I remember Queen Latifah said she rewrote her verse after hearing Yo-yo’s verse and Yo-yo said she kept tweaking her verse because she knew she was on a track with Lyte and Queen, yet they all came together and rocked it. That’s what we mean when we say Hip Hop is competitive. Kids today think “competitive” means arguing about Billboard charts and a bunch of weak, forgettable subliminal shots.

MC Lyte’s opening verse was the perfect way to start this song off. Brandy honestly didn’t even have to try, she kept it simple and somehow still managed to kill this song. Her vocals were so smooth, laid back and chill, you can tell she was happy to be amongst greatness. Yo-Yo verse doesn’t get talked about enough, she did what she was supposed to do.
