Didn't like the gen 8 at first but i'm really loving it now. Seeing the potential and styling possibilities on this car makes me want one baaad.

Me as well. Only thing that really irritates me is the haptic buttons.. also the climate control or the volume (one of the two) buttons doesn’t light up at night

Seriously, when will the EA888 start to be recognised as the greatest tuning engine in modern era?
It’s not even funny how capable it is with a few bolt ons. With the big hybrid they’re making around 550hp, and have now run out of fuel pump. Absolutely wild for a stock 2.0 😂
For me the top 3 modern engines are ea888 b58 and the rs3 daza engine all incredible power plants.
@@sprogleymotorsport thank you, it's a legend in its own life time, as is the Golf R. The little motor is amazing esp when you consider the BMW and Mercedes 2.0L (A35) don't take kindly to higher power.

What a nice build, really rate the new Mk8 Clubsports and Rs. I'd like to see more exhaust sound clips, a standing rev, more fly-bys, whenever it gets interesting the video is cut short. Keep it up tho Luke!
We are currently putting a much more in depth video of our Mk8 together which will include a healthy section of exhaust sounds 😊
This car is a Clubsport so it’s a sick base to start with, now with these mods it’s just different level.
Tbh I have no idea why someone would go for the GTI CS when they're planning on adding power. It's just a waste at these levels with FWD.
Because some of us choose that.
@@dacmmon a dry track where this car is most at home, it hooks up perfectly, very manageable power! The day of filming was cold and damp so less than ideal conditions for the car but hey, that’s UK weather for you

I love the performance aspects of the golf r but the GTI in my option has always looked better
great taste in car and upgrades. wish i could say the same about his fashion sense.

@@sprogleymotorsport Yeah VW tried to make location similar to ID4. Lots of the MK8 interior styling are coming from VW newer EV line.

I have a GTI and where I live it's winter half the year, but dry a lot of the rest of the year. I would never own a 2WD in a country where the roads are wet way more days then they are not. I love EURO style, but using the preformance is so often ruined with your crap weather. It's actually hard to find many car videos where the roads are dry and you can actually show the power. And well, this is another wet street video.
Ill admit to being slightly confused as to why people would want that type of power in a front drive car when we all know that most people are more concerned about the traffic light launch than lap times
Traffic light launches is just about the last thing we care about 😁 a damp UK B road in winter isn’t the best way of showcasing the car, but on a warm track with the semi slicks on it would put this power down no problem at all 😊
@@sprogleymotorsport no disrespect was intended but many of your potential customers are interested in traffic light launching and their cars never see a track. My point being we live in the UK roads are poor and it rains and a front drive car with 450hp epic as that is for a 2.0, you see what I saying

Well you can just imagine how fast an R would be with this power output 😁 for what it’s worth, if it’s not a cold and wet day like that day was, it’s still super drivable on B roads and is a lot of fun. You just have to know how to use your right foot 😉 there was a little bit of show boating for the video letting it wheel spin it’s nuts off, but in reality is a very easy car to pedal

VW should make a Golf GTR. Based off of an R but with the 5 pot from the RS3. Make it light and widebody with upgraded suspension/brakes, etc.
Petrolheads need a send off for ICE and the MQB platform from the VW group.
These shitbox electric ID cars will never touch the MQB cars for sheer performance potential.

After market black badge cover kits - recently got them for my MK8 Golf GTI (look to be the same as the ones on this car)
Want to fit a continental turbo on my pfl cupra 290 and run similar power
Better off fitting a Littco hybrid, would be more cost effective and better performing. The conti is a beast though for a stock turbo
Nice looking/ sounding car. Watching him drive it, constantly making corrections, it does not look fun. I just don’t understand spending all that money instead of getting a Golf R. To each their own.

There’s a mk8 in Hereford running 508bhp with Quattro drive train so not the UK fastest but what a weapon
One in Hereford isn’t a club sport though

Dry, I wouldn’t bet against one of these, plus the cs has a better set up out of the box.
His is an R. Most of the Mk8 Development companies have Golf R’s which is part of the reason we went for the CS. Lots of fast R’s already but barely any fast GTI’s and CS’s

The normal GTIs still have tartan seats I’m pretty sure. Stock Clubsport seats are a nice alcantara finish which really suits the car

Not GTIs and not in the UK. There’s only 2 UK companies making hybrid turbos for the Gen4. Ours is about to have one of them and Haz has the other fitted to his Golf R.

At the time of filming, we weren’t aware of a faster Mk8 GTI in the UK. It’s all a bit of fun anyway, in the name of a good CZcams title.
