Milling Lumber with Wood-Mizer LT35 for Future Passive House, Stacking, & Drying

  • Utilizing trees on the property, which had to be cleared, to mill them into interior wall framing, ceiling, and siding. Contracted with Piper's Mill, out of Sequim, WA. They are a professional crew with their Wood-Mizer LT35 Mill.

    Did you have them mill it up to actual 2x4 or the 1.5x3.5 like you would get at a lumber yard?

      I will end up with a standard 1.5 x 3.5", but we went bigger as it is still wet. After it shrinks, I will plane it down.

      @@einarmikkelsenPNW did you go 1/8 over to account for shrinkage and planing? Been toying around with the idea of getting a saw mill from woodland for the last 2 years. Would be much easier than my chainsaw mill I use now but typically I’m doing true 2x4 or 4x4.
