- Sugihara's List (2014): The remarkable story of Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara has long been overshadowed by other heroes of WW2. Now, a new play is finally set to memorialise his rescue of 6,000 Polish and Lithuanian Jews.

"Sugihara was an incredible person. He probably never saw a Jew before in his life and he saved so many families". 91 year old holocaust survivor Lilly Singer was one of the thousands who would not be alive today without the intervention of Sugihara. She's in the audience of a new play dramatizing his actions which saved thousands of lives. As the Nazi tanks rolled eastwards, Polish Jews began flooding into Lithuania - their only route of escape onward through Russia. Brian Liau is playing the part of Sugihara. "He asked the Japanese foreign office 3 times for permission to issue visas." Despite being refused, Sugihara went on to issue over 6,000 visas for families trying to cross the border. Largely forgotten, for Lilly Singer he remains the hero of the conflict. "He saved me and that was the end of that".

Wow I never heard of Mr Chiune Sugihara. He is gone now.God bless his family.
Thats the point. Never meant to hear about him. This is how western narrative works.
A true man of honor
True Hero
Thank you for telling us about this great man!
Sad to see how he was repaid for saving all those people.
Wow, beautiful loyal caring gentleman; This wonder Japanese man checks all the boxes in the humanity trifecta -- I'm humbled by his sacrifice.😢😑
Rest in peace to a brave man. Sugihara the hero you never heard about.💐💖
Beautiful heart this man had!
General Kiichiro Higuchi should be remembered as well for saving Jews before Sugihara did.
Please tell us about this!
Bless his heart
Survivors should never have to regret their actions or lack of them. Lily and her family were busy surviving and finding a place to settle where they could be safe and could call it home. She shouldn't have to feel regret.
there is an Indian Schindler who saved 1000 Polish Kids...
Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja who was Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanagar. He is remembered in Poland. There is a highschool of His name and "good maharaja square" with His monument in Warsaw.

Wonderful! I'm so glad I found this video. Excellent job.
Good people deserve heaven!
The picture at the 4:10 is the same picture in another video you did on the other Schindler as you called him. A diplomat form Holland.
I remember trying to make friends (who were Jewish) in L.A. years ago in college. “You’re not one of the chosen ones” I was told.
Heroe
On December 6, 1938, the Japanese government decided at a meeting of the five ministries (the Supreme Council of the Japanese Government) to formulate guidelines for dealing with Jews and to treat them fairly.
There were two waves of Jewish refugee immigration to Shanghai, the first in 1938-39 and the second in 1940.
Overseas, only the second round, Sugihara, is mentioned, and the lie is spread that the Japanese government opposed him.
What if Chiune Sugihara and John Rabe met each other
Schindler was the German Sugihara.
At 2:43 they show a map in which a young girl traveled during that time but the map is a post-war modern map of Poland, Lithuania and Europe in general. It's a sloppy mistake. When they go over the modem day Kaliningrad Oblast that now lies between Poland and Lithuania they just leave the name of it blank on the map, not explaining what it was. They really needed to use a pre-1939 map to show accurately where she traveled.
This is such an extraordinary story why the flip is there not a movie on it?
There is a movie
As a Korean, I don't really like the annexation of our country by Japan but however, Mr. Sugihara deserves respect for saving god's chosen people. We need more people like him in this world and thank the Lord he found God's grace.
His father could be attributed to such an atrocity, but as they say, sins of the father and such. On that note, it goes to show no matter who you are, as an individual, you can always do good. No matter what.
Amen God Bless Chiune Sugihara's Family In Jesus Name Amen
Everybody talking about, germans, japanese, chinese, muslims etc who helped jews escape, however we shouldnt categorize them by their nationality, religion or race ,they were just ordinary human beings with great morals and bravery that knew they neded to do the right thing.
