Went ahead and made it, all with the serger plus gathering stitches and final seam by hand. Measurements for 4 pieces needed are ("size" means along grainline, "length" is across the grain, or in the direction of the greatest stretch, where "edge" is mentioned, that seems to be the grainline too):
size is 18" for adults
length is 1/2 head circumference + 1in
size is 8"
length is head circumference + 1in
3in wide
5in long
size 6in
length is head circumference + 1in

I tried to follow but directions are unclear. Edge is the selvage edge or the cut edge? 12in for a baby and 18in for adult is length or width of the fabric? And how much fabric is needed overall, it's cut three times during the video.

Did u say half the head circumference when u are talking about the measurements with the 1st fabric? And can I use the same measurements u did on the first fabric piece if I want to make the 2nd band smaller not so wide like u have?
