      In France we have drinking water everywhere and we can swim in the Seine now. No need to have A/C in the north ( or only 1 wee or 2 per year now) but only in the south with global warming !

      The rain is the problem, too much water to clean up at the same time.

      It's normal in France, nobody has air conditioning. We use fans when necessary in the summer.

    The absence of air conditioning has nothing to do with environmental concerns. Air conditioning in summer is a primary need for these busy athletes. It's a pathetic cost cutting measure

    When I went to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, the Olympic Village was converted into the Ray Brooks Regional Correctional Facility (Jail). We had stainless steel beds, a Stainless steal sink and a Stainless Steal toilet in each room. After the games they removed all the doors and replaced them with the Prison Bars. All the windows though had bars. It was how a tiny Village in New York could afford to host the games.

      I'm French, I swear it isn't like New Caledonia! 45k cops will be in Paris during the Olympics. For the security, there will be drones and many other things. Ofc in all Europe there is a risk of terrorism but don't worry, France worked a lot for the security

      Shina is actually the original pronunciation. English pronunciation is the bastardised version. Same with Chinghis Khan. Genghis Khan is a bastardised pronunciation. Many countries pronounce China as Shina, the original and correct pronunciation.

    It’s a burden to host the Olympics. Have to build an Olympic village, house about 7000 athletes, build Olympic size pool and stadium, etc. It bankrupts the hosting city/ country, not to mention the tourists who trash the city.

    The scale of the Olympics doesn't make economic, environmental, and logistical sense for any city. I honestly believe it's better for sports to just have their own world championship event rather than combine everything into this monstrosity of a mess

      Actually I like the idea of having Olympics. But I think they should be organized in the same city every year (in a city in Greece for example). One country could be in charge of the ceremonies and the design but the facilities could always be the same.

    AC is actually a very new/modern invention. Humans have only widely started using AC since the 1950s. We survived before the 1950s without AC, athletes will be able to survive without AC today. They are mentally strong

      Athletes can swim up to 15 hours a day, run for hours and hours and rest anywhere, I don't think no air conditioning or a cardboard bed will bother them, they're not mental health patients who have tranny thoughts. We've lived without air conditioning for tens of thousands of years. In fact people have only started to use air conditioning since the 1950s.

      Unless you have very large bay Windows, you don't need A/C in Paris. It is same latitude as Newfoundland, except that winters are warmer and summers colder due to domineering west wind carrying air and its clouds from the Atlantic ocean. Are you American? You don't enjoy a solid reputation for knowing geography. Including political leaders who however claim to rule the world. By the way, did you find the massive destruction weapons in Irak?

      Paris has a higher latitude than the city of Montréal in Québec / Canada. The jet stream above the atlantic refresh north of france in summer. it 's not like continental weather in usa , americans need A/C but not western europe in summer or 1 or 2 weeks per year now with global warming.
