Some nice tips - especially the one about keeping your bag out the way of any rogue waves!

Hello Stephen, great video .. one question. I'd love to see a video sometime on caring for equipment, specifically protecting camera, lenses, tripod etc from the salt water and the sand. What process do you go through when you've been shooting at the beach? Do you run the camera and lenses under fresh water at home before cleaning and drying (if so, how)? How do you deal with sand without scratching anything? Thanks!

Great tips, Stephen. One I use is to carry 3 old CDs with me, and put the spikes on the tripod through the hole in the middle. It helps stop the tripod sinking in sand or soft earth.

Morning Stephen 😊 some lovely photos and tips there. I definitely need to head out with my tripod more. I tend to often leave it in the car but then that limits the shots I can get. Nice tip with the leading lines, that photo was very good. Lovely clear day to head to the coast it looked a lovely location there.

Smashing video and wonderful tips, the examples shown are really great! I am guilty of being very lackadaisical when it comes to shooting by the sea, particularly with the incoming tide and rough waves. My gear and I have been smashed a good few times! Fun times! Cheers mate!

Some great tips! It is so easy to underestimate the importance of a good tripod - I know I've made that mistake before, which resulted in buying a better tripod. Also liked the tip on keeping your camera bag on or at least very far from the water. I don't get to photograph many seascapes, but I could totally see me forgetting that and getting my gear drenched by a rogue wave!

@@JeffreyTadlockPhotography thanks for watching Jeffrey and leaving a comment 👍. I think many of us have learnt the hard way with tripods🤦‍♂️, you definitely get what you pay for don’t you.

@@stephensmithphotography Yep! I did the same with my lightstands when I used to do more portrait work - everyone said buy good lightstands, I didn't listen and then ended up going out and re-buying better lightstands!
I tell people don't guy the cheap tripod, buy the good one first because you'll just end up replacing it with the good one. And then go on to say - but, I know you won't listen as all photographers seem doomed to repeat this process! LOL

Great video mate, when you said about the tripod and waves I put my hand on my head! 😂🤦🏼‍♂️ as I’ve lost a tripod, camera and and filters to a massive wave! One second it was there the next it wasn’t. I’ve learned my lesson. Keep up the good work mate.

@@jeffreysproule thank you mate. I’ve always struggled with the Canon app, I think that’s mainly because my phone is so old though 😂
