- If you are a fan old retro 2000’s anime pretty sure you have heard of “Shaman King”. Shaman king is one of most elite old retro anime, with a reboot on its way it surely was big back then as well. All of the 90’s kid had one thing in common and that was getting done with homework earlier so that could watch the latest episode of “Sharman king”.
Good old days, so without further ado we’ll be diving into a complete break down of the anime today, so make sure to stay till the very end.
4kids entertainment obtained the official rights to broadcast Shaman king, and on 6 September 6, 2003, it was first premiered on Fox box. Its last episode came on 25 2002 on Tv Tokyo in Japan.
Now we all know how bad 4kid did to One Piece. Made all of the epic moments of Roronoa Zoro and Monkey d Luffy fall right into the cringe realm. 4kids is probably the primary reason why One Piece never took off in North America, and you can't even admit to liking the dub version without sounding like a complete normie and cringe enthusiast who enjoys some super dumb kiddie cartoon.
But surprisingly, they did a pretty good job with Shaman king Dub. Some people prefer the English dub version over the original, and if people do that, we all know how good a dub it would be.
When the first episode of the shaman king was released, Manga had already covered 134 (300 total) chapters, which is not even half of the total. The anime creators should have waited for the manga to finish but well they just didn’t.
The manga was written by Hiroyuki Takei and was published in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The original run of the manga is from June 30, 1998- August 30,2004. The manga is a big hit in Japan and as of 2021 it already has sold over 38 million copies and the manga managed to get in top 10 manga ever created.
The problem with this was that there wasn’t a proper tone set in Manga for the Anime to follow. So, the anime creators had to create their setting, own technique, and theme of the show, which well they weren't able to do quite well.
When the Anime ended, the Manga was only on the Osorezan arc, which is halfway through.
So, it’s just natural that anime had few fillers. Yes I know you are thinking about full metal alchemist in your head, and truth be told the anime creators it’s a similar situation. It just we got a reboot of FMA with less waiting, we had to wait 20 years for Sharman king reboot.

I and I love everything about the anime the funny one liners in the dub the hot boys and cool looking sprits and let’s not forgot the badass dub opening

I definitely agree that in terms of capturing the essence of the characters, the old anime did it somehow.... Better.
But the story of the manga is spectacular, it's really full of amazing twists, turns and a rather glorious ending. The new animr has that going for it, tho it rushes the early sections sooo much, it does a fine job later on. And now for the finale.... We're waiting
That's a really good observation! The old anime had that x factor making the people more loveable for sure. Hoping this new anime concludes better than the original though so let's see! 😄
It’s simple enough. Actual source material doesn’t give the characters enough time to breath. All the filler in the og anime actually allowed the characters to just relax

Good video I recently finished Shaman King 2021 and didn't watch the original anime that much. That interesting Yoh kills Haoh when in the 2021 version didn't.

Its such a shame that we wont get this God tier dub voice acting with the reboot so it wont be the same for me even if the animations are much better, I usually prefer the sub in most anime but only if the dub is bad and Shaman King had one of those S tier dubs that was so good just like Death Note, Black Lagoon and a few others.
Honestly this dub was actually sick! One of the highlights of this anime for me. Maybe one day they'll give us another reboot with those same voice actors

Its very obvious that it just doesnt have the same experienced team or artists/animators working on it. Some of the fights like Lee Pai Long one doesnt look good at all and the angles are confusing in 2021. It just looks like a rushed product

@@KingKasper Yeah. Not really surprising considering the long gap but still disappointing. Its a shame when the original anime from 20 years ago looks better than one produced today even with better quality equipment and more resources. That isnt to say bad anime didnt exist back then or that the original was perfect but there were definitely more experienced people working back then. The industry exploded in popularity and of course there will be more failures just to fit the 12/25 episode seasonal need. Its sad to see that even with 64 there wasnt enough time planned out to make a good remake. From voice acting to janky animation and especially the new "pacing" or speedrunning its just sad yet some fans will never accept that and say were only saying this because of "nostalgia".

@@KingKasper their one piece dub was the final straw that broke the camel’s back. The 4kids one piece dub is going to be hated regardless if they get things right, but when it first aired in 2004, it was dead on arrival.

the 2021 reboot was either good, mixed or underwhelming at worst. the 2001 shaman king anime is better despite the changes it made. but 2021 shaman king is getting better
Totally agree! 2001 Shaman King was so epic. Just finished watching the 2021 reboot and it doesn't hit the same at all!
