  • He's the best there is at what he does. He's the strongest there is. Marvel Animation has never been the same ever since Hulk and Wolverine threw down in the animated film, Hulk vs Wolverine. Truly a massive fan favorite, lets get nostalgic as we dive right into a classic Marvel film, a kind we don't get anymore.

      Marvel ( and DC ) make great animated series... 90s TAS Xmen and Spiderman obviously especially but shout out to F4, IM and Hulk. SS was okay and Ultron was great in that terrible Avengers show with a few good episodes but xmen tas voices 😂... Avengers EMH, Evolution, Spectacular Spiderman, I even liked elements of Ultimate Spiderman and wish we got a legit Spiderman show than added teams and other characters... Not to mention DC... Timmverse, TT, YJ, GL TAS, All the Batman shows... Etc... But where Marvel and DC are equal in series, animated movies DC is king. Marvel has a few okay ones with this by far being the best but it's not saying much. I wish we got Marvel stories especially big crossovers in animated movie form.

    You can thank Boyd Kirkland, Craig Kyle, and Chris Yost for most of the good Marvel animated shows and some of the straight to DVD movies from the last 20 years. They were the showrunners/main writers on X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The only show they didn't work on was Spectacular Spider-Man.
    Boyd Kirkland had previously worked on Batman: The Animated Series, he directed a bunch of episodes and was a director on Mask of the Phantasm. Sadly, Kirkland passed away in 2011. Craig Kyle and Chris Yost also created X-23 and worked on the MCU Thor movies.
    They tried to make a Marvel animated universe. Their three shows are lightly connected. But unfortunately, Marvel was in pretty rough financial shape at the time and they couldn't take advantage of the opportunity.

    • @ziljin
      @ziljin Před 4 měsíci +5

      those shows were so good but IIRC Marvel canned them all to make new MCU adjacent animated universe where all the shows were loosely based on the MCU versions. Like theres one episode where Iron man says "Ultron's back!" when it was literally his first appearance in the Avengers Assemble cartoon. Then I realized it was meant to be MCU adjacent so they mean something similar to Age of Ultron also occurred in the Avengers Assemble show, hence Ultron is now back after being defeated in Age of Ultron.

      It wasn’t until Disney bought Marvel that Sony lost the TV rights to the Web-Head, and because of this, Marvel was able to make animated shows off of him and included him in the animated shows starting with EMH.

Nowadays with The MCU being everywhere it is rather hard to find an animated movie or show like this from Marvel. So when I saw Lady Bullseye I giggled like a school girl. She is such a niche character that you had to have read a comic with her at some point to know who she is. So, just a few pet peeves of mine with this movie because i am a huge Marvel (in geberal) fan. The Villains were portrayed too weak here. Lady Deathstrike, Deadpool, Omega Red and especially Sabertooth are all villains who by themselves are big threats to Logan and to see them basically only have a single scene portraying them strong (when they beat Wolverine in the second encounter) always kinda itched me the wrong way. For instance, i don’t blame you for thinking that, but Sabertooth is actually the one with the better healing factor, not Wolverine. But again, Pet Peeves.

    9:31, In the little snippets of Episode 4, this little section of Itsuki just entering his room and taking in how empty the space is is really well done. I can’t help but imagine someone making a video looping the animation and setting it to “Chamber Of Reflection”.
    9:52, As for this film, it’s portrayal of both Logan and Wolverine are also pretty effective and the contrast between them in some way enriches the narrative.
    Both are tormented characters haunted by violence, but while Logan was made cruel and brutal by it, even the things he doesn’t remember (it can be inferred he was still suffering from his experiences as an immortal before his capture, as can be inferred by his heavy drinking), Bruce is driven to despair as he is a prisoner in his own body, unable to stop what the monster inside does or the monsters that provoke him.
    They are foils to each other, both monsters, both savages that become set loose upon other worse monsters and savages in the form of Weapon X, as while Logan and Hulk mainly use violence to survive and defend, Weapon X uses violence for sport or to gain power.
    The morality of violence is something of a theme in this movie, just as Hulk Vs Thor explores worthiness and the burden of power in how it pits the brave and noble prince against a Loki that lacks the strength to wield a Bannerless Hulk’s power, leading to its mindless rampage until Bruce is forced to take Hulk into himself again.

    Man, I was just thinking recently that Marvel needs a side-line universe movie ( like Matt Reeves' The Batman ) that's a live action "Hulk vs Wolverine", but in this telling, it turns out to be a "Wolverine v Sabertooth" plot and a meek Bruce Banner ( who can't transform for reasons ) becomes the McGuffin in a violent chase thriller movie.. until Sabertooth has tormented Wolverine and Banner enough that the Hulk bursts out and the climax dials up.
    I want a short, thick and grim Logan with big incisor teeth. A menacing Sabertooth that borders on horror movie scary. And a Hulk with the Frankenstein styled head with the crazy square brow and blocky chin. Old school.
