    As a young boy I had a book illustrating this railway in an earlier form and was amazed at such a construction, thanks for doing this trip for me it was a wonderful experience that I hope to do myself one day, as always cheers and stay safe.

      Hi Simon, cheers mate. I reckon this is a fairly easy weekend thing with a flight to Düsseldorf. I did it with Eurowings and it was cheaper to stay there than Wuppertal. Go for it! 👍

    I went to Wuppertal for the same purpose last September. I did the same as you except I went from the Hbf to Oberbarmen first, then the whole line to Vohwinkel.
    When I was there, outside the Hbf was under construction and a mess so it's good to see that it's finished.
    0:10 - Wuppertal is also famous as the birthplace of Friedrich Engels.

      Ah the Famous German philosopher, of course (sorry, had to google it - ngl 😉). I just got on the first train that turned up tbh. I think it’s definitely one of those places you can just ride with no particular plan and, if you see something interesting, just get off at the nearest stop or the one after and walk to it (see my Lego bridge video for one such example).

    Such a cool video. I really enjoyed the trip from the rear window, and also how it did the turn at the depot. I’ve seen videos about this train before, but so happy you showed us these features!

      Cheers! Yep they don’t have to change cabs see so it’s just a case of driving it round. Definitely recommend a trip if you’re ever down that way 👍

    Been waiting for this one! I need to sort myself a short trip over here to ride on this line, been sort of obsessed since I first saw the line in a 70s German film I saw in the Cinema last year!

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  Před 2 lety +1

      Do you remember the name of the film? Wouldn’t mind checking that out. I can’t remember where I heard about this myself but yeh, like you, once I knew about it I just had to give it a go. This was my 2nd attempt but definitely worth it and fairly easy to get to from Düsseldorf 👍

      Hi Andy, thanks very much. I had a good time - one of those places I’d been trying to get to for a while and a ‘nice to say I’ve done it’ kind of trip. Glad it brought back good memories 😊👍

    Did a school exchange trip there in 1967, but stayed beyond the eastern end of the line. It was a short bus journey to get to the tram terminus for the ride to Oberbarmen. As I recall, Wuppertal is a collection of smaller towns strung out along the river valley, with the schwebebahn being an ideal way to link them together. Looking at it now, very much has the feel of the Calder Valley. Wonder if the idea will catch on?

    Glad you finally made it to Wuppertal! Brings back memories of my trip last August, except you had better weather! I managed to buy my ticket from a machine, but not without some confusion! They weren’t easy to use. Don’t blame you buying yours from a newsagent

      @LetsMakeaTrip  Před 2 lety

      Hi CatB, the ads, I’m afraid that, for a tiny little channel like mine, it’s the main way of generating a small amount of income so that I can make more content for everyone. I know quite a few of my subs have got the premium service so that is an option…..
