This flew pretty good for a toy, very similar to the x500 from Syma, pity about the sdcard but that happens sometimes on these toy DVR systems.. Great review Ryan, cheers buddy 👍🍻

Looks like a Holy Stone HS175...100% the same! All these reviews look great BUT we need to get one from someone who owned one for many months and performed numerous flights and can tell wether or not the quad will hold up!
Or even better just buy a Bugs 20 and call it a day. Brushless motors > brushed. Eventually a motor will go bad in the D65.

Thanks for uploading Ryan. I actually purchased this quad from Amazon and got just got it a few days ago. I like the smaller size
and my primary purpose was indoor flying with the Optical Flow Sensor. It works great for that. However,
I dropped in a 64 GB Scandisk (the only one I had) and experienced the same problem you did.
An error message that says not enough memory. Did you get any resolution from TomzonToys about that?
@@legganty I've not asked them yet but I can. Tomzon is owned by Potensic. It appears you have to use a SD card > 32GB.
@@RDsRCReviews Yeah, I've got a couple of 32GB cards on order. I notice in their spec their calling for a TF card. I'm not what the designation is. Did you get a 32 GB card to work?
@@legganty no I didn't have any luck with 32GB and TF card is what they commonly refer to in China as sdcards.

hi can you explain me that, in the video you don't show how to use the function in optical mode, want to use the another function in the app butt it says : unable to turn on visual tracking or control, can you check for me please?, it says that with the gesture you can do the photo, it is true? the optical flow mode it says that the light should be turned in yellow, it is correct? thanks
Yeah I'm not really sure. I didn't try disabling gps mode to test the hand gestures but don't be surprised if that doesn't work. You disable GPS with the switch on the controller.
I just got this myself and have been playing around with it. I agree with what you say about the quality and such. It's fun to play around with but definitely more of a toy.
I'm curious if you know anything about the "optical flow positioning" which seems to have to do with operating it indoors. But no where in the instructions can I find what is involved in using that rather than GPS.
Also, the options under the gear icon are slightly different on mine and never give me the option of 5g WiFi, no matter how many times I have cycled the power on the drone and checked back in the options.
Also, the stabilization in my app has a "Compare" option which I have yet to try.
Yeah, it isn't uncommon to have options in the app that aren't explained well. I don't know what that means either. The optical flow uses the pinhole camera on the bottom to look at the ground and hold position when there's no GPS lock. It should work but often times it doesn't work well on these toys.

Another interesting thing I found was when I was searching around my phone for where it saved the video I found that it is in a directory called SYMA.
@@MarcMosher that's because Syma actually makes this drone ;) it is just rebranded by Tomzon/Potensic
@@RDsRCReviews That's what I figured, after finding the directory and the Syma version (amzn.to/3kZ2bTu). It's good to know so as to get as wide of a range of replacement rotors and parts as possible.

Did you watch my video? You have to connect to the drone's Wi-Fi. I think it may be 5g though I believe you can switch it between 2.4 and 5ghz in the app.

All you have to do is calibrate the compass then wait until you get a good satellite lock and you're good to go. The app will let you know when you have though Sats.
Yeah, we’re having trouble calibrating anything...won’t work through the app, had to do the magnetic manual calibration but the GPS/compass part won’t seem to work 🤷🏼♂️, thanks for the quick reply sir
@@S2kheaven07 the compass has nothing to do with the GPS :) this is difficult to troubleshoot. Make sure you are not close to any metal such as an automobile. Can you initiate it via the app? If not then start it with the controller and watch the lights and listen for beeps. Compass calibrations used to be a big problem with the early GPS drones and I used to fight with them butt working right but they have gotten so much better in recent years. I couldn't tell you the last time I had an issue calibrating a compass.

mine says when I try to connect it says no internet connection to it do you have any ideas of the problem
You don't need an internet connection :) that's normal. Your phone is simply warning you that there's no internet available from the D65's Wi-Fi connection which is correct. My phone gives me the same warning anytime I comment up a drone's Wi-Fi. The video feed to your phone inside the app is that the Wi-Fi is for.

I don't recall exactly and I'm shocked I didn't mention the app name in the video. I know it is a Tomzon named app. Maybe Tomzon GPS app.

No you can't, sorry.
You should be able to use the phone in VR mode inserted into a VR headset but that'll be very laggy.

@@andresalina551 that is unfortunate. It's an old drone I bet the app is no longer available. You should be able to find an old version of the app by searching on Google. You can then download the apk file and install it on your phone when
@@RDsRCReviews Thanks for the response Ryan, I bought it in November 2020, I have used it rarely since it is a hobby, I searched Google for previous apk versions but they give me an error when installing. I will have to buy one of better quality, as a first experience it was good. Could you recommend a drone with a stabilizer?

@@RDsRCReviews Thanks. The reason I ask is that when I went to dl the app there were alot of bad ratings by android users. It looks like it works for you. One person even said their drone flew off never to be seen again. At first I tried reading the manual but my electron microscope is in the shop. Then I went straight to youtube where people that know what their talking about hang out.
@@krejdloc all these "toy" grade Wi-Fi fpv android apps haves terrible review scores. It is really common. Some of them do suck but a lot of the time it's user error. The drone flying away definitely wasn't caused by the app.
Got my drone app. Won't work. Reviews say it won't work on android. Please help me out im not a techy.
It works fine. I'm using android. What reviewer said it didn't work with android? All of these drones have apps for both android and iOS. Some work better than others. Make sure you connect to the drone's Wi-Fi signal first then open the app.
@@RDsRCReviews hey I got it to work. But I had to delete it then, then reinstall. I had to give access to photos I believe. Then it seems like it worked. I've never flown one today is the day. Thanks for your quick reply.
Well om gonna bust this drone with a hammer or send it back im gonna lose it won't since yo my phone. Only 3 blades turn. Im really upset. I was super excited this thing sucks. I don't know what to do

WiFi off, mine flew fine, turn on the app it was terrible just like the x500
Mine flew great with Wi-Fi on. No issues at all. I was flying over a field though in a small town with less Wi-Fi interference though. The only issue I had is it won't even read a 32GB sdcard.
@@RDsRCReviews You can use a 4gb card, the bitrate is so low the file size is very small
Yes I know that. I just didn't have any cards less than 32GB at my parents so I had no other options.
So it's a camera drone with no camera. Just looked, holy shit, $180 for that? With the new drones out there around that price I don't see how you can even pretend it is worth more than $60/70 if that.
Huh? It has a camera. I show it in the video. I'm just using a screen recorder.
When did I ever say it was worth that much money? It is a decent toy drone but I totally agree that it is worth maybe $80 tops. I just had this exact discussion with another reviewer friend about this same drone. I completely agree that it is way overpriced but unfortunately that's the case with all the drones on Amazon.

@@uknowmysteez6794 well sounds like it is your phone then. I believe it can be switched between 2.4 and 5ghz in the app so use your friend's phone to check that. Maybe it is using 5ghz and your phone isn't compatible.
How do u change the ghz ?
@@uknowmysteez6794 It is something you do in the app I believe. I recall doing it I think but it is possible I'm confusing it with the F007 Pro drone. In fact, I think I am getting the two confused. Sorry.

That's because I was unable to do a table review due to my living arrangements at the time. I like to be thorough. Either way, that's why there's a fast forward button. Not that hard to use buddy. If I skimp on the details and just fly it then people bitch that I didn't show what came with it. At the end of the day, if you don't like what I offer then feel free to watch elsewhere. I'm sure there are non-in-depth flight reviews out there.
