What makes you think it was Mexico's A-Team as well?? Some of the US Players have also been part of the Confederations Cup squad and the majority have been playing together under Bradley when he had his camp in January at the HDC. Thats no excuse. Mexico has come from three coaches already and those players have not yet played more than 8 games straight together
@tripleshawndx The Mexican gold cup squad was not their A-team due to the fact the those players didn't even played 5 matches together when the tournament started Vela wasn't even a starter neither as Juarez and managed by a third coach in a world cup cycle.

Well, team USA just recently beat Mexico's A-team (with all their European stars) at the Aztec Stadium, where they r usually unbeatable. Even world champion Spain barely managed a last-minute tie there last year.

He had his players in MLS season mode while other teams the players were in pre-season mode. Another advantage the US had in the Gold Cup.. Donovan had the H1N1 2 weeks before the World Cup qualifying match at Azteca. But its funny he never said that up until after the game.
This is not the Mexico team that the United States beat in 2007 at the Gold Cup. It's not even the one that they faced in Gold Cup qualifying .Those teams had rotating platoons all over the pitch, especially at striker. Javier Hernandez is far and away better than any striker that Mexico has had between now and the prime of Jared Borgetti. Andres Guardado was always injured. Giovani dos Santos couldn't get playing time with his clubs. The back line and goalie switched around all the time

And just in case you weren't aware Chicharito also scored on his debut with Chivas at the age of 17, not to mention his goal came in a more demanding league than the MLS. And to clarify, Salcido, Maza Rodriguez, Hector Moreno, Guardado, Giovanni Dos Santos are Mexicans all throughout Europe that play first team soccer on a regular basis with their respective clubs.

All i can say is that usa lost for the fact that they had all theyre starting players and part of their b string players back in south africa playing in a tourney that actually counted. the Confederations cup was more important to us and thats why we didnt give a crap about the gold cup that year. Im surprised we even made it to the finals with out B and C string team! im glad we let the mexicans have a good time, they needed it after all the times weve have kicked their ass in te past years!!
