  • This week, we're bringing you another video detailing our approach to roasting coffee. This time around, we've got a phenomenal Gesha varietal from the Volcan Azul farm in Costa Rica.
In this video, you can hear about our approach to profiling, as well as gaining insight into the data and measurements we used to define this roast. As always, this roast was completed using a Loring Smart Roaster and the measurements were taken using LightTells moisture and density readers.
We visited the farm to speak with Alejo earlier this year, so make sure to look back through our video catalogue to learn more about how this coffee was cultivated and processed. If you have any additional questions, make sure to list them in the comment section below.
For those interested in the data, you can find the information below:
    - 10:25 Total
    - 1:02 Dev Time
    - 208.4°C End Temp
    - 13,9 Top RoR
    - 5,3 Crack RoR
    - 3,8 End RoR
    - 89,7 Inner Colour
    - 69 Outer Colour
    - 9.5% Green Coffee Moisture
    - 696g/L Green Coffee Density
We're always interested in hearing what topics you're most curious to hear us discuss, and social media is a great way of reaching out to us if you would like to make a request.
We welcome your thoughts and feelings on the topics raised in this weeks video, as well as other ideas you would like to see us discuss in the future. We really appreciate your feedback and support.

What is your approximate time to yellow? Do you mark the start of first crack by a specific temp reading, or by sound?
    Thanks for sharing, cool video!

Holy cow 1 min after 1C seems REALLY light. If you don't mind - how much temp past 1C are you experiencing in that 1 min.

Hejsa Patrik, the charge temp looks lower than your usual 200°, how many kg were you roasting on your 15kg machine? thanks a lot!

With the different density like panama gesha would it still be a good experiment to try it similar profile like this?

Do you consider that this type of Coffe bean needs to get roast more fast compared to a normal Coffe bean (typica washed) ?
