I don’t really get how this is uncaged. Sounds a lot more like an instinct release to me; it’s quite melodic.
Before the split, monstercat had an amazing blend of melody and over the top music combined. Like this one, storm and others from just Notaker. There are many more options, just go through the playlists.
Nowadays uncaged is just trap or trance. nothing exciting just mainstream EDM :(
Matchbox Yeah i know, i’ve been around for a while too. I still think it’s weird that they split cuz now basically everything on Instinct gets way less views and attention (which makes me sad cuz I generally like Instinct songs more than Uncaged). And yeah, I also agree with you that the songs generally aren’t as interesting anymore. But I just felt like the way they’ve been sorting them, this one sounds more like something they’d put on Instinct cuz it’s melodic through the entire song except for those breaks in the first drop (which sound really cool btw).
Honestly splitting the channel splits the fan base.

Sorry what? Uncaged doesn't even have Trap and Trance, or rather Psytrance, like 90% of the time. I say it's the more heavyweights and the few moments of Inspector Dubplate and sometimes UKF Drum and Bass/Dubstep releases.
@Lafv at least Magic and Afraid Of The Dark make sense, despite being blended as one. I dunno why they thought its Uncaged. Maybe it's GQ again.
While it's not the past, its array of genres from many labels are apples and oranges for people of multiple preference, making it not only interesting but also more prominent because of the 4 days released per label, being an advantage. With the community exposed to certain acts that are currently present, I think it's growing up stronger, I'll be it, slowly, that we have an Multicultural of people that are here on Monstercat for different reasons.
I could literally just listen to the first five seconds of this on repeat. That intro is SO good.
The art goes so well with the song. Not quite retrowave, but close enough that the song evokes an 80’s nostalgia despite having never experienced the 80’s.

So in 2018 they split into two sublabels, uncaged was for more bass music and heavy tracks, while instinct was for more vocal driven tracks
