- Soldiers from Queen's Division, one of the newly reorganised Infantry Divisions of the British Army, are working together for the first time on exercise in Otterburn, Northumberland.
The infantry has been reorganised from five divisions down to four and the traditional grouping of battalions based on geography has been changed to make sure each division contains a range of skills.

Sounds like flakey cost cutting spin to me
“It may look like the infantry is getting smaller” I’m waiting for the “but it isn’t” that isn’t going to come
This all looks great but can we just concentrate on making some ammo first 👍
🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺💪💪💪💪
exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🏆
Unfortunately a division is not what it used to be it’s all political spin we need more personnel and equipment and senior officers willing to say so .
It’s like the Soviet “ divisions “ in WW2. They were 40% of western allies complement. Or their Armies that were Corps strength . It’s all spin.

Politicians… What do Donkeys know about tooth paste and chewing gum.
Every single UK defence review since WWII has been a cost cutting exercise.

Mate British army has always been small but quality force. We need to invest mostly in the Royal Navy
Where does the money come from?
Thanks for your service to all our lads and lasses.
🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm not alone among serving / ex-servicemen who hate this 'thank you for your service' craze. I/we didn't do it for you!! We did it for ourselves. It was a job.
Love the way they always try and glamorise new structures or ways of operating to try and compensate for the drop in manpower. It's as if you must think we're all blind.
You simply cannot fight a large scale war with an army that should have stopped shrinking 20 years ago. This just keeps getting worse and worse every year.
As sad as it is to see most nations struggling to grow and maintain bigger military organizations, truth is, everything is becoming more expansive; including the cost of a soldier/officer. Not just because of the flexibility required to face the complex environment today, but because these jobs have to be competitive to the civilian market so that people want to be recruited and want to stay. So pay and benefits have to go up.
Another key factor is to not compare today to WW2. A lot of people tend to do that; especially the media. They say X military isn't what it used to be decades ago. But there was a Cold War, there was a WW2 and a WW1 back then. Everything was cheaper, more accessible, simpler and politics were much different. And so was the view of the purpose of a military and of course the need for a strong military. When a war the scale of a World War breaks out, of course you can expect massive amounts of divisions. Today, it's much harder.
I'd much rather an organized military with flexible Divisions with higher readiness state due to less manning issues than more Divisions that the military struggles to man and therefore isn't able to fully operate when it will need it.
In my day it was the Queens, Royal Anglian's and RRF.
What about Wessex what about in Northumbria what about East Anglia what about the seven kingdoms?
All hot air and meaningless when the army is shrinking. Absolute joke.
"The British Army doesnt need to be big because our soldiers are highly trained with the world beating technology."
Yeah but they cant shoot in 360 degrees when they inevitably get outflanked and encircled because the frontline is spread way too thin.
These will rise to the challenge of our times!!! God bless.
The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was always part of the Queen's Division.

The battalions of the Ranger regiment fall under different divisions?
On paper they do 📝 to create fake numbers.
Operationally they’re completely separate.
I don't understand cuts when things are the way they are in the world today
A force smaller than Sir John French 's BEF .

It is a great shame that the governments in the UK have made the decision to destroy historical infantry regiments. These regiments have played a crucial role in the history of the country, and have often been associated with certain regions or communities, forming an important part of their identity and heritage.
The decision to disband these regiments is not only a loss of historical significance, but also a loss of tradition, culture and community cohesion. The men and women who served in these regiments have sacrificed so much for their country and have formed strong bonds with their comrades in arms.
It is important to acknowledge and honor the sacrifices and contributions made by these regiments throughout history, and to preserve their legacy for future generations. The loss of these regiments is a reminder of the need to value and protect our cultural heritage, and to recognize the importance of tradition and identity in building strong communities.
at the end of the day the warriors of our nation are all that promise safety
May be small but absolutely the best there is, could do with a few more tho thanks
@R most well trained soldiers in the world in modern day, and we won against the Argentinians so it does count, AND our failure in Europe at the beginning was due to having to deal with an entirely new brand of warfare NOBODY had dealt with before, think whatever you will, but our soldiers right now are the best trained, if we had our empires numbers, we’d be at the very top in all capacities.
@@user-lm3fi2ee4xthey beat the Japanese and Germans last time I checked lol?
@R They did lose most of the early battles against both but won the later ones. That means victories overall. And Japan and Germany weren't slouches at all. Both were as capable as any military in the 20th century.
So where are the queens royal west surrey there ??

What’s the divisions strength 25%?
The army has got smaller less IFV's, less SPG's less tanks, less helicopters and less everything else ! ! ! £3 Billion plus Pounds of honest UK taxpayers money for Ukraine and less money for the UK's own forces. Thank you.
When there is a group of differently enabled people who are able to work together that enhances the range and power of the group.
They need core skills. If they don't have those, it's lethally bad.
We keep losing battalions, let's try less Politicians instead.
They have a very.....flamboyant attitude towards some of their headgear. ..😏
Are you talking about the berets or camouflage on the helmets?
What you mean Berty?

@@comicsshed5381 the feather head beret im sure
Now I know the UK right now is in quite a hard spot due to it's economic situation, but hopefully when and if this economic crisis is over we can restructure the armed forces as a whole. We need more ships, much bigger ground force numbers, WAY more aircraft, and the infrastructure to support it. It's just the basic idea of what we need, I can tell you we will never hit any of these on the list with 3% of our GDP. If you have any questions please ask I am open to a friendly debate.
Unfortunately there's no debate to be had friendly or otherwise, the damn military is simply too small thanks to decades of constant government penny-pinching, and everyone knows what we need to change that but it doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon, even WITH the threat from Russia and China and the whole Ukraine thing, that 5 billion Sunak's promised is a drop in the ocean
@@1IbramGaunt Pure fact, even with 5 billion it's just a small fraction of what we really need.
Nice spin.
Whats the point of rangers ? When we have light infantry , parachute regiment , ghurkas , guards and every other regiment . Though we probably had a rangers somewhere in our UK history
Light infantry battalions went years ago mate, use to have Royal Irish Ranger battalion too.
The Mercians, are an East and West Midlands Regiment, with a little bit of Cheshire thrown in for good measure too, Woofers will be Woofers, even if 2nd Bn has been disbanded too!
Sounds very PR
The two guys at the beginning of the vid ARE the new division , that’s how many soldiers we’ll be left with soon under constant Tory cuts .
Soldiers …don’t really care about cap badges …..of corse they do …just ask the guards
I think a division used to help towards having a healthy rivalry between counties. Now you can't say boo without getting a ghost scared so it's completely pointless. You might as well have one unit throughout that is called "chicken nugget" and hope for the best
I truly believe that in the past that's what held the UK together was banter between each region but now you don't even know who you are dealing with. it's amazing how Napoleon struggled to take us on with one of the best navies in the world but some plums in rubber dinghy's have already taken over the UK 😂
Words words words…

Queen's division - thought she died ....?!
Fewer soldiers means fewer soldiers. They are not 'more agile'.
LOL - complete spin
Sad to see this down scaling at a time of such uncertainty . All our frontline services comming up light to the required needs and ability to fulfil a role in times of greatest risk. If it continues all are armed services need to be consolidated into one military command and do away with the top rather than the bottom , which seems so understaffed.
So that Lieutenant General Chalmers said "we are all English" but then what was that Welsh one?
We need to upgrade all this stuff. We should have around 250,000 troops on duty all the time , 5 or 6 aircraft carriers , over 500 f35s and a huge fleet to accompany them. This is the UK , not Madagascar! Embarrassing what politics have done to our defence forces in the past 20 years .
No at least 700k troops of nco and officer reserve and active duty in combine
British Army 2045 : " Our single division may only have 25 They/Thems but , we can assure you , that they/Them are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of readiness despite our shameful colonial past.
Isn’t the British army too small for the job anyway?
Did he say "we are all English"? Was that stock footage or did he really say that in the context of restructuring removing the regions divide?
Yes he did, good for him saying that.
He's definitely incorrect. There are plenty of jocks, boyos and micks in there.
And a ranger battalion, because every formation needs a gimp that everyone can take the p*** out of.
I think it's sensible to add a different regional flavour to a Division. In both World Wars they discovered that doing so was actually beneficial.
4:51 Is the General wearing a US Army Ranger tab?
You can take a lot of courses in the US Military and NATO attached, exchange and higher ranking officers from the UK are able to take them.
Yes he earned his Ranger tab and was also commissioned from the ranks.
Yes he did a intense 4 week cadet leading course
There are British rangers now if you payed attention

Why have the British forces still have the same problem of NCO's and officer's not coming through on experience up the ranks as a profession. Academics have there place but it is no substitute for experience. And more to the point what's being done about it.
Lost a Div. But definitely not smaller...
All about defence cuts. Great shame.
So are the soldiers going to get paid more?
Coz they know Scotlands exit is coming
Let’s cut the numbers and justify it with a load of waffle. Disgraceful how small the infantry has become.
Only way you beat uk armed forces shortage is bring back national service all 18 year olds must serve till 20 it we’ll also help better standards of civilian life in uk
What happened to any Mascots? Hope they are well cared for if retired.
The Ukraine war has shown that even a modern army gets chewed up, the British Army would be combat ineffective within three months of high intensity fighting. 🤔
I don't disagree with the need for a larger army but you won't get one until govt cuts spending elsewhere and that's politically impossible
The Army's decline is unlikely to change as NATO already has an entire continent's worth of armies between us and Russia. That funding is going to the Royal Navy which is only just starting to reverse its decades long decline in hull numbers.
Our army is in this state because of the government
But like Paddy pimblett says sunak's a multimillionaire and his birds a billionaire. Couldn't they give some money to our forces ,

It’s a terrible idea and the officer is just trying to put lipstick on a pig. It would be career ending if he voiced his real opinion.
Re-organization in the UK, means CUTS, Shameful
Load of toilet basically saying for generations we in Army never knew what we were doing MOD will make up any config to pretend cuts don’t matter. Insult to lads and units they binned
Sadly the young faces in Battalions are quickly getting used to the annual cuts and the political decisions that are being made to suit a budget more than having a ready fighting sized Army. Regimental identity is disappearing because of the wide scale shrink so the young faces of today won’t know much difference.
A Divisional training team is just so unnecessary and seems like a role for a roles sake. Again another tooth removed from individual unit identities as you can now have different cap badges training and selecting each other for promotion courses. At least in the old days when it was all done in battalion you wore the cap badge with pride and took that pride everywhere you went.
Love the propaganda 😂. 5 Div down to 4 but play up the spin an pretend it’s not cuts its “reorganisation 😂
