They also discuss if there could be a PLL video game in the near future and what it takes to bring a game to market (26:5) and lastly if Lyle Thompson is expected to be back in the PLL (32:15)

A new lax game would be awesome on current consoles, it’s getting so rough to play the Powell ‘18 game in 2024. If you have to partner with a major developer, might want to avoid EA and aim for a company that focuses on quality/player experience rather than maximizing profits (ultimate team modes, micro transactions, ignoring or even removing offline modes that aren’t profitable to the company, etc). College football is coming back, let’s bring lacrosse back to gaming too!

As a lacrosse fan from the UK an established lacrosse console video game would have a massive impact on the spread of the PLL brand. Makes the league so accessible even if you’re not willing to stay up till 3 am to watch games live.

Would NLL be willing to co-invest? It would be best to have field & box all in one game anyway. A career mode where I can work my way through college and then get drafted into the PLL & NLL would be INCREDIBLE!!
I think if you could find a partner that would be willing to crowd-fund a FIFA-style PLL game, it could reach the mark and also leaves both parties with a lot less risk.
IMO if you are going to make a game, it should be a simulation-style game. A lot of sports fans, even those outside lacrosse, have been craving a good simulation-franchise mode which none of the major titles are providing.
I know myself and TONS of people have gotten into European soccer in America because FIFA was so good when they first played it. You could even invest in sports-gaming influencers to try it out and push it to the massive simulation-sports fandom that may not intersect with Lacrosse but would play the heck out of the game. I acutally think a PLL lacrosse game is much more than a financial investment its a massive investment in the popuarity of the league and sport.
The biggest key there is finding the right partner that is going to make a good game & seeing if the masses would help support it via crowdfunding.
EA already has the gameplay they should be the same as the NHL controls
So are you saying that the way a player is drafted is by the coach sending tape? That answer wasn't clear to me

Someone’s going to have to make a proposal to take two/2k. I say that because they’d be the more realistic option. The proposal should include the stats/economics of games like 2k top spin/ 2k cricket and show projections on how a pll video game would perform relative to those less popular games. (I’m assuming those numbers would do pretty well compared to the tennis/cricket game). Seems like It would be an easy sell. Now someone go nerd out and put together the proposal for them.
I’d definitely buy it as long as care and thought is put into it and not just micro transactions and a battle pass
make a videogame come on now! so many lacrosse players will play it and buy it if its like 30-40 bucks. Plus if people start playing it that dont play lax they might go to pll games and buy stuff from PLL! Lets make it happen!

I think the PLL gets lost on ESPN because there are soooo many sporting genres and games....need to do what the MLS did on Apple +, go there where you would stick out. Plus get Vision Pro cameras close to the field and provide something special for lacrosse. You need to differentiate yourself from every other sport out there. (Assigning cities to teams seemed like a step backward when there aren't many teams to start with.)

My son plays lacrosse and I'm at every game wishing I had been exposed to lacrosse when I was young.. it's a lot of people in the world that don't even know that the sport even exists.

if we get a lacrosse video game, please let it be serious and not some NBA street style chaos fest ... that type of game only sustains people for so long compared to more simulation experiences. If you want it to actually have longevity, I'm telling you from tons of video game experience, DO NOT GO CARTOON, GOOFY OR CRAZY
Yes as some people have been saying. Avoiding EA and other greedy microtransaction and loot box driven games. It has ruined sports games with lazy low-quality production.
Would the game be called "MLL REBOOT"? You lost a lot of fans with your East Coast lacrosse bias. The 2 best college teams are located in the Midwest yet no PLL teams. My kids are now disinterested in the PLL.
I think they purposely started in all the east coast and west coast hotbed's first. It sounds like Chicago will get a revived Chrome team. Oh and before you mentions the Archers they just won the championship so they can't rebrand them. That brand doesn't work as good in Ohio as it does in Utah and Utah has been a good location when they have come there. They have a college team there as well the Utah Utes.
