  • 24th étape of the Camino Francés from Rabanal del Camino to Ponferrada.
All étapes/videos to Santiago de Compostela are going to be uploaded over the next days and weeks.
After many journeys on the Camino de Santiago in the past ten years, this time the focus lies on the video project. Thus not a lot of stopping and exploring during the étapes (some breaks and encounters are cut out).
COVID-19: Filmed in the summer of 2020 when Spain and the Camino including most albergues were open again for a few weeks after the first lockdown. Masks in all albergues, bars/restaurants and when crossing cities. There will likely never again be as few people on the Camino as in summer of 2020.
Hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for watching and maybe see you on the Camino one day :-)
    BUEN CAMINO!
Music (on some occasions the tracks may be altered/cut a bit):
    Tomorrow - ANBR
    Childhood - ANBR
    Meadow - ANBR
Time to Rise - C.K. Martin
    Shalosh Seudot - Yaacov Alkobi

Sorry, this étape is a bit bumpy and an even harder challenge to watch. What seems to make the motion of the timelapse video calmer is to watch it on a small display like a smartphone in vertical position (not full screen).

@@cncdaddio Thank you!! You`re right😳 I forgot about that and didn`t even see when preparing the video. But I can still remember how amazed I was then.

I am very grateful for your channel. It is like meditation for me. I start watching a day on the Camino, and at once, I am transported back to my days walking the same route. I feel every emotion, every ache, every pain, and the triumphant ending of each day, and it is glorious!

Thank you. This is great to see the surface of the path. I was wondering how come there were so few people. Now I remember because I was there in 2021 and it was very quiet. It was wonderful! Thank you for these great videos. I just fell upon yours when a freind asked me how the path was inn that area. I will have her look at these. Buen camino de la vida.

I`m so glad to hear that, thank you very much! There are a few videos where I`m not happy with the music and maybe I`m going to reupload them (#2 for example). Thank you!

What an amazing day of walking over difficult terrain. I think you must be a machine! Lol! Thank you for putting together this series of videos. They are fantastic.

Haha😄 thank you so much for watching! Sometimes I can`t believe how I managed to walk so easily two years ago. This is only the first half of the day, the next episode #25 is the same day and its close to 60km totally. It was a day when I felt particularly well and wanted to happily walk as far as my feet would take me. Now a month ago in Portugal it was so different, the second day being one of the most painful because of very sore legs. I`m trying to prepare now for the Camino Norte/Costa in the hopes of a relaxed experience🤞

That’s a long day. I was beat by the time I hit Molinaseca.

Yes I usually am too and next time I think I will stay in Molinaseca again, it`s just so beautiful, especially coming from the wild terrain over the mountain. And then maybe stay a couple of hours in Ponferrada the next day.
The next episode #25 is still the same day, one of my longest days on the Camino. That day everything just went so well and I really enjoyed it. Happy and very exhausted in the evening😄

You really are a fast walker. I noticed that you always overtake other pilgrims. The only pilgrims who passes by you are the cyclists 🚴‍♀️.

The year 2020 was very different from my other caminos. Since I specifically walked it for this video project I tried to walk and film as steadily as possible, stopping only when necessary (eating, toilette etc.). Constantly filming was quite exhausting and I was very relieved when I could take off the equipment in the evenings.
Filmed the whole camino francés in 2019 with a much more "normal" way of walking and the video is very unpleasant to watch with the constant stopping and looking around.
Also when focussing very much on walking and the way itself, my comfort speed just automatically was like that. While the filming wasn`t pleasant all day, just straight walking really felt quite well. It was a nice experience to see how far the legs would take me.
Another point to me was it seemed the least disturbing to other pilgrims when I just pass them and film mostly only from behind. Eventhough I really wanted to film this, I always felt bad just to automatically capture who ever was in front of me.
Then in the last week(s) the borders of spain were closing any moment because of increasing covid-numbers so everyone became a little nervous.
When in earlier years I took up to 6 weeks (back when I did mostly analog black and white photography), this time in 2020 only 3 weeks (but up to 60km a day #24 and #25 in one day).
