  • The final hour of the third and final Olympic class liner, HMHS Britannic.
This video is comprised of a series of play-throughs I did and edited together to give various different perspectives during the sinking of the Britannic. The video has baked historical subtitles, with sources mentioned at the end of the video.
The free camera segments were not done with scripted cameras, they were done manually with a xbox controller as such there are mistakes with my movement. However, I tried to keep movement as smooth and steady as I could.
Filmora9 was used to edit the video together.
Britannic Patroness of the Mediterranean is a product by Vintage Digital Revival LLC 2020
Credits song: Hospital Interiors by Anthony Casalena, used with permission from THG dev Matthew Dewinkeleer.
This video is dedicated to the 30 souls lost in the sinking of the Britannic. It is also dedicated to divers Carl Spenser and Tim Saville who lost their lives while diving the wreck. Carl in 2009 and Tim in 2019.
Filmora9 was the video editing software used .
Notes on fps dips in the video.
Gameplay was recorded on my old pc which had --
    i7 8750h 6 cores, 12 threads
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 VRAM
    32GB DDR4 RAM @2666 MHz
game was installed on a gen3 NVMe SSD as well.
FPS target was 60fps at 1920x1080
average was 50fps with a mix of epic, high, and cinematic on the post processing.
AA was turned down to medium for the upclose shots on the telegraths.

30:55 Despite her bow being low in the water and the increasing list to starboard. To Bartlett it feels like the rate of sinking has stabilized.
33:46 The portside engines are restarted again in a second attempt to reach Kea.

47:16 Water is reported on D-deck.
47:23 Captain Bartlett sounds the whistles for the engineers to abandon ship.

50:40 The stern comes clear of the water.
50:57 The funnels begin to collapse.
51:24 The stern rises high into the air as the ship continues to capsize over to starboard.
54:07 Britannic's bow strikes the sea bed and the stern settles back into the water.
    55:01 The stern submerges

From Titanic Honor and Glory Britannic Patroness of the Mediterranean real time sinking video they got the time wrong at 9.05 a.m. Britannic is gone. In the game in history it is said she foundered at 9.12. The correct time is 9.07.

The rudder was turned to port because Britannic was overshooting Kea, but by the time this order was given too much of the rudder was out of the water to be effective. The rudder is facing slightly to port on the wreck today.

1:55 An update on this a few years later.
Richie Kohler and his dive team have recently photographed Boiler Room 4. I'm not going to say that the water tight door that separated BR's 5 and 4 failed to shut, but the confirmation that dive photos were taken in that area seem to suggest this to be the case.

Hey, I'm planning on doing a Livestream on the anniversary of the sinking. I was hoping to have a segment of watching and commentating on the real-time sinking. Unfortunately, my computer is incapable of running POTM on stream. I would like to ask if you'd be okay with me using your video? I also prefer a lot more of the angles used in your video than the ones in THG's, and the text provides more details that would be interesting to talk about. If not, that's completely fine.

Might wanna refresh on your Britannic research. The funnels are depicted falling the way they do due to how they were discovered on the sea floor. Funnel 3 first, then funnel 2, then funnel 4. Funnel 1 either fell as it went under (as depicted here) or held on until Britannic hit the sea floor. Captain Bartlett mentioned that shortly after he got away from the ship he saw funnel 3 fall first.
