  • This video shows a mobile-App which enables a virtual reconstruction of a medieval castle-ruin (Frauenburg Castle near Idar-Oberstein, Germany). I developed this app for my studies in computer-science. The app was created using Unity, ARMedia-SDK and Vuforia SDK.

Really neat, thanks for sharing! If one developer can do this for school, imagine what a full team could accomplish! Could really revolutionize historical site-seeing.

amazing, just searching for full post process ...and also what about implementing photogrammetry
and using that for greater resolution?

I'm doing something about digital reconstruction also!
How did you make it? I mean like how do you make the model be placed like that as if it was part of the real world?
So far i've done some experimenting with extended tracking but not sure if i'm on the correct way :/
I'm developing with latest vuforia and unity.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The part you see in this video is actually done using the AR-Media SDK (dev.inglobetechnologies.com/). The SDK allows you to build 3D-Targets regardless of their scale. Unfortunatley, you will need to apply for a Trial-Version to try the software. And be warned, creating a large scale 3D-Target can mean blood, sweat and tears ;) Good Luck anyway, i'd love to see some results of your project.
