion.
@@mrlescure Ah, my mistake. In Yu-Gi-Oh that's not how it works, should have known magic did it differently
Wonder what planeswalkers fit to this combo
You can also combo in EDH with venser with Tainted Observer and either KCI or Ashnod's Altar... Although not with venser as your commander sadly
You can use grinding station instead of the dross
Tainted observer and ashnods alter is an infinite combo with vensen as well
I'm so glad this isn't selesnya
Oh no! Venser! 😢
Are tokens put into the graveyard?
Anyone know a decklist for this? Seems pretty cool.
Phyrexia stays winning once again
Poor venser :(
On the one hand, it's a 3+1 (the one being any random artifact) card combo, so pretty darn jank. On the other, at least Venser can be your commander, the 3 artifacts are pretty cheap, and infinite proliferate can be game ending with a number of options (a planeswalker with a good ultimate probably being the most notable one).
Definitely a fun one.
Just add in a disciple of the vault or blood artist/zulaport cutthroat to kill everybody lol
Um. The golem is a token. It never touches the graveyard....
Kinda pricy but throw a grinding station in there to mill and kill
Do tokens really get "put into graveyard"? I thought they're exiled when they die.
I thought tokens don't go to the graveyard so does this combi still work?
But don't tokens never enter the graveyard and directly vanish?
Couldn't this also mean an infinite damage combo with Blood Artist?
Yes
@@Skindrift that was a very concise answer. Thank you.
Disciple of the vault would be even better.
@@iankane3732 I had never heard of that card!
Thank you!
Aren't tokens put into exile?
The token never gets "put into your graveyard so that won't work, thank you
Plus it is legendary
Tokens trigger dying effects, as they go into the graveyard, and then cease to exist. This works 100%. A relevant look at the rule is 111.7 "A token that's in a zone other than the battlefield ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.)" The important part of that ruling is the part in parentheses.
@@irondogkiller3571 The Legendary typing doesn't matter. As soon as you tap Throne of Geth, you sacrifice the Hollow Sentinel as its cost, and proliferate. Because you sacrificed Sentinel, you no longer control the token, and that allows Venser's trigger to happen, giving you the token again, and allowing the loop.
@@DarkestFiction true but the legendary running should still happen
@irondogkiller3571 it won't and doesn't matter. You sacrifice the Sentinel to Throne. It's gone. After the proliferate happens from Throne, Venser triggers. You create that token, then sacrifice it to Throne again.
Wait I didn't know tokens go to graveyard
But tokens go to the cemitery?
Do tokens enter the graveyard?
Yes, and then they immediately disappear...
So basically a 4 card combo
Ok,but there's a trouble... Venser creates a TOKEN It never touches the graveyard if It will, instead is just removed from the game, you can see examples of this in mtg arena
Incorrect.
Tokens die. They may not have in the past (I can't remember 100%) but they do now, but as soon as they hit the graveyard they no longer exist.
The same is true with Commanders now. If your commander WOULD go to the graveyard and instead you replace it by putting it into the command zone, you still get the death/dying trigger associated.
doesn't this not work because tokens don't go into graveyards? Like...the ability won't trigger because when a token dies it just disappears, right? idk
A creature dying is defined as it going into the graveyard from the battlefield... The fact that the token immediately disappears as soon as it goes to any zone other than the battlefield is irrelevant... It still goes to the graveyard...
@@BaronSengir1008 OHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIII I DIDN'T KNOW THAT 💀
But the token never reaches the graveyard? How would you be able to sac it to trigger the enter the graveyard effect?
Tokens still hit the graveyard though
Tokens don’t go into the graveyard or am I just a nub?
Rule 111.7 explains this. The important part is in the parentheses, where it says that a token changing zones will cease to exist, but will still trigger abilities.
but tokens don't go to graveyard
dross scorpion is it a broken card
Why not just play thassas oracle + Pact? In casual it's basically the same thing. Unfun win out of nowhere combo
Dross Scorpion is a goofy ass card.
This combo wouldn't work with the golem token, tokens don't actually go to the graveyard when they're destroyed, sacrificed or killed, they're just removed from the board, much like an exile effect
This is false. 100% unequivocally false. The game state sees tokens hit the grave then they ceases to exist. (Unless it refers to "cards", but this isn't). Make sure you take this time to update your knowledge so you do not misinform someone in the future.
But what are you going to do with that combo? Lol
Win? Infinite infect counters, infinite turns, etc
@@KrayZieTyler thing is tho you gotta get a poison counter on them. But to be fair by the time you set up the combo you will probably definitely have poison counters on your opponent
Disciple of the vault
Did they change the rules to make tokens touch the graveyard when they die before they cease to exist? My understanding is tokens only exist on the battlefield and thus cannot be put into any other zone. So sacrificing the token would not trigger the scorpion’s untap ability.
Yes
Dross scorpion is when it us put into graveyard
Surely the scorpion doesn't trigger as if you sac the token with throne it doesn't hit the graveyard for the trigger???
Except it does... The token disappears as soon as it hits the graveyard, but it does go there...
Tokens don't go to graveyard
Yes they do, they just stop existing afterward.
@@andrewpearson463 you're right, I forgot to delete after fact checking... They stay exactly as long as death triggers take x3
but dont tokens not go into the graveyard? so it wouldn't trigger dross scorpion?
Dross scorpion says "put ina graveyard" unless he has an oracle text this doesn't work with the tokens
It does, tokens go to the graveyard
@@KrayZieTyler How? Unless I missed something they can't touch the graveyard because they are not "real cards" just like they can't go in the deck or hand. They should only trigger effects like "sacrifice" "dies" "leaves the battlefield" and not "put in a graveyard".
@@GRtogetaBIC Tokens hit the yard then cease to exist.
@@terradusa4219 I will have to check on that, but if true, it means so many fucking triggers missed on Commander
not sure about but does creature tokens are put into a graveyard?!.... ^^
Jep, dieing means "put into graveyard from battlefield", so they hit the gy :)
I thought so too, but the rules say that when the token changes zones, it dissapears *after* abilities trigger from its death.
Did they change the rules to make tokens
Wait, but when a creature token dies it doesn't go to the grave right? The scorpion thing says the artifact has to go to the graveyard. What am I missing?
I thought the same thing
Came looking for this comment
Tokens hit the graveyard then cease to exist.
I thought tokens don't hit the graveyard. So it would not work..?
Tokens do hit the graveyard first, and then cease to exist.
But tokens can't go to graveyards so the combo won't work
@@Rioxma Really? I always thought that they just disappear
@@Rioxma true
Lol. MTG is literally a children's game at this point.
This doesn't work because hollow sentinel is a legendary creature.
And? Legendary just means you can't have multiples of it out under your control at a time... The fact that you keep sacrificing it means you never have more than one out...
Isn't the token never put into the graveyard? In other words, since a token dies, isn't it exiled and the untapping ability never triggers?
Tokens do, in fact, go to the graveyard before they cease to exist due to state-based actions. So they trigger all the normal dies triggers that doesn't specify either nontoken (e.g. Blight Mound), or card (e.g. Sefris). See rule 111.7
This combo is very weak in any format it's legal in.
Comboing 🤢
That's way too many cards to pull off this combo. If any of those pieces get removed, then you're just stuck with a bunch of cards that do nothing
Three card combo in commander is pretty reasonable
@connorosborne3545 not really. The only time they work is in very low-power games. I've tried multiple times to put together a 3 card combo in medium to high-power decks and they've literally never worked. So unless you're playing a bunch of noobs with shitty decks then they're not good. There are hundreds of 2 card combos and redundancies. They're too inefficient and slow.
@@kingginger3335 To each their own. If i remember to, ill let you know how the venser loops go once i get it built.
Disagree, I think dross scorpion is the only “useless” card here. If you’re already building your deck around proliferation and counters (which is the only shell where this is useful anyway) then both throne and geth and Venser are perfectly reasonable cards to be running. I do agree that it’s a fairly slow/obtuse combo to pull off though.
@@kingginger3335 the only thing is that vesner could be a two drop in the command zone and a two card combo if done right could be high power to cedh
This combo doesn't work as tokens aren't put into graveyards so you wouldn't get the trigger to untap
I'm pretty sure they do go to the graveyard and then get removed from existence once the game checks for their location.
Oh, ok. I thought Tokens were just removed from the battlefield when they die but I looked up the rule and you're right.
Tokens still change zones they just don't exist in non battlefield zones so they cease to exist when they hit your graveyard, hand or exile
“Tokens go to the graveyard as regular creatures, and are removed as a "state-based effect" when a player gets priority again. They stay in the graveyard long enough to trigger abilities, like the one of Soulcatchers' Aerie , before they are removed.”
turn 1 use thoughtsieze to discard venser, corpse puppet and completely avoid dealing with another dumb janky inifinite combo
