    cut the ends, they can split deeper and end up stunting growth depending on how much u let it split

    Yep, castor oil is the truth! I mixed it once with sufer 8 and left it pretty much untouched for almost 2 months wearing a wig and when I permed the groth was shocking. To be honest, I thought I was hallucinating from lack of sleep so I blew it out and went to work. All day long my co-workers were questioning me in amazement. It is the TRUTH. Unfortunately it breaks out my face. 😕 ORS carrot oil and hair mayonnaise work well too. I no longer shampoo, I only deep condition once a week with hair mayonnaise or mixed chick's deep conditioner. My hair is well past my shoulders.

    Awesome tips! Thanks. I use castor oil and protective styles that require little to no hair ornaments i.e. twists or braids. I had breakage but its not a problem anymore. I use sandalwood essential oil...its a bit pricy, but it works miracles and I use light weight oils (olive, grape seed, and avacado). I learned that coconut oil is too heavy for my hair type. This hair journey is awesome because of people like you (taking time to share your experiences!) Thanks!

      +MicheallAntionette I don't really have the access to wigs or anything (I'm only 16 too lol), but my hair is just so thin that I just wear it up and don't know what to do with it. It's also curly which makes it worse because it is dry and the conditioners are too heavy and weight it down... Seems kinda hopeless for me.

    • @shelltalkshair
      @shelltalkshair  Před 8 lety +3

      Oh no... don't give up it'll only make you feel worse about your hair. You have to keep trying to figure out what works. I'm still trying to figure out my hair. If your hair is shedding and breaking off a lot that would cause it to be thin as well.

    I think hair thickness has to do with hormones and genes really. I do nothing like dye hair, and all of the stuff and my hairs not very thick at all but I don't do anything bad with it at all. people with thick hair don't do anything at all do they to keep the hair thick. they wash conditioner dye it and its thick!. so...yeh.

    Perhaps I was a little harsh and I apologize. I could have been more diplomatic. However, you stated in your did not suffer from split ends, but rather thinness. I was under the assumption when hair become thin and begins to shed there's a reason why. Hair does not normally just fall out if the hair is heathy. There's always a reason why the hair becomes thin. I stand by my remarks that a good cut would reduce any further damage to the hair.

    My hair is shoulder length but I need a trim, because of previous series of extremely damage I have caused its thinning,falling out,breaking off and can't grow. But the real problem is is getting it to look decent.I wear it in a tight bun with a sponge and I feel it makes things worse.

    • @jasminepadgett3883
      @jasminepadgett3883 Před 9 lety

      +Kimberly Letash Try putting your hair away for awhile by wearing braids or doing braid outs on your hair. This will help avoid the temptation of flat ironing or overlapping relaxers. Some people like sew-ins too but just be aware that if they put the sew in too tight it can actually rip parts of your hair out. I generally, wear my hair in LOOSE ponytails or buns when I want to tuck my ends away. Also, go ahead and get that trim lol. Split ends keep splitting which only makes it worse!

    • @shelltalkshair
      @shelltalkshair  Před 8 lety +1

      +Kimberly Letash Tight buns are definitely not good. It creates too much tension on your hair and causes breakage, especially if your hair is dry. Try doing a twist out or loose buns and wear those till your hair starts to recover. Be sure to alternate where you wear your buns. There are many different ways to rock them and they cause less tension verses braids and weaves. From what you said it seems your hair needs a break from manipulation, tension, and pressure. Definitely cut those dead ends off as much as needed! Once your hair recovers you'll be glad you did. Hope this helps!

    Do you think hair can keep growing with split ends ?

    • @Spokentruths725
      @Spokentruths725 Před 8 lety +7

      Your hair will keep growing you just wont retain much length. I've seen it with my own eyes because the hair will keep splitting and breaking off and over time you can cause sever damage that might lead you to cutting it all off and starting over again. It's best to keep up with your trims

      Extensions and relaxers are the reason your hair could be thinning

    • @drumscomeheredrums1477

      oh. okay thanks. But is it true that if you relax your hair, you have to keep on relaxing it. But if you want to stop, you have to chop it off?? plz say no.

      I can't speak for anybody else but for myself. But it made me grow hair all over. I was never a hairy person so when I used it I grew hair EVERYWHERE.

      +patricia tanui Your welcome. I did start to grow facial hair not a mustache but a beard. Those thick long hard black hairs on my face. I have to pull those out but they do come back.
