I used this on my current A&B for way too long, until I realized I could put long handed inserters by ticking a checkbox on top left! Now I look at my starter base in disgust.
Iirc even from my first real playthrough I've been using this trick to feed 3-4 in put designs. Can even work for compact ish 2 item designs by turning one of the input lanes into a output. Honestly don't even know another design as effective, even from watching YT vids.
If you are curious the objectives were removed, they caused issues with the mods stability. The research was left in because the mod was balanced under the assumption you'd complete the objectives.
They may return, however - Factorio 2.0 makes that kind of tech a vanilla feature, and removes the need for a lab to get them. As such, once it is out the modmaker can re-implement the requirements on the techs without causing stability issues.
Not sure what you mean by stability issues, there was an easy fix that I was going to implement so that they act properly as trigger researches. Just didn't get to it before the video released.
1:40: Rarthropods. Love it. 8:00 I think it would be more accurate to say you died twice to fucking _cliff._ Since you fell up the same cliff both times. If only you had a single cliff explosive.

"In factorio fun mode, you rotate the build, not the inserter." I really don't know why, but this one line made me belly laugh. Honestly man, I'm subbing just for that one.
It wasn't made _for_ him actually, just a goofy mod released ages ago, but the most recent update includes a custom message for him "if he ever plays" it. There's way more he didn't mention, too, like trains being completed removed, how deleting the spaceship kills you, how gates are normally open and close when the player approaches, or _Cheeseman_ - it's great.

Fyi you can also shift left click a power pole to remove all of it's power cable connections.
