@@PaintingandDecoratingPlease can you give me some advice on painting? I recently gave my dark wooden trims and skirting 2 coats of Bins Zinsser. The 1st coat went on great but the second coat dragged in places. I allowed enough time to dry. I then gave it one coat of Dulux solvent based pure brilliant white undercoat. I gave the Dulux a good stir for 3 minutes but sadly the paint started dragging once I started painting. Any advice would be helpful please?

Silk is one of those paints where its very important to keep a wet edge so cut in a wall a roll it straightaway. Other then textured walls and ceilings i really dont like the stuff. I prefer soft sheen

The trick is to make sure the skimming has been done to a high standard by a professional plasterer

I find silk is not forgiven if your prep is not good then it just highlights every lump and bump. Great vid

Nice video. I don't know whether you have used Crown Ceiling Performance paint before. It's supposedly a Matt finish but to me it has a bit of a sheen to it. I'm basically a novice DIYer and been doing my skimmed over Artex ceilings, with varied success. Some rooms are just a mare from certain angles depending on the light source. Kind of wish I'd used a different paint but I've done 5 rooms now (did a mist coat prior). If you feel inclined, a video dealing with light reflections would be good. I've rolled off towards the light source which has served me best so far, but a couple of times have had to sand down and start again!

No I've not used that one best to use a flat Matt or contract Matt. Crown are doing a non reflective Matt. Thanks

@@PaintingandDecorating cheers. I live and learn. I think I should have done what you do and used a 9 inch roller. The plaster work probably wasn't flat enough to give an even coat with a 12 inch. More control with a 9 inch

There is no trick using silk lads, its nasty!!!, doesnt cover, makes your roller bucket and kettle peel, flashes to death despite endless coats, the best trick would be to make it disappear 😁
