  • Longhorn Cavern State Park | Unique Texas State Park
This week, we take a quick drive from Inks Lake State Park to visit another incredible and very unique Texas State Park. Join us as we explore historic Longhorn Cavern State Park!
Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and opened in 1938, Longhorn Cavern may only be a day use park, but there is a lot to do here.
In this video, we take you along as we explore everything Longhorn Cavern State Park has to offer including the guided cave tour, hiking trails, historic CCC buildings and more.
We share what makes this cave tour unique (spoiler alert: there are only 2 publicly accessible caves like this in the United States!), how it operates a bit differently from most Texas State Parks, how to get discounts on the tours, and why you should add it to your travel plans.
This park was so much more than we expected. It is a must visit when you are traveling in the Texas Hill Country between the towns of Burnet and Marble Falls.
The cave tour at Longhorn Cavern State Park is one of the best cave tours we have taken.
For links to the park, more history that we learned, fun facts and more photos of our visit, check out our website: rvamericayall.com/us-state-pa... .

We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.
We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.
In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).
Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.

Thanks for showing us Longhorn Cavern State Park, with its most unusual Cavern, trail system and rock formations. Really enjoyed this one.

I'm 65 years old. My dad worked on the power plant in Marble falls, my mom worked at the Bluebonnet Cafe in marble falls. Anytime we had free time we was going around exploring mostly riding around looking at things! I was between the age of 8 and 10, and we went to the longhorn caverns. Seen the most there in one spot, on the road going to longhorn cavern. My dad guessed there was probably 150 deer, I know that sounds impossible. We had stopped on the side of the road and was watching them, watch them for about 15 minutes. Until another car came, and when they seen them they locked or breaks up. (I had 63 counted before the car was scared them off) It looked like when you see in the movies the with a big cattle herd, big old dust trail! Living in marble falls during that time was one of my most favorite time of my life! Thanks for bringing back memories! Oh if y'all have not try the Bluebonnet Cafe, I still heard they have the best breakfast around that area! Y'all stay safe

@@garyb4929 I live on the coast of Texas. Back then my dad was working I think it was HB Zachary. We lived in Marble falls, Bastrop and Corsicana worked on all three of these power plants! I'm not for sure if I can even remember eating at the Bluebonnet Cafe, but since my mom has passed away! It has fond memories about the place! Thank you for giving me the update about the Bluebonnet Cafe! You have a great day sir!

Politics aside... during the Great Depression, the CCC provided unemployed young men jobs with pay for the work they performed while at the same time conserving and developing natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments.
These people didn't want hand-outs, they wanted to work for their wages, to feel they were doing something important.
Years later, we're still reaping the benefits of their hard work, and by proxy, a successful government program that has proven it's worth.

Yes, leashed dogs may hike the trails with their families. Only service dogs are allowed inside the cave or park buildings.

I wonder what their reasoning was for not allowing video.

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  Před 2 měsíci +2

We think it has to do with safety. If you’re filming, you’re looking at your camera or phone constantly as you’re walking. So you could trip or step off the path accidentally.
