  • Soldiers from Queen's Division, one of the newly reorganised Infantry Divisions of the British Army, are working together for the first time on exercise in Otterburn, Northumberland.
The infantry has been reorganised from five divisions down to four and the traditional grouping of battalions based on geography has been changed to make sure each division contains a range of skills.

  • @KallegrandStudios

As sad as it is to see most nations struggling to grow and maintain bigger military organizations, truth is, everything is becoming more expansive; including the cost of a soldier/officer. Not just because of the flexibility required to face the complex environment today, but because these jobs have to be competitive to the civilian market so that people want to be recruited and want to stay. So pay and benefits have to go up.
Another key factor is to not compare today to WW2. A lot of people tend to do that; especially the media. They say X military isn't what it used to be decades ago. But there was a Cold War, there was a WW2 and a WW1 back then. Everything was cheaper, more accessible, simpler and politics were much different. And so was the view of the purpose of a military and of course the need for a strong military. When a war the scale of a World War breaks out, of course you can expect massive amounts of divisions. Today, it's much harder.
I'd much rather an organized military with flexible Divisions with higher readiness state due to less manning issues than more Divisions that the military struggles to man and therefore isn't able to fully operate when it will need it.

It is a great shame that the governments in the UK have made the decision to destroy historical infantry regiments. These regiments have played a crucial role in the history of the country, and have often been associated with certain regions or communities, forming an important part of their identity and heritage.
The decision to disband these regiments is not only a loss of historical significance, but also a loss of tradition, culture and community cohesion. The men and women who served in these regiments have sacrificed so much for their country and have formed strong bonds with their comrades in arms.
It is important to acknowledge and honor the sacrifices and contributions made by these regiments throughout history, and to preserve their legacy for future generations. The loss of these regiments is a reminder of the need to value and protect our cultural heritage, and to recognize the importance of tradition and identity in building strong communities.

We need more ships, much bigger ground force numbers, WAY more aircraft, and the infrastructure to support it. Load of toilet basically saying for generations we in Army never knew what we were doing MOD will make up any config to pretend cuts don’t matter. Insult to lads and units they binned

Sadly the young faces in Battalions are quickly getting used to the annual cuts and the political decisions that are being made to suit a budget more than having a ready fighting sized Army. Regimental identity is disappearing because of the wide scale shrink so the young faces of today won’t know much difference.
A Divisional training team is just so unnecessary and seems like a role for a roles sake. Again another tooth removed from individual unit identities as you can now have different cap badges training and selecting each other for promotion courses. At least in the old days when it was all done in battalion you wore the cap badge with pride and took that pride everywhere you went.

Well, there are currently 100 000+ fighting aged males with marine beach landing experience hanging around 4* hotels with nothing to do that need a job..so time to put that £7 million a day investment in "Labour" to work to earn a passport...off to see Ivan and his hordes you go..you make it back, you get a passport and a council house, if you`re really lucky (or unlucky, depending on your outlook on life) you`ll get a lovely overweight gobby white woman with 3 kids from 3 different baby daddy`s to help you assimilate into British life and culture...

This is all irrelevant. Stop playing toy soldiers and build up your forces. I doubt you could even field a full proper division.

More cost cut it's a disgrace. These super regiment all on big fail we where once the magnificent 7 in the Scottish division. Now we have 3 regiments in that royal regiment of Scotland.
