And he also believed that wizardkind should help muggles along with living together with them in peace, which is a Gryffindor attribute.
I could see that, but Merlin needs to be a skinny, lanky man. Specifically for when he rolls up his sleeves and pulls up his robe to dirt ski like in the film. He cannot be robust in any way. He does not indulge - he spends so much time in study and practice that he considers eating a distraction!!!
