Ken, I recently purchased a Mavic 2 zoom and love it. I have searched the internet high and low and have read and watched a lot of Utube videos. Ken, you bring the highest level of enjoyment of ANY drone video I have watched. You are truly funny and obviously drone smart. Please keep up the kentastic work and keep those videos coming. Thank you,
Had a rough day today and I just watched this video and it had me rolling! 😂 Thanks for the pick me up Ken!
Didn’t know hotel rooms came with portable gocarts! Daym that fridge is loud! Great vid by the way👍👍
Hey Ken what kind of Tablet holder is your Friend using for the EVO ?
Johnny converted a Phantom 4 holder to use on the Evo . I use the Parrot Anafi table holder from Amazon . Both work pretty good except the Anafi holder clicks onto the the controller . Works great for the Anafi and I flip mine upside down so there's not so much top end weight on the Evo controller . Hope this helps !
You've become a badass pilot Ken!! Seriously......you got mad skillz my friend!!
Nice to see you out and about meeting some fans !
"Note to viewers....NOT ME DOIN' IT!!!!" I actually laughed out loud on that one! I can feel your anxiety in this video. Love your videos Ken!!!! Next time in Illinois, if ever near Springfield, please send me a message, I'll bring my P4Pv2 and XPhase Pro 360 camera!!!!
Haaa!
I was sweating a bit.
I think I'll be back in the Chicago area in November.
Thanks for the video, Ken. I used to live about 20 minutes from St. Charles, and I also have flown out of DPA (flight lessons).
Stimpy! The shenanigans in the hotel room was my favourite part
You have totally lost it Ken - that was great!
I live in Anderson SC, and the only FRIA in Anderson is at the Anderson Regional Airport. I couldn't believe it when I looked it up on the map. So you don't even need permission from LAANC to fly there. GO FIGURE! Granted, the FRIA area is between runways, but the absolute ridiculous thing is that planes take off from the runways and then fly over the FRIA under 400 feet. And this happens with drones and RC planes in the air. I asked one of the guys that flies RC planes there regularly, and he said, "yeah, those pilots know they are not supposed to fly over the FRIA, but they do anyway. We just try to stay out of thier way." AGAIN, GO FIGURE!
That was one loud Fridge!!! Great video Ken. I have a question though, but I will ask it via Email. Thanks for sharing.
Always watching from Liverpool UK, you always make me chuckle Ken keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Beautiful shots over the river. Smooth mediation with the cop instead of arguing. And no, I wouldn’t have flown by the planes, either. First thing I do is unplug the noisy fridge! You’re lucky if you didn’t hear neighbors or slamming doors lol. Thanks again!
Brilliant video Ken. That river was sure wild! I'd have been shaking lol. With the airport police that's the way to be with folks - polite. Always saying to folks its attitudes and respect. Great footage over the Cessna etc. You definitely had fun in your hotel room ha ha , except for the fridge of course. Awesome, love it Ken. Cheers buddy. If you ever come to the UK near Manchester we'll hang out and fly. Cheers again buddy:)
I know the St. Charles area well I did a comedy guest set at the Laugh Factory in Aurora which is south of St. Charles. My parents grew up in Aurora. Wow they must of had a big rain storm the Fox river looked very high. Great video Ken!
St. Charles is one of the nicest and beautiful cities in Lake County. Far enough away from the Chicago nonsense but close enough to drive there for a day or evening of fun. There’s a great Art Store that we loved and they showcased one of our favorite Artists named Harry Hargrove. We have his painting all over the house and no more room for the ones in our closet. Also have a yearly Hamfest there. Won the 500.00 Grand Prize first year I went. So I bought a new radio, Ham OP’s win always need another radio. LeAn wasn’t happy at all when I came home until I grinned and handed the cash prize to here and said happy Valentine’s Day. I had been saving for 2 months to buy my radio. All ended well, lol. Good video Ken. I always love seeing the things I know back home, makes me miss it a lot sometimes.
Bucket list.....I gotta gave a beer with ya man!!!! Lmao
FYI: as an EVO owner, it's easier to hand land it if you place your hand under it and let the sensors think it's the ground, then it will set down gentle as a dove in the palm of your hand!
Precisely thinking the same .
Especially when the motors whrilled away classic result of Drone thinking its going to crash .
Perhaps Ken isn't familiar with the term palm land **
Lol your WiFi was still faster than my rural DSL.
He he a giggle all the time .great vid Ken as always
Awesome video. have any videos to help a new mavic 2 user to get better cinematography? I tried your pinching method today and it helped a little but still not perfect
Ridge Adkins not only the pinch method but you have to put the upgraded knobs on the controller . Go to amazon and search Bestem Aerial
One of Ken’s videos mentioned these knobs. I have Been watching Ken’s videos for about 2 years. Finally purchased a phantom 4 pro about a year ago. Still flying maybe someday I will finally send Ken a video for grading. Maybe he will find the west coast one day.
17th!! What do I win??????? I hope it's a rainbow. Excellent video, Ken.. As someone who used to live in hotels for work, I got really good at just unplugging everything.
No, the worst part about a hotel room is the early birds who slam doors when they are checking out. :)
Pushing at places like this were it makes sense to avoid is what gets more blanket restrictions and drones a bad name. This video is prolly making the rounds of airports everywhere and some police and even the FAA with a "see what these idiots are doing! We need more rules and regs to prevent this!"
And btw, send the Fridge part of the vid to their corporate hq and get comped for that nasty ho-ho-hotel room....
No lines were crossed. Completely legit flight.
I wouldn't do it just because it would upset airport personnel, but it was a legal flight. 👍
The fridge on the other hand...
Lmao good job makin me think the drone sounded like that car, I was like wtf lmao no way that's badass
Omg that’s next to my house. Wish I knew you were in town :)
Damn Ken. You make my days brighter. The hotel bit had me rolling. Come visit me in Raleigh, NC. Let's fly some drones.
I will be flying at an airfest this weekend should see some shots I got last year
That damn refrigerator was ‘droning’ on and on...... nice shoutout to Anita Ward Ken 💍 my 🔔
That's awesome! That building across the way, Hotel Baker, is where my wife and I got married! Beautiful place!
Ohh geeze I can't sleep with a loud frigid like that that's horrible lol
New drone pilot here. Trust certified as a recreational pilot/ Out in the middle of some very rough terrain and get a alert a plane is coming. I could not fly out of its path and only 200 feet at the time in a valley. I just dropped down to about 10 feet off the cliff side as the terrain was not level to land. I also could not see the drone and had to trust the sensors and camera. I do appreciate the notice but did not see any mention of landing to give way. Good to know.
FD!!! Nice ken. Hope you get some noticeable gains from the rx8 after the tune.
Wow , you were in my hood. Wish I would have known. Had some great drone stuff going on the last few days. Freestyle comp on Sunday, and whoop races on Monday..
Great video Ken, thanks for sharing. Orange you glad you didn't turn green when the coppers showed up????
DANGER DAM! lol New shirt idea?
So did part 107 loosen the refs for flight around manned aircraft as we no longer have to land immediately per 107.37)a$ & (b).
I understand this vid is 3 years old so I’m wondering as I prep for my 107.
Silence speaks complicity
How do you feel about the state parks that charge a fee for someone to fly a drone in the park? $15 for five days at some of them.
BS.
You can fly at a state park for free. Just don't launch or land from the park and you're good.
@@KenHeron I suppose that is true. Just keep line of site. I was surprised looking at the entrance fee for the area $15 for a vehicle and then $15 for a drone. stateparks.utah.gov/parks/sand-hollow/park-fees/
I used to be from Northern Illinois. Oklahoma now. See you Saturday!
Had a hotel room once on the first floor. Laying in bed heard what I thought was a motorcycle running outside my window. Ignored it for a while then I starting think WTF is this guy idling his loud motorcycle so long. Looked out the window to see a garden and realized it was my airconditioner running. That was a restful night...
My drone at my house tells me I can fly just so high at my house because I am in the flight path of most planes landing in Bakersfield, CA. How ever if I move further down the block it warns me with a different warnning nd asks me to accept full respnsibilty.
I’m not sure what to say😉. How about bless your heart? Anyway that was a fun video to watch.😁😁
There was no going under that bridge, was there? OMG Tempting fate there for sure.
Ken, I' m glad to see you got to do more flying when you were here than I thought, weather just did not want us to fly.. Great video...was lots of fun...
As for those who question the flying by a "small private air port,"Here are the Facts..
the manager was asked and he also got (LAANC AUTHORIZATION) the gentleman who questioned us did not get that information to them, after they were informed of this they left us alone,, and in air map There was no restrictions. We checked many times.
If there had been "no authorization",
this would have never happened as we and George are professional licensed Pilots.
@Drone Flyer 400
Hello,
Just to clear this up, I did not nor did Ken fly our drones there as we did not, or tried to get the authorization at that location that the other gentleman did.
He contact the person in charge of that airfield and then verified on Air map and others that it would be okay.
From there it allowed him to summit a request to LAANC and it was approved.
There was no real plan to fly there, just wanted to see if it would allow it, even DJI Go allowed it.
He never went anywhere near the air strip as he was asked not to nor would he. He only went by the parked planes near their shelter and then right back and landed.
This is being made worse then it was.
I wish that I could answer or understand why this was able to happen , but we just wanted to show it that it is possible with the correct authorizations.
@@christopherw568 Thanks Chris. Before you showed up we called the airport manager and the tower controlling the airfield in Dupage. Dupage answered and the only thing they said was that one flight was leaving and we waited for it to go by prior to flying. 1800wxbrief.com does not show any approvals needed other than the calls we did. Wish people would realize that the videos are edited and the timeframes are not what they seem. Oh well it was great to meet Ken and all of you there. We should find some other areas to fly now that the trees are turning colors.
Hey Ken we were coming home from Florida fall break last Friday and there was so many wrecks on 65 and 40 west that google map re routed us thru Camden and Paris, when I saw the sign that said Huntington I thought of you 👍
Hotel bit at the end was great 👍!
Ken "The Rogue" Heron at it again! 👍😎🇺🇸
Hi Ken.
I guess you need to get Danna back to right the jokes!
Be-bop ba loo la, she's my baby!
Love the double rainbow, I remember that viral clip 😀
During my first time in an extended stay I checked the cupboard for a pan to cook with. I ended up finding a shopping bag containing adult toys....
That looks fun but a little bit scary.
So funny, there’s no way I would fly near an airport like that. I recently flew over a castle where a popular TV show is going to be filmed, flew for approximately 10 minutes, landed, putting away in the boot and 2 bodyguards zoomed up in their BMW & told me to delete the footage, I thought I did, but hadn’t! I will respect their privacy and keep it to myself, keep up the good work Ken, 🤘
Nobody, including police, can make you delete footage.
You can use it as you see fit. 👍
You were lucky to run into Johnny. He articulated himself well, was a fan and complimentary. Plus he had a new Autel. I'm sure he also had a cool vehicle being performance tuned at the same shop. Nice guy. I thought it was funny how he and I have the same stance when flying drones. I have a photo of myself flying my drone and I have the same sideways leaning stance that he did. I don't know why I do it and am not even cognizant of it...weird. 😂
"I dont want to go to prison I cant play the harmonica"😂😂 ps the best feeling in the world is being kissed on the forehead while you are sleeping.......unless you are in prison😂😂😂 pps...I think that was a screen shot of my internet in South Africa.☹another great video Ken.
Mick Clarke I worked in a prison n they do more than kiss u while sleeping 😂
Ken.... I work in the building right behind you. Been watching for awhile, so a bit starstruck coming across this video. Will you be coming back to St. Charles?... would love to buy you a beer.
Classic Ken! Good stuff...
OMG, was that Schaumburg?! Tell me you got some chicken fingers from Pilot Pete's/Village Tavern while you were there!
The fridge it self is your white noise lol
@Ken Heron: Do you know why your fridge hums?
Because it doesn't know the words!
I couldn't stop laughing when you said this is like Australian internet I live in Australia and the internet really sucks🤣
Hahaha l am glad l found your channel. You surely keep me entertained and l always learn something, thanks 😊😊
I recently had my drones out in the desert. Kinda close to some powerlines. And the drones were stuck in a 100foot box. And my GPS spyhawk fixed wing wouldn't even get more than 20 feet off the ground. Weird stuff... All of them were different companies DJI ,Parrot and Hubsan.
@@gmivisualsjason3729 There was two pick up trucks parked watching us for a couple hours. Few hundred yards away. Pretty, strange. They never left their trucks. Phantom also randomly went into ati mode when landing in high wind. Got some sand in the motor too. Fixed it though...
FYI probably not secret tech. They have jammers that make drones lose control or RTH. And jammers that prevent drones from flying into certain areas. The latter is probably preferred in less its very serious.
There's a fine line between comedic genius and insanity. I think Ken plays jump rope with that line.
That suite was sweet! Haha
Hey is you're refrigerator running? Better go catch . . . . Uhhh, unplug it
Yay..... another great Ken video. Just made my day!!!!
Is Ken Herron "pinching"?! He's committing one of the top 5 rookie mistakes that he mentioned himself!!!
Hi Ken ! My name is John from California. We are going to the Philippines next month and I'm bringing my Phantom 3 standard. Am I going to have issues in wi-fi or signal flying overseas? Pls. Let me know. Thanks!
Wifi is pretty much the same everywhere, but there might be more signals in certain areas.
Make sure to calibrate your compass and IMU after you get where you're going.
Ken, one more topic of conversation as I'm thinking to myself. I know your getting into FPV (as I'm looking into as well). With FAA Registrations currently being; "If it weighs more than 0.55 lbs. (250 grams) and less than 55 lbs. (25 kg), it must be registered. With FPV a person can literally be swapping out parts all the time; frames, props, etc. I don't run in FPV circles but wondering how that's being handled. It's not like a Mavic 2 or Inspire....swapping out parts means labels and registration numbers could e all over the place with an FPV enthusiast. Most FPV drones have a take-off weight of 250grams or more by the time you put the batteries and cameras on them......yeah, another can of worms I'm opening I'm sure.
But why Mr. Perfect hair?
Ken,
I've got shares in that hotel group:) LOL that was very funny
4:26, airplane flys by...
7:50 - Proof that "legal" and "good idea" aren't interchangeable terms ...
little "shart" of the week "evo ventually" you will stop rotor banging ? i lied would love to pull your car sideways lol
Can't remember the last time I jumped on a bed!!!
Bummer.... I see you were in St.Charles Oct 14th.... would have loved to meet you... seem like a fun guy to hang with!
Hey a Parrot Bebop 2, that’s a good parrot drone.
I'm very close to stcharles too 👍😎 great video Ken!!!
Damn those fly aways always look great. My friend bought an Autel they are cool looking. You have to not fly there, too close, too risky. I cant blame the security requesting landing. He cant be sure you might do something foolish. I am sure you guys were not going to. But you have to be on safe side. Just too close.
It WAS a double rainbow until Chicago taxation took half of it away.
Somebody got a GoPro hero 7
That's kinda cool....I ate in that restaurant once, walked across that bridge and took a leak by the police station....cool.
St Charles! I was born there!
If you have a part 107, and have LANCC permission or you are in class g airspace at an uncontrolled airport then there is no issue if your flying and not interfering with the air traffic. I would be aware of all the airport procedures and know where the traffic patters are.
Absolutley!
I'm glad you recognized that fact. 🤓👍
@@KenHeron photography is Nifty like that, oh wow 10 rainbows let me get my camera!.... and they are gone.🤣🤣
Exactly right. Get your part 107 and know the rules. Knowing is the best defense. I am also an Instrument pilot and i assure you the regs are there to keep us all safe. Are they perfect? Of course not but you have to start somewhere.
