      I remember the first time TALES FROM THE CRYPT premiered during the Summer of 1989. My father used to get the monthly HBO guide. Wouldn't you know it? That damn Cryptkeeper was on the cover! My God, seeing that rotting corpse with the missing nose scared the shit outta me as a kid. Hell, I can even recall sneaking into my parent's bedroom to watch a new episode. They used to have a viewer warning about the series. The whole TV ratings system didn't exist yet. When the announcer got to the VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED part, the camera quick pans to a giggling Cryptkeeper! God, I miss the 80's/90's...😎🇵🇷🇺🇸📽🗽🦂

  • @MikeMaxwell1961
    @MikeMaxwell1961 Před 2 lety +32

    NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING beats the 1983 intro, a part of which starts at 2.28 and after that @3:05. The orchestral music is phenomenal. You don't have that anymore - it's all canned crap that is meant to be used and reused. As a society, we have just given up on originality and creativity in so many areas. The painstaking process that was used to create the original 1983 set, the miniatures that were hand painted to make sure they accurately represented a small town, to the camera work and angles that probably took many many hours of detailed work. The script, that dictated every second of the scenes, and ultimately a final product that was damn near perfection and awe inspiring. Those times are pretty much gone. I realize the progress is inevitable. It doesn't mean we can forget about everything we have done to get us where we are, and to celebrate those times. The people who contributed deserve it, and we certainly deserve to see from which greatness we have come.

    The 1983 version is the one everyone thinks of yet it only lasted until 2000, the 2000 intro was also around for 17 years, I feel as though it did not catch on as much as the 1983 intro though. The 2000 intro but was replaced in 2017 with the current intro that pays homage to the 1983 intro.

    Like so many others, the 83 version is just so much more powerful and meaningful. I grew up in a town of 700 in southern MN. Our aunt and uncle moved into town. We had HOB for a short time during those free trials they liekd to do. Once they were done, my uncle would come over and turn it back on. He did this a few times and it was awesome.
