- Jack O'Kelley is a stand-out athlete throughout his youth and into high school where he letters all four years in Lacrosse and football. He's also a member of the National English Honor Society.
Thanksgiving morning, Jack's family gets ready to celebrate the holiday. His dad calls Jack to come home from a friend's house. No answer. He calls the family friends where Jack spent the night. The parents invite Jack's father to come over, the boys are still asleep. He drives over and a few minutes later, calls his wife in a panic. Jack is dead.
An autopsy finds that Jack had overdosed. Mother Angela King thinks her son, Jack O'Kelley, swallowed what he believed was a Xanax pill, not knowing it was counterfeit and contained a deadly amount of Fentanyl.
This is just one of multiple tragic stories involving fentanyl.

This is exactly how it is happening. Kid has a headache, friend got some headache/muscle ache pills from a friend or stolen them from an addicted relative, gives them to another kid, & they are gone. I constantly tell my 17year old athlete to not ask anyone for even a Tylenol.

My niece was murdered by her "husband" and he made her a pill with fentanyl in it. She died at 33 leaving two small children behind. Her disabled mom is now raising them. The so called husband was convicted of murder and only spent 3 yrs in prison . No one should die that way and it's unjust for someone who did this only get 3 yrs of killing someone. My prayers go with this family may God comfort and strengthen you. May justice be done for your son.

I'm 69, my Dad grew up during the depression in NY City. He saw really bad things. He said to me "if you ever use drugs, I'll kill you as that is a better way to die than by drugs". Kept me scared and straight. I drank and then found that I couldn't do that either. Escaping emotions, situations are not taught in our society.

I’m from Canada, 3 boys 15-16 yr olds tried a pill 💊 out of medicine cabinet. Honour Role students and foot ball players. 1 boy passed away, one boy was fine and one boy was left with brain damage.
That's horrible, so sad.
May I ask where the original pills came from to end up in the medicine cabinet😔. (No worries if you don't want to share. It's just a new, neverending fear for all how & where they get them originally)

I heard of a case a while back, some young girls took prescription meds out of one of their parents’ medicine cabinet. It was for high blood pressure. When you don’t have high blood pressure and it goes too low….. 😢 they somehow thought they’d get high but they died.

My 35 year old daughter passed away from an accidental overdose. My daughter ( her sister) and son in law both RNs done CPR for 45 minutes and the hospital intubated her but they weren’t able to revive her. She was a beautiful young woman, wife, mother, sister and daughter. I miss my Amy so very bad every single minute of every day😢. Prayers for this young man’s family 🙏

One thing that wasn’t touched on in this video that I think is very important info to know, is that Narcan is an effective antagonist to opiate overdoses, but that a person in the midst of an overdose may require multiple repeat doses of Narcan. Always call EMS for patients who overdose, because chances are they will require emergency care, even if their respiratory drive comes back. I’m an EMT and it’s always a concern that the opiates will outlast the Narcan, and that the patients will go back into respiratory failure!

So the mom found the guy her son was buying drugs from.? The son had a venmo account to the dealer. The son knew he wasn't getting a Xanax, he was purchasing drugs. Yes very sad, but the son was using drugs.

Back in the day, my mom scared me straight by reminding me that len bias was a young, strong and healthy basketball player who did cocaine just once and died. I never did drugs, in part due to that fear. You don't know how your body is going to react, so don't risk it.

Not every OD is as dramatic as they make it out to be in the movies.
I have an older cousin who ODed twice. Once during football training, it cost him his dream and his future, and another time among friends, he was only saved because there were medical professionals nearby on both occasions. And even though his team's medical team was on standby, he still spent weeks in a coma.
Also when there's a group of intoxicated people a few gasps, or throwing up or any other symptoms can be considered either to be expected or disregarded as someone playing a prank. According to whitenesses my cousin was talking about wanting to party so hard Lucifer would be jealous and then he slumped in a corner with his leg jerking and waking up one of his friends who decided to call granny (btw Granny was a medical worker) because things were getting weird and cousin wasn't stopping the jerking even after a slap. That's the reason granny called an ambulance and visited their party at 3 am, had she not gotten the call he probably would have been found the next morning.
I’m outraged at how these people are flooding our home with these powerful drugs.
I blame trump. He killed the bill that would've fixed the border issue. He told the Reps to vote against it.

It’s hard to hear his Mom talk. He looks like my own Jack who’s almost 24 and just graduated from UTK last year with honors. A year ago yesterday I stood and held my brother’s hand as he died from a Fentanyl overdose. He was 60. It reached our family too. You don’t think it can reach your family until it knocks on your door uninvited.

@lemaa4820 yep... these teens are doing deals through there and they are hard to find because of the messages disappearing so ppl don't know that's where they are getting them... She wasn't an addict, she was just a kid experimenting... She was on life support for about a week, her parents had to make the difficult decision to take her off... Her father struggled horribly with it, to the point of being removed from the hospital at one point... It was heartbreaking

They stopped making Vicodin years ago. It was Loratab after that, and now it's called Narco. All 3 are Hydrocodone. I am shocked to hear people in their teens and 20's say Vicodin because that was so many years back, over a decade.

It’s not manufactured legally. At least not the type that people are easily getting on the street. It’s a synthetic opioid which means anyone who knows a lot about chemistry could learn how to make it. I think the majority of it is being made in other countries and getting past the border which is the main source. Don’t quote me on that as I’m not completely sure. It’s just not the same as the medication that’s being manufactured legally for medical use in North America. It’s simply the same chemical makeup essentially and being mixed with other illegally produced drugs similar in chemical makeup to the name brands they mention, they also make pill presses to make their own Frankenstein drug mix look like a few different known prescription brands from North America. That’s why it’s become so dangerous. It’s not addicts that are even most likely to die. It’s the young naive people who think they’re taking something they’ve taken before and it’s not what it is. Unfortunately it seems a lot of young people are experimenting with pills of all things more than ever. And it’s no exaggeration when people say it’s Russian roulette to take any pill, I’d go as far as saying unless you pick it up from the pharmacy yourself. People need to stop blaming the victims and treat this as 1st degree murder by poisoning. At this point I wouldn’t doubt that many of these overdoses aren’t accidental. Even if it’s not intentional? Anyone selling this stuff knows someone is likely to die from it. That’s murder.
@@lillianlrogue9480 fentanyl is manufactured with chemicals from china and makes it's way to the streets..2 mg is lethal.. whomever is making it needs to be stopped.. whether a pharmaceutical company here in America or wherever... they are putting it in several different pills.. google it
There’s a channel on here called “Texas documentaries” or something similar. They did a special where they personally drove over the border, went to a pharmacy in Mexico and obtained pain killers over the counter. I think they got like 10 Percocet legally over the counter, drove back across the boarder and tested the pills for fentanyl. I believe 9 of the 10 pills contained fentanyl. These were obtained legally from a pharmacy across the border in Mexico!!
Unfortunately- this market is driven directly by addicts, in places like skid row CA, kensington PA, seattle WA, Most of the time fent/H addicts dont take the actual pill. They break it up, crush a portion of it, and either inject or smoke it. The extremely concentrated fake pills are incredibly popular on the street because addicts can get high longer for less $.

Little did I know that this was just the beginning stages of life threatening domestic violence. That man was sentenced to 6.5 years In prison and the man told me it was only one half of a vikoden. I almost died- I had to be resuscitated in front of my children. The “pull and pray” method and thankfully I made it. Put an end to this mess please. It's doesn't matter what form the drug is in. Kids aren't buying drugs cuz they look like Smarties. They know what they're buying. My sister-in-law is a single mom with two teen boys. I get the inside scoop of what suburban teen blonde hair blue eyed white boys so when they "sleep over at a friend's house". I know what they _try_ to do when they sleep over when I'm nephewsitting... 🤦♀ 14yo one took my car when I was sleeping, picked up his buddy, and went joyriding and weedsmoking. We had a 3hr convo about this and his other issues. He said what he did was stupid, apologized, said he'll never do it again, understands how things could have gone extremely wrong, blah blah blah. He stole my car again that very night. His little suburban friends are not as angelic as they seem. ;D
My Son also died from Fentanyl, August 2nd it will be 3 years. This was the worst day of my life and you never get over the pain. I think about him every day.

Why are the dealers killing their customers? Can someone explain why it’s added to drugs?
Why are they taking a pill that is not prescribed. Parents need to discuss this with their children not to take a pill from someone they probably don't know or from anyone. DO nOT TAKE THE PILL! This problem is so sad but it could be prevented. Law enforcement needs to crack down on this. Please talk to your children!

It's scary! I worked in substance abuse, and I taught my children not to take pills that are not prescribed to them.

You are correct. My mom and I argue about this subject. She’s all saying all these drugs coming in because of open borders. But for real, they have Hogans Hero’s style tunnels all under the border. They are coming in no matter what. It realistically can’t be stopped. The can find a tunnel but a new one is coming right up.
Weird that the friends didn’t cough up the truth and that the family had to wait until the autopsy to know what exactly happened.

I lost my little bother Jan 31 2017 from a fentanyl and cartifenal overdose. He chose to do heroin but I guess the guy apologized to my dad a year or so later and said he knew it was fent and not heroin but he thought my brother could handle it. I never knew how my dad didn't kill that boy because I still to this day hold a grudge because he essentially admitted he killed my brother. I used for many years and thank God got clean a couple of years before this epidemic started I didn't know the guy who gave my brother the fentanyl but I do like to let everyone know he goes by dread and lives in Hamilton Ohio and he KNEW he was killing my brother 💔
