    A fun mine strat: smoke and mirrors find active enemy vehicle, figure out where it's going or lure it with capping a point, place mines on the path it will take when you see the vehicle coming throw smoke on the mines, most drivers think you did that to block them shooting at you and drive right through, and then they're dead.

      Zander823 I found a better tactic: place mines on a road on Monte Grappa on Conquest and camp on a hill until a driver comes by. Then, throw an AT nade to get his attention, then nosh him and make him chase you to the mines. Another pro tactic is to put mines behind a tank while the driver is camping and throw an AT nade towards the part of the tank near the mines. Mines blow up from nade and u get a mine kill or two

    If you put AT mines on top of a fence, and drive through the fence with a vehicle, in a way that the mines fall on the vehicle, you can suicide bomb an enemy tank by driving the vehicle into an enemy tank. I would recommend a bike for this. The easiest place to do this is in Sinai Desert (maghara battery). Sorry for my bad english.
    PS i hope you see this comment, because this tactique is the most effective way to use AT mines (and the most fun way)
    PPS Keep doing these awesome videos!

    The "Sneaky bastard" approach to mine laying works best for me. You have to stay hidden from the tank and sneak up on it from behind, place the mines as close to the tank as possible then detonate with a nade or bullet. It also helps if you make the minimap a bit bigger and use the full map button to maximize your situational awareness.

    effective mine strat: place it on a box, run that box over with a bike(hopefuly the mine will stick on the bike), then drive the bike into an enemy vehicle or near an enemy soilder and exit the bike: this will couse the bike to instantly explode and kill the infi or tanks around it.

    To get the Hellriegel Defensive you get to make 25 AT mine kills. Everyone balks at it because it's apparently hard to do. Well...I disagree. Just as with everything in BF1, positioning is everything. If you study the gameplay a bit it's usually obvious what the preferred routes of armour are. Most drivers are pretty dumb, actually. I started playing with mines now and I think they're pretty useful. More useful than AT grenades anyway...well, unless all one cares about is throwing things that go boom for the easy kills.

    • @buphalosawse5571
      @buphalosawse5571 Před 7 lety +3

      Totally agree. I can sneak up on a landship w/ my AT nades and rocket gun and if i can somehow manage to get them all on target before dying, I might get a disable. Or I can sneak up the same way throw down a few mines, chuck a frag and walk away from a doomed tank. One of these is much more effective than the other.

    • @RedZeee
      @RedZeee Před 7 lety

      The only map I was able to get AT kills with was Monte Grappa, because you could easily tell where enemy tanks will go. However, even that was hard since you kinda had to get close to enemy spawn without being spotted, killed in the process and have your mines get destroyed.
      I hated this stupid gadget before but this task made me rage at it because it's unreliable as hell and if you want to get a chance of getting a kill with it, you first have to put yourself at risk to get it into an advantagous position and gamble for it not being discovered.
      Just take some grenades and rockets, way easier, more reliable and not nearly as infuriating.

    The damage makes no sense for the sides you hit, usually tanks have thicker armored up front so damage is reduced, usually the backs and sides are most vulnerable, especially on a tank like the Renault with its engines in the back.

    • @dillonc7955
      @dillonc7955 Před 7 lety

      ElectableDane I agree, but the later Renault tanks had a backblast shielded bumper to reduce the chance of getting hit from the rear. I know it's not entirely realistic, but the FT is pretty much useless if you have more than one enemy firing AT rockets while your engine is disabled.

    Bingo, thats what i do, start the round with the mines, place them down then when i die i switch them out. If i get a kill with them or notice they are gone i just replace them next time i spawn. I tend to run with AT grenades and dynamite as both are dual purpose. That said i have started using the rocket gun abit more lately instead of dynamite to increase my ranged abilities, some maps are just way too open to use dynamite effectively against vehicles. Great video by the way, keep up the good work. Just subbed as well :)

    great video man, you've earned another subscriber right here! The mines in the water is equally brilliant and evil! I have to admit I have used that spot and got a number of my 25 mine kills (hellriegel defensive progress) from that spot. Not useful, but I do find it funny that whatever you use to set to mines off counts as a kill for that weapon, so for example if you were to shoot the mine with the kolibri, it would count as a kolibri kill, extra funny if it's next to a heavy tank!

    Also how to rush a tank 101.
    Step 1: equip an AT rocket gun
    Step 2: equip AT grenades
    Step 3: equip light AT grenade (wish rogue covered that grenade in this video tbh)
    Step 4: throw both AT grenades and the light AT grenade at an unsuspecting tank
    Step 5: pull out rocket gun quickly and fire. If everything hit any artillery truck or damaged heavy tank or lighter grade vehicle will be destroyed
    Step 6: (heavy tank) load another AT round and fire it
    Step 7: at full health the third and final shot will destroy any heavy tank that you started with. Disabling the engine/tracks is recommended for it too

    AT Mines are class. Always spawn in with them at the start of the round. Place them in a decent place. They will no despawn when you die. So they will say there as long as nobody sees them.

  • @matthys_9228
    @matthys_9228 Před 7 lety

    Considering the gadgets as anti-vehicle, mines are definately the best since you can blow it up at once (tanks cannot retreat and repair). I use them at spawn locations of tanks, or actively by throwing smoke, closing the distance fast and react as well as I can on where the tank is going. This requires some experience with the smokes though, since it's extremely important that these are thrown in the right place (they need to block the vision of the tank, which is probably going to drive backwards).

  • @MrJacobfromDenmark
    @MrJacobfromDenmark Před 6 lety +1

    I use the AT mines a lot and have about 300+ kills with them
    They work best in Operations if you are on the defensive team. Just place them on the strategic roads before retreating, and you are guaranteed a kill if you place two of them next to each other and a tank hits them.
    A full tank is up to 5 kills. A lot of tank drivers just follow the roads into the strategic checkout, so it is easy to place them, if you know the checkpoints and the roads.
    You will be surprised to see how many tank drivers actually just follow the roads without using the terrain.

    On very contested area you can find dozens on craters, like on the road of Monte-Grappa. Vehicles will strugle going off-road because it's steep, so they stay on. If 2 or 3 teammates set some mines, the enemy vehicle will eather blow up, or ride slowly, cautiously and waste its shells firing into craters to blow mines, making it an easier target for bombers, other vehicles or infantry. But keep in mind that if the enemy spots your mine, it can use them against you by shooting at them when youre close. I'm a bit ashamed of it, but I also like to infiltrate near the enemy vehicle spawn, set some mines and watch a brand new enemy vehicle blowing up before even seeing action.
    To help teammates unlocking the mosin nagant marksman, you can also set dynamite or AT mine near their tripwire bombs.

    I always run AT Grenades and AT Mines on my Assault kit. It's pretty similar to my SMAW M15 loadout on my Battlefield 4 Engineer kit. Mines are just a great deterrent in general for me. As with many things, experience is what makes these effective. By playing enough matches, you can find out what walls or buildings tanks usually drive through in an attempt to eliminate hiding spots. One such example is the wall on Ballroom Blitz that separates D & E from each other. Putting mines on the friendly side of the wall can leave a nasty surprise for anyone trying to break through. Also, knowing the spawn vehicle routes or even where vehicles spawn on certain objectives can lead to what I would image are infuriating deaths for the enemy.

    The best way to use AT Mines in my opinion is to attach them to a motorcycle. It's really easy to attach the mines once you've practiced a bit and it means you don't have to wait for a tank or bait it in you just drive the mines into it.

  • @44WarmocK77
    @44WarmocK77 Před 6 lety

    Note to DICE: please increase the blast radius of the AT mines to 4 meters (maybe even more). That way, you can turn them into supportive boobytraps by placing them in LOS for a friendly sniper or yourself, and if a bunch of enemies run by and you're a somewhat good shot - BOOM!

    My experience with using the mines is that it is best to go around the combat hotspots and place them on the most traveled route from their base to the current contested objective. Since the fight is so far away from them most drivers think the road to said objective is safe and thus just drive straight into their immediate demise

    I have a major issue with the at mines. Some maps where the enemy can get close to your line they will place them right on top of the vehicle spawn point. You instantly blow up upon spawning in and it's super fucking annoying. If it's not instant you move an inch forward or back and still get blown up. It really makes a one sided difference when you have two teams battling with armor and I think EA should fix the spawns to where the enemy can't place a mine on the tank spawns

    It took me awhile to get the hellriegel defensive. I charged tanks and went around them hoping they would either back up or run over it. Look for tanks camping on hills getting kills with their cannons, and definitely place mines outside the main road out of the hostile spawn. Stay patient. If you are terrible like I am with mines, your going to lose your will to live and a few decimals off your KD. I did finish it though. It wasn't super hard but it was a steep learning curve and mediocre level grind.

    What about mines : i usually pick smoke grenades, throw them near enemy tank than i put the mines down in front or behind that tank, if he will not blow himself up, i throw AT grenade, it works incredibly well especially when enemy team is not protecting that tank at all. - it is some kind of active usage of mines in bf1 to me.

    @Rogue-9 One fact you forgot to mention, after you placed 3 mines and it did not detonated yet, placing new mines with somehow overwrite the mines you put earlier by order you put them. Let say you put mines in sequence from left to right, the next batch of mines you placed will remove the left mine you put earlier 1st, then the middle mine, then lastly the right mine.

      I've found that the best way is to drop an AT mine and then drop dynamite to set it off, this gives you 3 uses before reloading and allows you to wreck buildings far better I'd say.

    • @_ace_defective_
      @_ace_defective_ Před 7 lety +1

      Conundrum I think such a series would have been great for BF4 (with so many similar weapons), but BF1 has fewer weapons which are more diverse, so idk how long such a series would last with only a few weapons.

    • @Rogue9
      @Rogue9  Před 7 lety +1

      Could definitely work well for pistols. There are quite a few pistols that have the exact same damage and drop off pattern and it could be cool to see what makes them different and which one is better

    • @clearlypellucid
      @clearlypellucid Před 7 lety

      I think there's a real question also about whether or not the 12ga Auto still fills a role in light of the existence of the Inertial, as well as whether or not it's worth using the MP18 (which seems like there's little point in using it instead of either the Automatico for hipfiring or the Hellriegel for aimed firing), the Lewis Gun versus the superior damage LMGs, the Autoloading 8 (5 round) versus the Selbstlader 1906, and possibly a few other seriously overshadowed guns I can think of.

    • @_ace_defective_
      @_ace_defective_ Před 7 lety

      if you go that way, it could make sense. However they're not really statistically similar, are they? I can't say anything about the 12G vs Inertial (don't own the DLC), but there are definitely some arguments for using the MP 18, Lewis gun, etc.
      MP 18 has superior hipfire and controllability. You can comfortably hipfire the MP 18 all the way to 50m and beyond, and its DPS isn't terrible. Also has some pretty easy recoil. (I do think SMG balance needs some tweaks, but the MP 18 isn't useless in the least).
      Lewis Gun has both controllability and high capacity on its side, especially with the Suppressive variant. Its hipfire is also surprisingly good. It's a longer range LMG, but it has capacity advantages over both the M1909 and Huot, and is reasonably controllable as said before. (an interesting comparison would be the Huot and M1909 though)
      Auto 8 has very quick TTK on its side (making it good at close/medium range), while the 1906 has low recoil and high accuracy on its side, for long range.

    • @clearlypellucid
      @clearlypellucid Před 7 lety

      MP18 has superior hipfire to the Hellriegel, but the same hipfire as the other SMGs and a lower rate of fire than the Automatico. Basically, if you're gonna hipfire, go with the Automatico. If you're not, go with any other SMG.
      Is the Auto 8's potential ROF significantly higher than the 1906?
