  • Pt. Arun Kashalkar began his second set at the FEA-curated "Into The Night" concert, a tribute to his guru Pt. Babanrao Haldankar, with Raag Barwa. He was accompanied by Praveen Karkare on tabla and Pravin Kaslikar on harmonium. Supporting vocals and tanpura was provided by his senior students Mukul Kulkarni and Vishal Moghe.
    The event was co-presented by First Edition Arts and G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture.

    Barwa is sombre, lilting and sensual all at once. Arun ji does immense Justice to this complex raag! Absolutely mesmerizing!

    I still remember the frisson produced by the third line of the sthayi curling into the saam.... that was years ago when Panditji first gave me this marvellous bandish in his student's house

      Vithal Nadkarni Truly these gharanedaar bandishes are sublime! I cannot begin to fathom the minds of the ustads who first composed these.
