@@user-zv6tz3uk5j I mean, there are far more classic and influential songs than "Thunderstruck" with far more intricate baselines that the average bassist has far more to learn from: think basically any track from the James Jamerson cannon. Even among poundingly repetitive basslines there are songs that use that repetitiveness well and to great effect: think Peter Hook's playing on "Transmission" or "Love Will Tear Us Apart Again" or Tina Weymouth on "Once In A Lifetime" or "Heaven."
Pretty frustrating to see so many comments calling this easy, it only seems that way until you actually try to play it. Keeping up the same note with perfectly consistent rhythm and attack for so long is far harder than it looks
This is 100% true and is something I struggle with more than playing complex rhythms, this is however primarily because nobody every really wants to play a song like this, and so we never practice playing like this! Also fuck AC/DC bad band in basically every conceivable way except arguably influence, but then one like myself would argue that said influence may have done more harm than good.
Maybe because the person is a beginner and likes the song for practice?Or maybe he/she plays in a ACDC cover band and needs to learn the line for a live event...

@@cu2971 Upstrokes generally have less force so will sound different. This isn’t always a bad thing, if there’s more emphasis on the downbeats then it will usually groove a bit more, but usually you want consistency on every note and downpicking will help achieve that

Lets just say there's a reason why AC/DC cover bands are easier to find than Rush cover bands.
To be fair, a lot of the rhythm guitar parts are harder to play properly in time than you'd imagine

Looking at someone who plays the part skillfully and with a consistent rhythm definitely makes it appear easy 😂

I am wondering why all the picking is downstroke only?
downstrokes only sound different that up down, even if you get it rigth, the attack is not the same
