- On this episode of the “Chasing Glory Classics Series”, Lilian sits down with former WWE Women’s and Divas Champion, Michelle McCool. You heard this interview June 2019, now watch this NEVER BEFORE SEEN interview footage for the first time. In this episode, Michelle talks about what she’s been up to since leaving the WWE as well as why exactly she left the company back in 2011. She speaks about her upbringing and what it was like growing up with the pressure of being in the McCool family. She talks all about how she got into the WWE as she reveals that she initially applied for Tough Enough but never actually turned in her application. Once she became part of the roster, Michelle would talk about having to fight for every second of TV time and why she didn’t give herself the chance to celebrate her successes. Michelle EXCLUSIVELY opens up about her personal life and marriage to Mark Calaway who most people know, as The Undertaker. She speaks about how they started dating as well as the moment that he fell in love with her. But with that comes a stigma, so she talks about how she dealt with having the stigma of being “The Undertakers girlfriend” to now being “The Undertaker’s Wife”. Michelle speaks about her love of being a mother to her little girl but how she has struggled to get pregnant again and dealing with her unfortunate miscarriages. Michelle lovingly shares about the bond she has with her squared circle sisters as well as sharing beautiful memories of working with the late Ashley Massaro and being part of the GoFundMe page to raise money for her daughter. Michelle McCool was an absolute BEAST in the ring. She came from a non-wrestling backround and became one of the greatest female workers in WWE. She made everyone look so great in the ring and gave lesser-experienced girls some of their best matches. Michelle was not only a great wrestler, but she knew how to work and carry a match.
She's a legend and future Hall of Famer!
I feel like people try to discredit Michelle McCool because she married the Undertaker. But she truly is a beast in the ring a great wrestler and she fought for storylines and everything she’s definitely a future hall of fame.

Michelle McCool is an underrated performer. She needs to get that Hall of Fame nod sooner before later.
I think the only reason she has not is because is might want to do that last run.
I didn't have internet when Michelle was in WWE. So I had no clue of her relationship until after she left. It's crazy for me to know people see her as just Taker's girl. I've always seen her as one of the women who kept the Divas division strong in a dark time.

Same here! I think I found out they were married in 2014 or something but I always knew her as what she was, an underrated worker and talker. She and a few others were the only thing keeping the Divas division alive in 2009 and 2010.

It's so disheartening to hear about what Michelle went through. I exchanged fan emails with her back in 2005, when she briefly started wrestling and she was such a sweetheart. I watched her amazing wrestling career grow. So unfortunate that she was only getting into the spotlight when the women's division was barely acknowledged by the WWE and that people attributed her success to dating Taker. You can tell that she worked very hard to get to where she was in her prime.
It is true that there was an *awful* lot of nepotism going on in WWE back in 2008-2010. If you were associated with the McMahons, or with anybody who had connections to them, it was never long before you were in the main event picture. With that in mind, it's not surprising that people associated Michelle's success with being the girlfriend of the most respected wrestler in the pro-wrestling industry, let alone the company. But if you'd seen any of her matches, in which she got more than three minutes of ring time, you'd know she was on an entirely different level from virtually every other WWE Diva, except Beth Phoenix, and maybe Natalya.
And realistically, she was never pushed that much more than Melina or Mickie James were being at the time or how Trish Stratus and Lita had been in the past. She was booked the way a top heel should be - as one to beat but who wasn't invincible. All of her heel title wins were done via interference, so she didn't bury anyone, and she put loads of women over like Beth, Melina, Mickie and even Maria, Kelly Kelly and eventually Layla. Michelle had four title reigns, but Mickie had six, Melina had five and Beth had four, and her second Women's Championship win was as a transitional champion where they swapped Mickie for Beth as the top face

As a person who has been a lifelong fan of the Undertaker I'm so happy to have listened to this podcast anything that touches the Undertaker turns to gold my Michelle McCool is one of them she's the gift that keeps on giving my mother could not have children in 1985 I was adopted that was a very lucky child then and also something very drastic happen to one of my best friend's wife she already had 4 kids and they went for a fifth one she had a miscarriage although I was not her wife I was so devastated to hear that because you wouldn't think as long as I've known her that she would ever have that happen to her not in this lifetime you just want everybody to be safe and healthy and not have to worry about outside interference no pun intended I miss both of you guys being in the ring and on TV and I was so happy that he was able to do the documentary The Last Ride you and your family will forever be in my heart I hope one day that we can meet but if not maybe we'll see each other on the other side love and respect have a good one.

WOW what an amazing interview, this made me see the another side of Michelle Mcool and made me love her even more, I hope she read this because she is my biggest inspiration.
It would be the opposite if I’d had seen her because I would freak out over her! I would ask about laycool, what it felt like being the first divas champ and first to hold the Divas and Women’s championships. Michelle is a Legend!
People always say that Michelle McCool only got to where she's at due to being Undertaker's wife and even though she was never as big as Lita, Victoria or Trish Stratus but yet she still managed to make a name for herself and carved out her own legacy. She not only improved in the ring but became a good solid wrestler in her own right. I loved her run with Layla El as LayCool, it was very entertaining and i still to say this day it was her best work as a heel. A very underrated wrestler, honest, reliable and incredibly beautiful with a good heart, Undertaker is a very lucky man.
Didn't she marry Undertaker after she retired?
She married Undertaker while competing for WWE, she retired a year later in 2011

Michelle McCool crawled so heels like Zelina Vega could walk. Love them both! I also had no idea they were together until Taker's retirement. She was always had this dominating presence in the ring.

Michelle McCool is a true legend of WWE. She deserves her place in the WWE hall of fame not because she's The Undertakers wife but for her wrestling ability, she worked extremely hard and was just as safe as the taker to work with. She is a class act inside and outside of the ring. The Undertaker struck gold when he met you and got married 💛 and you have such a wonderful daughter who may or may not wants to become a wrestler. You were both true entertainers of the wrestling business and Michelle is as tough SOB as Stone Cold after what she's been through. You are such a great family enjoy your retirement the three of you. I know the Undertaker is getting inducted this week in the Hall of Fame but Michelle deserves equal recognition as she was a true and great performer in her own right 👍🙏😃

People are so mad at Michele for getting married to Taker but I find absolutely NOTHING wrong with it,Michele is also one of my fav WWE superstar I look up to her a lot. She’s also an inspiration,and it does suck to hear that people try using her just to get taker, ofc I adore taker ofc to, but it really hurts to hear that people snoop down to that level.Michele has a a lot of talent and most definitely deserves to go into the Hall Of Fame, soon as possible! But I do find it really adorable and cute that taker gave Michele his coat it’s litterally the cutest thing in the world. Back in the day, I hated Michelle McCool (the character, not the person) so intensely that I would have very much enjoyed to see her lying in the middle of the ring, in the aftermath of an extreme rules match, wearing a crimson mask. Even then, thankfully, I knew full well she was only playing a role, and was a total southern sweetheart in real life.

Back at the women's Royal Rumber in 2018, when she came out, the audience didn't cheer as much and I felt bad. I also wondered why are they so silent since I loved her wrestling since I was 6-7. Everytime someone talked about the women's division of that Era, my favorite would be her. I guess some people just have their opinions but I found it very peculiar at that time.

She ended up being the best wrestler from the diva search ever. She was just overpushed too much down fans throats like Cena and Reigns have been. The first ever divas title, slammy award, first woman to hold womens and divas title, unified champion. All while Natalya, Jillian Hall, Victoria and Gail Kim were buried by WWE just didn't go down well the fans, Undertaker’s backstage politics definitely helped her. She was never truly over with the fans
