Joseph barbera
1911-2006
I remember Yogi's Treasure Hunt back in the 90's when I was a kid and I love this show. I really wished that the series is final release on complete DVD at last like the other Hanna Berbera series like Wacky Races, The Peril of Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastary and Muttley in their Flying Machine. Because they have lots of old Yogi's Treasure Hunt video and I think the series deserve to on DVD at last.
William Hanna
1910-2001
I think you forgot to mention that Limited animation became progressively better thanks to HB's dedication to quality. They were always going out of their way to improve animation. They are the one who made TV animation possible. Even Disney used limited animation for its tv series (starting with the gummie bear) Limited animation does not equals crappy animation. The simpsons also use a hybrid of limited animation. I believe you are French... Well, the Asterix and Lucky Luke movies all used limited animation with more frames. Limited animation means that body parts are animated individually, so you can save on cels by reussing them! As for using less frame of animations, it is a standard for TV. Traditional animation has 18 to 24 frames, while limited animation for TV generally has fewer than 15 (around 12) Bottom line, Animation owes a lot to HB IMO.
Mario Garon And The Limited Animation Process was Originally a Artistic Choice to Stray away from Disney’s Realistic Path
One thing he also forgot to mention is that limited animation was used by UPA (for some style reasons and also non realism movement) way before hanna-barbera
"...it became the longest running animated series ever made....until the Simpsons"
Fun fact: The Smurfs lasted LONGER than The Flintstones!!!
+Cassandra Saldana Unless you count the flintstones' spin off! But yeah if you are talking about the main show.
+MonkeeJuice yeah
Cassandra Saldana Simpsons isn't even the longest-running animated show. The honor goes to Schoolhouse Rock, an educational kids cartoon that aired in 1973 and ended in 2009.
khaledking1019k2 That doesn't count because it only got a Season in 2009. It didn't have any new Episodes for 1 decade.
khaledking1019k2 no aren't you forgetting Seasame Street
I know what I am watching tonight. I grew up with Hanna Barbara cartoons. Sure I didn't see the original airing of there cartoons but they were in syndication when I was growing up in the 90s. My favorite cartoon from them is Scooby-Doo and The Jetsons and Yogi Bear and of course The Flintstones who doesn't like them they're one of Hanna Barbara's most popular cartoon show ever. So I really think very highly of them being I grew up with the cartoons they made.
I don't like they're shows except for Tom and Jerry and Scooby doo.
One thing I like about their limited animation trademark are looping backgrounds used in driving scenes and chase scenes in which characters end up going past the same rocks, trees, buildings, etc. repeatedly. I used to laugh hysterically at those scenes. I was like, "You're going nowhere, goddammit!"

I know Fred and Willma had like 20 couches
the trade mark animation technique is a bit like the theatre style of Berthold Brecht who used very little staging, props and costume. It was used to focus more on the storyline and made the audience think more than just sitting there and watch the play. This came to me as a realisation ages ago
I have only ever been a fan of cartoons from the late 50s and early 60s.
This is a list of the cartoons I have most childhood love for:
Huckleberry Hound
Pixie & Dixie and Mr Jinks
Yogi Bear
Quick Draw McGraw
Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy
Loopy De Loop
Snagglepuss
Top Cat
Touché Turtle and Dum-Dum
Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har-Har
Peter Potamus and So-So
Breezly and Sneezly
Yippee, Yappee & Yahooey
The Hillbilly Bears
Winsome Witch
Laurel and Hardy
Dastardly & Muttley in their Flying Machines
Didn't care much for what came between or after these ones. There might be the odd one, but these 17 cartoon shows were the ones I remember most as a kid.
Same I got it all from boomerang 2000-2015 the worst year for boomerang ever..
+Marcus Ingram I just got boomerang from dish and they don't show the good old cartoons no more only at late at night it's just like cartoon network I hope they change it next year.
Marcus Ingram hi
Nice to know there's another Lippy fan out there. :)
soon to be 27.
Tom and Jerry is what started it all
Speaking of which, I just watched Hanna and Barbera's last Tom and Jerry short "Robin Hoodwinked" before the MGM cartoon studio shut down because of what AniMat mentioned when theatrical cartoons were losing ground to the increasing prevalence of television units in the 50s, and the line, "What are we stopping for, Jerry?" from Jerry's sidekick in that short could be an obvious indicator, as it was even pointed out in some trivia on the "Toon Heads" block Cartoon Network used to have.
Cool.
The 1930's "Van Beuren" version didn't last very long as the show wasn't that big of hit unlike Betty Boop, Popeye, & the Looney Tunes.
So what I think what may had happen was that they sold the name to MGM & the names for these 2 characters were changed to Dick & Larry While the Cat & Mouse were originally called "Jasper & Jynx" but then changed to Tom & Jerry.
Mickey Mouse is better than Tom and Jerry
@@emcvideoproductions500 Mickey Mouse is better
coincidentally, an add for fruity pebbles played before this
I remembered watching some of Hanna Berbera series like Wacky Races,The Peril of Penwelope Pitstop, Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines, Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017. I do wished that Hanna Berbera have finally release Fender Bender 500, Yogi's Treasure Hunt and Wacky Race reboot 2017 in complete DVD collection at last.

Joe and William are animated legends that will be remembered by future generations for their classic characters like tom and jerry for example.
i wish tom and jerry was as violent as the orignals were. todays versions are just not the same :(
Mew Gaming02 ikr
Typical feminazi vegan, let me guess, virgin too?
They have that its called happy tree friends
JOZIAH URIBE
Nothing wrong with being a virgin
Mickey Mouse is better than Tom and Jerry
Quick fact check.
When Puss Gets the Boot was a hit, in spite of it Fred Quimby specifically told Bill and Joe NOT to make more Tom and Jerry, getting them to make other cartoons instead.
It wasnt until a woman in Texas, who owned a significantly large number of cinema chains wrote to MGM asking for more Tom and Jerry cartoons (the cat and mouse as she called them), that Quimby decided to make it a series.
Tom and Jerry: Masters of Slapstick
The longest-running animated series is actually Sazae-san, a slice of life series that's been on air in Japan since 1969.
Honestly, Jasper (the original Tom & Jerry) scares the crap outta me. Something about his character just scares me. Probably the eyes, mouth, fur, or the whole body itself just freaks me out. More specifically the face.
Idk he just scares me, but it's still so cool.
My favorite tom and jerry eraser is the first Hanna Barbera era (1940 - 1957). What's your favorite era?
Nothing like a good old Tom and Jerry cartoon on a Saturday morning! :)
14:09 the new Jellystone series kinda did the same thing but genderswapped some of the characters like Jellystone seems so inspired by Yogis Gang and Quick Draw McGraw makes an appearance as El Kabong
I find it fucking insulting that Hanna-Barbera exists now as name only to promote Scooby Doo.
Do they still mention hanna barbera anymore? Only remember seeing warner bros mentioned now :S
+Gustavo Barría Chavarría hmm really? That is kinda shitty then. Thought it was bad enough when they still did it after Hanna died and HB got absorbed. Never mind now when they're both dead and HB hasnt existed anymore for like 15years :S
ikr?
well there is the cinematic universe in the works based on the characters they created.
Kindle specially when scooby doo sucks balls, the flintstones tom and jerry are much better than that crap
Disney brought animation to cinema, and Hanna Barbera brought animation to television.
Man I LOVED to Watch Tom and Jerry When I Was Little and I still do to this very day
Also a very concise animation look-back on all the history of Disney's animated characters Chip and Dale would be very nice!
14:08: correction, every single character except Tom and Jerry although I can only wish they had included them and you forgot to mention Tom and Jerry Tales and of course the new Tom and Jerry series released last year but of course that had not existed when this video was made
I think they didn't add them because they only wanted to air the shows the made in HB productions Tom And Jerry was Made by HB But It was an MGM cartoon.. but I don't know where Ruff And Reddy were...Why didn't they add them? I guess they meant huckleberry hound and onward. Poor Ruff and Reddy..
Wow Tom and Jerry was the very first Hanna-Barbera cartoon. YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
The Tom & Jerry movie was just a huge slap in the face to Hanna Barbera and the fans. x_x
Oh if you saw what they did w felix the cat’s movie, you would think what they did w tom and jerry was TAME
Happy 60th Birthday, Hanna-Barbera! :)
I remember watching tom and Jerry, the flintstones, yogi, Johnny brock, Dexter's lab scooby door, and the power puff girls. Up in heaven Hannah and barbare I thank you for all these wonderful shows
You're one of us Zodia! Yeah, Scooby-Doo is just awesomeness. Right now I'm hooked on Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. I love this new style of cartoon, and the colors are truly amazing!
A year ago at a local junk shop i go with my dad i usually hunt for DVD’s to add and watch for my collection and i found not one but TWO WHOLE cases with two discs CHOCKED UP With Hanna barberra cartoons! It’s probably the crown jewel of my collection
I'll admit these guys had an equal amount of good and bad ideas, but they certainley are the Kings of Saturday morning television :) Great job Mat, I actually learned a few things I didn't know before.
My parents love most of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, so it's always really nice to sit down and watch some with them.
Back in the late 90s, we got Cave Kids, another Flintstones spinoff that focus on Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm where the original 4 (Fred, Wilma, Barney, & Betty) are completely absent. In that show, Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm are extremely similar to how they were in the original series. Not to mention that they can actually walk & speak. So, technically, we did get a series about the babies.
Tom and Jerry, the original cat and mouse duo!
SudokuBrony AGREE!
SudokuBrony My reaction to Tom and Jerry being the first MGM Cartoon: YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!
I actually really liked the first live-action "Flintstones" movie, sure there was Rosie O'Donnell, but other than her, I thought everyone was perfectly cast.
i agree
Electronic Dragon 505 make a history about Nickelodeon
I Toatly agree its better then viva rock Vegas
I've gotta tell you, you've done a great job of this.
I am surprised that Disney wasn’t happy for their success.
I remember going to jellystone park when I was really little
I love Hanna- Barbera!!!!!!!!! :)
Me too he's a fucking genius 👏
At least they're the first cat and mouse duo that comes to mind.
OH SWEET! I didn't know they were going to put cindy in the new yogi bear movie! The more news like that, I get tempted to go and see it!
Don't forget about the two Flintstones cereals, Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles for after their show
We need a little bit of both.
Did u know Hanna Barbara made wait till your farther gets home
@@cesarbueno8822 wait till your father gets home come out in 1972 the first adult animated show before family guy in 1999 if you want to know
This was the personification of my childhood...
To be fair Tom and Jerry are much well better known for their antics as a cat and mouse duo, Mickey is just too bland to be remembered for other than being a corporate mascot.
Fred Flintstone: YABBA DABBA DOO!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of Honeymooners - Quickdraw Mcgraw seems like Ed Norton.
I LOVE HANNA BARBERA
Also my favorite film is the Phantom Tollbooth and the first and only time I watched it was on Banana Splits show on CN back in mid 90s and at time I tought it was related to The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Liveaction-animation TV show wich I came to know from an 80s VHS release of the whole series as a movie simply titled ''Tom Sawyer and HBFinn'' but TNAofHBF didn't have anything to do with as far as I know the 90s CN rerun of the Banana Splits Show. Interesting how things relate.
I ran around the house with a cool exact looking stuffed huckelberry hound, I even began using puns in my daily speaking.
YO Animat's early voice is fucking WILD
4:20 oh come on I love this song really man Really !!!!!!!!!!!!
Good clean no dirty talk. Wonderfull television back then I remember yogi bear
This is awesome!! I loved exploring the history of Hanna Barbera! Now I'm off to watch the next video!
I wasn't expect to ever see Gabriel Iglacias
Oh, Tom and Jerry had a future alright....
It tortures me that the live-action Flintstones movies didn't do that well. I think they're both hilarious.
The Flintstones was never filmed in black and white. It was in color from the beginning, but shown on TV in black and white, because the ABC network didn't own a color film chain, yet. By 1962, they did.
me and my brother are sort of like Tom and jerry
Same here! LOL!
Who wants animate to do a remake of animation lookback Hanna Barbera after animation lookback Walt Disney+ set a good makes sense because this videos almost 10 years old
That's exactly how my Saturday mornings began when I was little now I'm 15
Here we go. Been looking for this.
Me and my sister used to watch Cartoon Network at our Grandma's house all the time.
@PieFights i went to jellystone near NY in 2003
The man Called Flintstone is my favorite Flintstone Movie!
Me too 😍
I'm the biggest Hanna barbera fan ever and i know more information about there shows and everything then this guy does i love hanna barbera they are gods to me and I live there cartoons 9 times out of 10 I'm always watching there shows and I'm pretty sure it is safe to say that I am the worlds no the galaxy's biggest hanna barbera fan on this earth also god rest there soul as both are gone from, our mortal world but they always are alive in my heart and in my television
Do an Animation Lookback on Nickelodeon
Scarlett Savage He would probably make Pelswick as an honorable mention.
+Harry Shoemaker That also aired on the Nick on CBS block ;)
+Scarlett Savage Yes! I hope he does Nickelodeon! Nickelodeon cartoons were KING during my childhood.
that was my idea😲😲😲😲😲😞😞😞😞😞
I think he'll be talking about spongebob a lot if he does that as Flintstones isn't the best animated series but has a huge pop culture impact that I have to emit it did something good.
I think I should give you an update on the Yogi Bear movie: Cindy wasn't in it. She was probably removed from it during production. However, it has been confirmed that the movie is getting a sequel next year, and Cindy is going to be in that one.
@hackensac well boo boo's voice is awesome
Can you do the history of hanna barbara R = Reboot sometime in 2021or 2022 please 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
Dexter's laboratory is soooooooo gooooood ani mat you make to greatest videos
I Have The Tom and Jerry Cartoons on DVD
They showed this at a local convention, Sac Comic-Con in Sacramento!
Man, I watched so many Hanna Barbera cartoons on Boomerang back in 2007-2008...
Hanna-Barbera would be rolling in their graves now due to The Banana Splits Movie being their their first show turned into a R-Rated Movie, but Tom and Jerry turned R Rated would be absolute terrible and why would a Warner Bros. Turn a show that Hannah-Barbera made?
History of Nickelodeon animation studio Animation lookback
So well done! Thank you so much for making these!! 💖💖💖
Ah, yes! The classic AniMat videos from 2010! Also! Can you consider making an updated version of this? Also mention that new Hanna Barbara network that was originally Cartoon Network Europe!
I liked Yo Yogi, though it didn't do well, yet it was view in 3D, you have to got the glasses from buying Rice Krispies .
Who Do You Vote For Hanna-Barbera Leader?
Scooby Doo Or Yogi Bear
I vote Scooby Doo
I vote Scooby doo
I VOTE Yogi bear but there both very good.
They didn't pick the names out of a hat. It was a $5 contest for who could come up with the names & get the 5 bucks.
Grand Dad
My family loves the Flintstones, my dad even says quotes form it like almost everyday. My Dad kind of the fun guy.
For a split second at 12:25, Yogi’s mouth turns brown.
Awesome video, totally worth the wait!

they actually created cartoon network they are legends ,r.i.p.
Love Hanna-Barbera cartoons (both comedy and superhero). They were such a blast as a kid, with new ones on Saturday mornings and older rerun ones on Sundays. As for the modern ones, like Yo, Yogi, they tend to n I t have the same vibe for me. Though that particular one is memorable to me even though I never saw it for having an episode partially adapted into a NBC Saturday Mornings one-shot comic that had Atom Ant cameo (literally why I bought it) and loose his helmet to a teen Snaglepuss who wore it as a ring. It stand out to me because the story wasn't ended, it just said to see the cartoon for the ending, which by then had aired already. The only cartoon I never set eyes on and was ticked off at, lol.
