  • How lovely are the twisted candles you see on everybody's Christmas gift lists, in magazines and all over social media? So cute but so expensive to buy. Isn't it great that they are also so easy to make yourself?
All you need are tapered candles, a tall vessel that holds warm water and a rolling pin.
Let your candle sit in the warm water (not boiling!) between 5 and 15 minutes until it is soft. Flatten the candle stick with your rolling pin and gently twist it or bend it into shape. When finished put your candle in a vase of cold water to harden again.
Wouldn't these make the best little Christmas gifts? Attach them to a card and leave them on the doorstep of your friends and family. That would for sure bring a smile to their faces in this lockdown Christmas.

Hi, you don't want the water to hot, you want to be just able to touch it. So I would say 40 degrees Celsius roughly. How long depends on the candle you have, keep dipping it until you can twist the candle. Hope this helps

The white ones are from Wilko and the yellow ones from a local lifestyle store.

Hi, yes just like a normal candle. Always keep an eye on them and don't leave the room when the candles are lit.

Hi Nida, do you use candles that have a solid colour or are they white on the inside with a coloured coating on the outside? You do need a solid coloured candle for this. Maybe try and soaking them in warm water a bit longer so the candle is softer, this might help.
Good luck and let me know if you need any more help

Yes! Beeswax is brilliant to use for twisted candles, and smells lovely 😀
