- Longhorn Cavern State Park | Unique Texas State Park
This week, we take a quick drive from Inks Lake State Park to visit another incredible and very unique Texas State Park. Join us as we explore historic Longhorn Cavern State Park!
Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and opened in 1938, Longhorn Cavern may only be a day use park, but there is a lot to do here.
In this video, we take you along as we explore everything Longhorn Cavern State Park has to offer including the guided cave tour, hiking trails, historic CCC buildings and more.
We share what makes this cave tour unique (spoiler alert: there are only 2 publicly accessible caves like this in the United States!), how it operates a bit differently from most Texas State Parks, how to get discounts on the tours, and why you should add it to your travel plans.
This park was so much more than we expected. It is a must visit when you are traveling in the Texas Hill Country between the towns of Burnet and Marble Falls.
The cave tour at Longhorn Cavern State Park is one of the best cave tours we have taken.

🤠 Thanks For Watching!
We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.
We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.
In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).
Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.
Safe Travels and Happy Camping!

Thanks for showing us Longhorn Cavern State Park, with its most unusual Cavern, trail system and rock formations. Really enjoyed this one.
Thanks Norman, it was really a fun day! 😊
Love Caves and CCC projects. Thanks for sharing it. Will have to check out the next time we are in the Hill Country.
We love, Love, LOVE Caverns of Sonora!!!
That’s definitely on our list, thanks! 😊
We love exploring all the caverns in and around the the hill country too.
This one is unique though! We had never seen one like it! 😊
@@rvamericayall I agree! Much different than the Natural Bridge caverns near New Braunfels.
I'm 65 years old. My dad worked on the power plant in Marble falls, my mom worked at the Bluebonnet Cafe in marble falls. Anytime we had free time we was going around exploring mostly riding around looking at things! I was between the age of 8 and 10, and we went to the longhorn caverns. Seen the most there in one spot, on the road going to longhorn cavern. My dad guessed there was probably 150 deer, I know that sounds impossible. We had stopped on the side of the road and was watching them, watch them for about 15 minutes. Until another car came, and when they seen them they locked or breaks up. (I had 63 counted before the car was scared them off) It looked like when you see in the movies the with a big cattle herd, big old dust trail! Living in marble falls during that time was one of my most favorite time of my life! Thanks for bringing back memories! Oh if y'all have not try the Bluebonnet Cafe, I still heard they have the best breakfast around that area! Y'all stay safe
Just ate Breakfast @ Bluebonnet Cafe, yesterday. Been awhile, but Great.
@@garyb4929 I live on the coast of Texas. Back then my dad was working I think it was HB Zachary. We lived in Marble falls, Bastrop and Corsicana worked on all three of these power plants! I'm not for sure if I can even remember eating at the Bluebonnet Cafe, but since my mom has passed away! It has fond memories about the place! Thank you for giving me the update about the Bluebonnet Cafe! You have a great day sir!
Thanks for sharing this special moment in your childhood and yes we have been to the Bluebonnet Cafe & it was awesome!
We sure have some neat places in Texas!
💯
Wow! What a great vlog! Another State Park on our bucket list thanks to your video! We really appreciate the video, and details about the cave. The CCC and the administration building……wow the detail! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Thanks for your kind words Sandi! ☺️
We were there last Tuesday! Really enjoyed it! It was packed when we were there.
I’m sure, people flocked to the hill country for the eclipse! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I know why the lichen likes fungi it's because he's a FUN GUY!!! 😊
🤣 yes he is! 😃
A lot of PA state parks have some CCC work done there also. Thanks for showing yours.
You’re welcome Bert, we need to get to some of the PA parks! 😊
I was there, about year & half ago. Great cavern & staff & trail. Well worth your time. I loved the old Observation tower too!. Don't remember my guide name, but she was a wonderful guide.
History of some happening in Caverns were quite interesting.
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it as well! 😊
Thanks for another great video, we visited Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown but had no idea of Longhorn Cavern SP. was near by. We will definitely check it out when we're back in TX this summer. (gotta find places to escape the heat! 🥵)
It will definitely cool you down! 😅
I wouldn't mind having a house built like tnat former ccc office !! Really cool architecture ❤❤❤❤ PS just ordered a Texas state park pass for this year...not a bad price for as many parks & historic sites there are. Thanks for the inspiration ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for your kind words, really motivates us to do more! 😊
I may not always agree with yall, but I sure do appreciate you & your efforts for us all !!
I've been there cool inside in 100 degrees
The temperature stays constant, a nice cool temperature!
thank you fur this tour
You’re welcome ☺️
Politics aside... during the Great Depression, the CCC provided unemployed young men jobs with pay for the work they performed while at the same time conserving and developing natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments.
These people didn't want hand-outs, they wanted to work for their wages, to feel they were doing something important.
Years later, we're still reaping the benefits of their hard work, and by proxy, a successful government program that has proven it's worth.
💯 agree 👍🏻
Cool place
Yes it is!
Sorry I've been out for a few months. Job and health. Trying to stay above ground. But I'm back. Hate the Coogs lost. You guys have fun. 2025 September retirement.
Glad you are getting your health back on track, welcome back! 🙌🏻
I miss your episode introductory that included Star and Astro.
Thanks for the feedback, Mark.
We love parks like this for a picnic and a short hike. Are these trails dog-friendly?
Yes, leashed dogs may hike the trails with their families. Only service dogs are allowed inside the cave or park buildings.
I enjoyed this cavern a few years back. Ready to go back! Y’all do a great job. By the way, I like the music. Who is it? Can we buy the music? Thanks1 for the video. We are about to retire. I would love to take my husband to see this cavern. Inks lake just up the road!
Thanks so much! This music is by subscription only and made for videos and social media platforms!
Hey, you back in Texas 😂
Nope, this was some of the footage we thought we had lost!
I wonder what their reasoning was for not allowing video.
We think it has to do with safety. If you’re filming, you’re looking at your camera or phone constantly as you’re walking. So you could trip or step off the path accidentally.
