For me the most impactful line that gives me the clearest idea of who he is as a character and person is "It's alright, I'll be fine". To me it has multiple meanings past him just believing he won't die. Like with it's first time being said coming immediately after him saying he killed 5 innocent children and his first thought is that he's okay as if he's the one that went through something and is reassuring himself or the viewer when the kids are the ones that suffered. It shows just how much of a narcissistic sociopath he is in that he doesn't actually feel any sympathy for the kids and only thinks about how it affects himself. Then saying it again after saying he's going to finish the job by essentially killing them again reassuring himself and the viewer like a "I'll live with this somehow don't worry". He just can't bring himself to actually reflect on his actions and how they hurt others, only thinking about how they benefit or hurt him. Then we have him talking about actually dismantling the animatronic/kids and how he's doing it "for the sake of his son" yet in this moment that should be a very personal and vulnerable thought for him where he might even being justified in saying so he distinctly doesn't say it hammering in that at the end of the day it's all for himself and he doesn't actually care that much. From that point forward after seeing the ghosts of the children himself his only thought is his own immediate safety making every repetition of the line henceforth actually about him believing he won't die even in these circumstances. Also, can't forget the children mocking him by repeating the line back to him as he's dying, letting him know he's dying by himself the same way he only lived caring about himself. I just think it's incredible how one short line can give so much characterization depending on the context around it.

This song has no right going as hard as it does.
While there are a few William songs out there in the FNaF community (mostly Springtrap songs) I had yet to come across one that is about William's perspective on the whole springlock moment. The thoughts and ideas that must have gone through his head as this moment occurred. And now here we have the perfect song for it.
Not to mention having the springlocks going off as a sound in the song itself makes it 10x more intense and I love it.
Another neat detail I love in the lyrics is the part mentioning William's son. It's such a short moment yet it gives William so much characterization in the entire song.
Axie's song Terrible Things does as well, but yeah that's it from what I've seen. Kinda bizarre that there hasn't been more songs based off one of the most significant events in the franchise
I agree! That's one of the reasons why I liked this song a lot apart from others. I haven't heard one that mentions he's doing it for his son.
also might be a little nod to the movie's rating. "this time there's no gore" and "needed to be done, for my son" makes a bit more sense when the reason the movie is pg-13 is for the younger fans of the games

Song decoding time!
00:00-00:32 - William describes his return to the pizzeria after so many years, the restaurant has become almost a home for him. He also realized that the souls of children were awakened in the works, which he (and Henry) did not expect. William decides to dismantle them to end their perishable existence in robotic shells.
00:32-00:34 - Archangel Gabriel shows up out of nowhere and starts whispering.
00:35-00:54 - William calls back to what he did in the 80s. He took the lives of the kids, and he will do it again, this time, for better.
00:54-01:12 - William again draws parallels between his killing of children in the 80s and his current actions. If then he killed the children with these costumes, leaving their remains inside, now he is doing the opposite, this time without cruel mutilation. He even notes that he is also doing this for the sake of his youngest son, whom he wants to bring back.
01:12-01:14 - Gabriel The Archangel returns again.
01:14-01:34 - William finally realizes his fatal mistake, because the souls of children will not be released just like that: they will be free only if they kill William himself. William begins to run, realizing his position. He runs to his secret room, cornered by his former victims.
01:34-01:51 - The soul of Gabriel (not the Archangel this time), who was in Freddy Fazbear, recognizes William in person, seeing him as a demonic purple figure. Gabriel remembers what William did to him and the other children, and he won't just let him go. Both he and the other children will be free only if William dies himself.
01:51-01:53 - William finds salvation in a spring-locked Yellow Rabbit suit. Wearing it, William laughs, realizing his victory from the fact that the souls do not see him. Suddenly, the springs collapse, leaving William to die painfully, just as his victims died in the past.
01:54-02:13 - Feeling terrible pain, William is still barely alive. He still clings to the hope that he can survive, that he will be stronger.
02:13-02:32 - The souls of the children hum the tune of the song for William, as if mocking him while he is dying and experiencing their past pain. A truly sweet revenge.
02:33-02:43 - William realizes that he will not get out alive. He's not going to give the kids the satisfaction of killing him. He puts the mask of the Rabbit on his head, thereby finishing himself off personally, saying before that that he always comes back.

I'm seeing so much talk about the lyrics about Afton, but Freddy's part... Man does it get to me! Like, I've realized I never really internalized what Afton actually DID to these kids until this song. The description Freddy gives is so eye opening and horrifying! "That purplish figure was bigger and quicker than me" in particular grabs me and throws me into the scenario of the helpless child being overpowered by this bloodthirsty adult. I feel that and just... arghh! These lyrics are so good! What a work of art!!
@Reaper-fw5lp I think what he means is that he knew what happened, but didn't really *get* it in a human sense. Like, you can know that he killed the kids, but not really grasp how terrible an act that is until you think about it from the kid's perspective, what that must have looked and felt like.

It's a tiny thing but the fact that the line "safe inside" is immediately followed by a metal, almost crunch sound is just, *muah, chef kiss, love it*. Also the dripping water effect at the beginning and the end. I love tiny details like that 😄

I love the detail added where he keeps saying "Safe Inside" at the end of the first two choruses implying that Afton knew that the animatronics couldnt hurt him while he was inside the suit. Yet at the end of the last chorus(after he got springlocked) he says: "Stuck Inside". This implies hes literally stuck inside of the suit with no way out. 😮😊👍

Man this song is actually a contender for the best FNaF song. Of course, yes, it's not an OG, it's not from the golden era. But it sure delivers. The setup, the production, everything is just perfect.

I think it’s the world spinning around hin, I believe it’s supposed to represent his downward spiral. It gets more erratic and fast as the song goes on.

I heard the water dripping and knew what this song was about even before the snap. Also the part with the lalas sounds like the kids mocking him as he dies. I also love that this song explores his mind leading up to and during the springlock failure. That hasn't been explored much in the songs I've listened to. A lot of them really only focus on springtrap instead of William before he gets killed.

God, this is such a good song. The clever lyrics, the structure of it all. There’s something so compelling about the repeated “It’s alright, I’LL be fine.” (Especially when paired with: “Five Innocent Lives, I Took Before Their Time. *It’s Alright, I’ll Be fine. Safe inside.*”)
It just gives such a great characterization of Afton’s thought process and narcissism. It doesn’t matter to him that he killed kids, the pain and suffering he inflicted, all that…because the most important thing is that he’s okay, (even if he argues he does certain things for his family, there’s still that ego.) It’s really well done in this song and I can’t help but go back to this song with fascination. Plus…it’s a great bop!

I absolutely love the "Yikes". It reminds me of the animation wear springtrap says the suit still sometimes going off. It also feels very mocking in a way.

That must be the best song about spring trap that I heard at this point. The animation with him spinning really fast as his eyes glow up and you see this distorted version of himself really shows how being springlocked is like an extreme and surreal experience for William without going over the top. I also love how his voice is so robotic in this part, as he goes more crazy and frantic thoughout the video. Then when the kid finishes his sentence with as he says "Stuck inside" in a robotic voice conveys the mocking tone they have with him, williams agony, and the idea of them watching and stalking him so they know what hes gonna say and theyre there when hes dead. Then Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalla as william is whrithing on the floor in agony and the text starts glitching out is perfect. The model for springlocked william could use some work because its very photoshopped and weird right now. I also cant say Im the biggest fan of the last part where he says I always come, because I feel like it undermines the rest of the third verse. Although I get the apeal of the cool catchphrase and i understand if you do like that part. Overall the third verse is a very cool yet creepy end to the song which matches perfectly with the theme of the song.

As a musician myself, I absolutely ADORE this song. I love me some good key changes showing the progression to insanity. At 0:15 the few instruments they have playing aren’t really straying from the melody that much so it’s as if William is alone with his thoughts, taking in the memories of his old, forgotten pizzeria. Throughout the song, the key changes represent him finding out that things aren’t as they seem. They’re versions of the normal melody, but the different notes show curiosity and frustration on William’s behalf. After all the chaos of him getting a springlocked, at around 2:33 you’re back to the same type of beat as the beginning. William is now alone with his thoughts again, now stuck in a rabbit suit for the rest of eternity

There are more examples of this happening but those are two of the most popular fan made names. Plus if you look at the movie, it’s covered in references from both fans and canon. [Spoilers ahead] famous CZcamsrs who played a major role in the popularity of fnaf such as matpat were in the movie and Markiplier was suposed to be in the movie, but wasn’t bc of scheduling delays. Again, I respect your opinion, but I’ve also seen how the fan base has shaped certain aspects of fnaf.
Some things yes are not cannon such as Carl being the name of Chica’s cupcake as well as the debate on CC’s cannon name, I’m not saying fans are dictating everything about the fnaf fandom, just some things here and there that make this game truely unique and amazing compared to other horror games like it.
