    I saw the 1864 series, and i loved it. I am a big supporter of practical effects, but when you have no other option, then you have to make it good, and this was without a doubt, good use of CGI

      The director was completely crazy. One of the actors was even injured by the shockwave, after it looked "too soft" in one of the scenes.
      The extras were given actual sharp bayonets durring the charge (that's why they look not quite happy hitting each other in the scene).
      One day the shoot was canceled after 29 people were taken away by ambulance...
      Yet the end result looks great, that's true...

    Well done on blending CGI with practical effects. Bravo.

  • @presidentlouis-napoleonbon8889

    It seems they shot multiple scenes and put them all in one, making it seem like a gigantic battle.

      @@jpj77263 yes, I thought the same. The German officers, troops and the hussars in particular are shown in the 1864 series as quite bad warriors

      Martin & Tomáš the snow scenes were filmed in CZ at Milovice Red Tails Forest. Also where they abandon the DK fort and hide from the Hussars and confront the deserters. We also shot at Libochovice Castle, Bttandov Studios (Prague), Otrocineves, Sykorice (Sandelmark Road / Forest) & Milovice (Dybbol at Bridge, Prussion & Danish front line and forts). We also shot in Prague - Janackovo (Monrad's & Heiberg's), Terezin (Pub in Frederica & Field Hospital), Lednice (English Castle & Bismarck's home), Lednice (King Wiihelm's Palace + Bismarck's office), Brno (Royal Theatre Macbeth), Jaromerice Castle. Most of the battle sequences were shot in Milovice. Beroun Arena (Germany pow camp), Prague National Museum (King's Council Chamber, Halls & Monrad's office), Prague Garnison (De Meza, Gerlach's & Brothel), Dobris Castle (Wilhelm's), Tismice (Sonderborg Church) the rest was shot in Denmark.

    Still an unrealistic, antihistorical movie. One might call it propaganda.

    • @denist7391
      @denist7391 Před 3 lety +2

      I would not call it a historical movie. That's more like a postmodern tale about all the spheres of human life. Something like "War and peace", but shown in a modern way.

    • @thitran1362
      @thitran1362 Před 3 lety +1

      Hard to call it propaganda when what I got out of the movie is that the Danish leadership was fucking stupid. I am not sure any propaganda wanna portrait their leader that way?

    • @jpj77263

      @@thitran1362 Good point, however the Dansih government of the time of that war obviously isn't in power any more. The moviemakers are not propagandizing for that governemnt, but for Danish nationalism in general. Thus the failure to mention those Germans who didn't want to be forced to become Danes and over whom this war was fought. Thus also the ahistorical portrayal of Denmark's enemy.
