This is a great lesson. It always felt awkward to go from german/wrist motion to french/fingers motion and since I also don't use the german grip with fingers, this feels perfect to transition between the two. Thank you so much James once again!

    Great explanation man.
That wrist motion helps me keep time better at faster tempos. It's great in the arsonal.

I'm glad you liked the video! Same for me, wrist motion is the main motion I use for control and speed!

    Hi James,
Here you're describing rotating of wrist from French position and stick is going outside.
But what about wrist rotation from German grip?
I'm practicing wrist motion according to your routines playing with 3 dynamics 4-6-8 strokes for each hand. And at the fastest part with smallest dynamics my right hand tends to make rotating motions. The rotation of wrist looks same as you're showing here but as it starts from German position, stick moves inside hand (not outside as you're showing here). Feeling of it is rather comfortable and helps speeding up. So I'm trying to teach my left hand doing same.
What do you think about such motions? Or may be it'd be better discuss it in next individual video question?

Dude im in the same position as you are. Have u fixed the problem though? My left hand now is far better than my right because of this in terms of finger control, wrist control and everything. Im a right hander but what i kinda got from james is that even with the slightest misalignment it could create very different feelings for hands. Its SUPER annoying now trying to rectify my right hand because of this. Overall, i def find that by learning and applying this rotating motion from the french grip first then to german to both hands would help ur speed and control TENFOLD. My finger control for my left hand is absurdly good but my right hand is just utter shit now because i do not have this rotating motion thing going on. Also because of that my right stick feels heavier as compared to my left.

@@yasin7118 We've discussed this point with James via individual video question. After this I use only vertical motions for both grips. I'm not yet a good drummer, so can't give good advice. I'd recommend to ask James individually, btw video questions cost not much but are very effective helping to solve individual issues.

I cant hit the surface using rotation motion, the stick just moves left and right
